UNO Super Mario Game Rules

Are you ready to dive into the exciting world of UNO Super Mario? This unique twist on the classic card game combines the beloved UNO gameplay with the iconic characters and themes from the Super Mario series. Get ready for an adventure like no other!

Game Objective

Just like in the original UNO game, the objective of UNO Super Mario is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards. You’ll need to use strategy, quick thinking, and a little bit of luck to outsmart your opponents and emerge victorious.

Getting Started

To start playing UNO Super Mario, you’ll need the UNO Super Mario deck. this deck contains 112 cards, with each card featuring either a character from the Super Mario series or a special action. The deck also includes a special Custom Rule card exclusive to this version of UNO.
Just like in regular UNO, the game begins by dealing 7 cards to each player. The remaining cards are placed face-down in a draw pile, and the top card is turned face-up to create a discard pile.

Gameplay

The gameplay mechanics of UNO Super Mario are similar to the original UNO game, but with a fun Super Mario twist. In this version, you can play a character card that matches the color of the card on the top of the discard pile, a character card that matches the character on the top of the discard pile, or a special action card.
If you don’t have a playable card in your hand, you must draw a card from the draw pile. If the card you draw is playable, you can immediately play it. Otherwise, it becomes the next player’s turn.
Special action cards add a unique element to the game. There are special Jump-In and Super Star cards that allow you to interrupt other players’ turns and change the course of the game. Pay close attention to the special action cards and use them strategically to gain an advantage.

Custom Rule Card

The UNO Super Mario deck includes a Custom Rule card that adds an extra layer of excitement to the game. This card allows you to create a new rule that all players must follow until the end of the game or until another Custom Rule card is played. Get creative and come up with fun and challenging rules to keep your opponents on their toes!

Winning the Game

The game continues until one player successfully gets rid of all their cards. Once a player has no cards left, they must yell “UNO!” to notify the other players. However, if an opponent catches them not saying it, they must draw two additional cards as a penalty.
The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the game! Congratulations, you’ve conquered the world of UNO Super Mario!

Ready to play a fun card game? Let me explain how it works. The goal is simple: be the first player to get rid of all your cards in each round and score points by collecting the cards your opponents are left holding. The player who reaches 500 points first wins the game!

Setting Up

1. We’ll start by determining the dealer. Each player draws a card, and the player who draws the card with the highest number becomes the dealer. If any cards have symbols on them, they are counted as zeros.

2. The dealer shuffles the deck and gives each player 7 cards.

3. The remaining cards are placed facedown to create the DRAW pile.

4. The top card of the DRAW pile is turned over to start the DISCARD pile.

Playing the Game

The player to the dealer’s left begins the game. When it’s your turn, your goal is to match one of the cards in your hand with the card on top of the discard pile. You can match by number, color, or symbol.

If you don’t have a card that matches or if you choose not to play a card on your turn, you need to draw a new card from the pile.

If you have a card that you can play, you can choose to play it or pass your turn to the next person.

The game continues in a clockwise direction, and the goal is to get rid of all your cards before the other players. When a player plays their last card, the game ends and points are tallied.

Action Cards

Draw Two Card

When I play this card, you have to draw two cards and skip your next turn. It’s like throwing a curveball in the game!

But there’s a catch – this card can only be played on a card of the same color or on another Draw Two card. So, you have to strategize when to use it wisely.

If the Draw Two card shows up right at the beginning of the game, the rule stays the same – the next player has to draw two cards and miss their turn.

Reverse Card

When you use this card, the flow of the game changes – if it was going to the left, it now goes to the right, and vice versa.

You can only play this card if it matches the color of the previous card or if another Reverse card is already on the table.

If this card is revealed at the start of the game, the dealer gets to go first, and play starts going to the right instead of the left.

Skip Card

When I play this card, you lose your turn. Only play this card on a matching color or another Skip card.

If a Skip card is revealed at the start, the player on the dealer’s left loses a turn and play begins with the next player.

Wild Card

When I play this card, I get to choose the color that keeps the game going. I can choose any color, even the color that was being played before I played the Wild card.

I can play a Wild card on my turn, even if I have another card I could play.

If a Wild card is revealed at the start of the game, the person sitting to the left of the dealer gets to pick the color that keeps the game going.

Wild Draw 4 Card

Hey there, when you play this awesome card, you get to be the boss! You get to decide which color the game continues with AND the next player has to pick up a whopping 4 cards from the draw pile and also miss their turn. How cool is that?

Hold on a sec, there’s a little catch though! You can only play this card when you DON’T have any other card in your hand that has the same COLOR as the one on top of the discard pile. But hey, no worries if you have a card with a matching number or a special Action Card, you can still go ahead and unleash this wild one!

If this card shows up at the very start of the game, just put it back in the deck and draw another card. Simple as that!

Note: If you think someone played a Wild Draw 4 card on you unfairly (meaning they actually had a matching card), you can question them.

You simply ask the player to show you their hand if you suspect foul play. If they are caught red-handed, they have to draw the 4 cards. But if they are innocent, you have to draw not only the 4 cards but also 2 extra cards (a total of 6 cards)!

Welcome to the Wild Customizable Card!

Grab a #2 pencil and get ready for some game-changing fun! With this card, you have the power to shape the rules of the game. Let your imagination run wild (with the consent of the other players, of course).

This card is truly special. You can play it even if you have another card that you could play instead. That’s right – no limits!

Not only do you get to create your own rules, but you also get to choose the color that resumes play. If this card happens to be the first one on the table, the person to the left of the dealer gets to decide which color starts the game.

Oh, and here’s a cool twist: the cards are erasable! So, every time you play, you can write a brand new rule – keeping the game fresh and exciting every single time!

Super Star Card

Feeling unstoppable? Well, guess what? When your opponent tries to hit you with a Draw +2 or Draw +4 card, you can turn the tables on them with the Super Star Card. Just play it and bounce that power right back at them. Now they’re the ones who have to draw +2 or +4 cards!

But wait, there’s more! This card is also a wild card, which means you get to choose the color that the game continues with. And if the Super Star Card happens to be the first one played, the person sitting to the left of the dealer gets to decide which color the game starts with.

Going out

When you’re down to your second-to-last card, it’s time to make some noise! Shout out “UNO” to let everyone know that you only have one card left. If you forget to yell “UNO” and you get caught before the next player’s turn, you’ll have to draw two cards as a penalty.

Once someone plays their final card, the round comes to an end. Points are calculated (check out SCORING) and a new round begins.

When the last card played in a round is a Draw Two or Wild Draw Four card, you have to pick up 2 or 4 cards, respectively. These extra cards count towards your total score.

If no one has gotten rid of their cards when the DRAW pile runs out, we reshuffle the DISCARD pile and keep playing.

The Scores

If you’re the first one to get rid of all your cards in a round, you earn points for all the cards left in your opponents’ hands. Here’s how the points break down:

  • Number cards (0-9): Worth their face value
  • Draw Two: 20 points
  • Reverse: 20 points
  • Skip: 20 points
  • Wild: 50 points
  • Wild Draw Four: 50 points
  • Wild Customizable: 50 points
  • Super Star: 50 points

So, here’s the deal. Once we finish keeping score for the round, if nobody has hit 500 points yet, we’ve got to reshuffle the cards and start a new round.

The Whole Shebang

This is how you win: you gotta be the first to rack up 500 points, my friend. It’s that simple.

A Different Way to Score and Win

Alright, listen up. There’s another way to score some points. After each round, you keep track of how many points each player has left. When one person finally hits 500, the winner is the one with the fewest points. Pretty cool, right?
