The players must follow suit if they can, but if they don’t have a card of the same suit, they can play any card they choose.

The twist in the game is that certain cards have special abilities. For example, the diamond cards are worth points, with the higher-numbered cards being more valuable. Players can play a diamond card to increase the value of a pile, making it more desirable to collect. However, once a pile reaches a certain value, it can be stolen by another player who plays a trump card.

Trump cards are cards of a different suit that have a higher value than the current pile. When a player plays a trump card, they take the entire pile and add it to their own collection. This can be a strategic move, as it allows a player to steal valuable diamond cards from their opponents.

The game continues until all the cards have been played. At this point, each player counts up the number of diamond cards they have collected. The player with the most diamonds wins the game.

The small crystals, of which you’ll need 110, add a dash of elegance to your gameplay. Getting Started

Alright, let’s set things up. First, place all the Diamond Crystals right in the middle of the table. We’ll call this area the Supply.

Now, there are two different sizes of Diamond Crystals you’ll come across:

• Small: These ones are worth 1 point each.
• Large: These ones are worth a whopping 5 points each.

Next, it’s time for each player to gather their supplies:

• 1 Vault: This is where you’ll keep your Diamond Crystals safe. Make sure to keep your Crystal collection hidden from other players.
• 3 small Diamond Crystals: Place these in your Showroom. The Showroom is right in front of you, next to your Vault, but not inside it. This way, all players can see the Crystals in your Showroom.

Hey there! Let me give you a hand in understanding the game better. Take a look at this Player Aid card, which explains the symbols used for Supply, Vault, and Showroom. These symbols represent the Suit Actions that you’ll encounter throughout the game. We’ll discuss Suit Actions in more detail a bit later.

What’s the goal of the game?

The main objective is to have the highest number of points in Diamond Crystals by the time the game ends.

How do you play the game?

First, we need to determine who will be the dealer for this round. We can do that by randomly choosing a player. Now, the dealer shuffles the 60-card deck and deals 10 cards to each player. The remaining cards are put aside and won’t be used in this round. Remember, before starting a new round, all 60 cards will be reshuffled.

It’s worth noting that once all 10 cards have been played in a round, the next dealer will be the player sitting to the left of the current dealer.

How do you pass cards?

Once I’ve taken a good look at my cards, it’s time for me to decide how many of them I want to pass for this round. I have three options: I can choose to pass 1, 2, or 3 cards. Whatever number I decide on, I’ll pass them to the player on my left. In return, I’ll receive the same number of cards from the player on my right, bringing my hand back up to a total of 10 cards.

Now it’s time to start playing!

While playing, I want to make sure I’m strategic with my moves. The goal is to win as many tricks as possible. A trick is a collection of cards played in a single round. To start a trick, a player will play a card from their hand. The other players must then play a card from their own hand that matches the suit of the first card played, if they have one. If a player doesn’t have a card of the same suit, they can play any card from their hand.

After all players have played a card, the player who played the highest card of the leading suit wins the trick. They collect all the cards played in that round and set them aside. This player will also lead the next trick by playing the first card for that round.

Once all the cards in the deck have been played, the round is over and we count up the number of tricks each player has won. The player with the most tricks is the winner of the round!

Remember, it’s not just about winning tricks – it’s about thinking ahead and strategically choosing which cards to play to give yourself the best chance at winning. By paying attention to the cards played by others and making smart decisions, you’ll be able to elevate your gameplay and come out on top.

When a Round begins, it’s your turn to play the first card. As the person sitting to the left of the dealer, you have the honor of leading the trick. After you play your card, the player to your left will take their turn and play a card. This pattern continues until every player has played one card, making up the trick.

When playing your card, it’s important to keep in mind the suit that was led by the first player. You must follow suit if you can, meaning you need to play a card from the same suit that was led. This is a rule that everyone must follow.

However, if you don’t have a card in the led suit, you have some flexibility:

• a. You can play any card you want, regardless of the suit.
• b. When you do this, you immediately get a Suit Action in the suit of the card you played.

So here’s what sets the game of Diamonds apart from other trick-taking games: whenever you can’t follow suit, you’ll get a special “Suit Action” to carry out, depending on the suit you do play.

Suit Actions are also taken by the winner of each trick, as well as at the end of a full Round of play.

Once all players have played their cards to the trick, the player with the highest card in the lead suit takes the trick.

Here’s what happens next:

• a. The winner places the cards from the trick face down in their play area.
• b. Then, they immediately receive a Suit Action corresponding to the suit that was led in the trick. I’ll go into detail about Suit Actions shortly.
• c. Finally, the winner leads a card to start the next trick. If they have no cards left, the Round is over.

Suit Actions

When playing a game, I get to perform a Suit Action at different times. Each suit in the deck has its own special Suit Action. Let me tell you what I do when I perform a Suit Action for each suit:

For Clubs:

I always take Suit Actions as soon as I earn them. I earn them when:

1. When you play a card with a certain suit, you must follow suit and play a card with that same suit.
2. If you win a trick, you get to take the suit action of the suit you played.
3. At the end of a round, players who have taken the most cards in each suit get to take that suit action.
4. At the end of a round, players who have not taken any tricks/cards get two diamonds suit actions.

Remember: You can exchange five 1-point Diamond Crystals for one 5-point Diamond Crystal if needed. However, make sure all five 1-point Diamond Crystals come from either your Vault or your Showroom, never from both.

End of Round

After all 10 tricks have been played, the Round is over. Now it’s time to count the number of cards you have taken in each suit.

Here’s the order in which the End of Round Suit Actions occur:

After each round of gameplay, there are certain actions that are taken based on the cards that each player has collected. These actions are known as Suit Actions, and they vary depending on the suits that players have gathered.

First, let’s talk about the Diamonds Suit Action. The player who has taken the most Diamond cards during the round gets to perform this action. It could be me or any other player. This action allows me to make a special move or play a card that relates to the Diamonds suit.

Next up is the Hearts Suit Action. Just like with the Diamonds Suit Action, the player with the most Hearts cards gets to take this action. It’s always a different player, depending on who has collected the most Hearts cards. This Suit Action allows me to make a strategic move or play a card that is related to the Hearts suit.

Moving on to the Spades Suit Action, which is the suit that comes after the Hearts Suit Action. The player who has collected the most Spades cards during the round gets to take this action. It’s interesting to see who will have the most Spades cards and get to perform this action. This Suit Action allows me to make a move or play a card that is specifically related to the Spades suit.

Lastly, we have the Clubs Suit Action. Just like with the previous actions, the player with the most Clubs cards gets to take this action. It’s always a different player, depending on who has collected the most Clubs cards. This Suit Action allows me to make a unique move or play a card that is related to the Clubs suit. However, it’s important to note that if there is a tie for who has collected the most cards in any suit, then no one gets to perform the Suit Action for that suit.

In addition to these Suit Actions, there is also a special action for players who did not win any tricks during the round. These players get to take two Diamonds Suit Actions. So even if I didn’t win any tricks, I still have an opportunity to make some moves or play cards related to the Diamonds suit.

After all the End of Round Suit Actions are completed, the 60 cards are gathered and reshuffled to start a new round. The number of rounds played depends on the number of players. For a game with 2 players, we play 4 rounds. For a game with 3 players, we play 6 rounds.

How Many Rounds to Play?

When it comes to determining the number of rounds to play in a game, there are a few factors you should consider.

Firstly, the number of players is an important factor. For a game with four players, you should play four rounds. If there are five players, play five rounds. And if there are six players, it’s time for six rounds.

Another factor to take into account is the time available. If you have a limited amount of time, you might want to play fewer rounds to ensure you can finish the game within the allotted time. On the other hand, if you have plenty of time, you might want to extend the game and play more rounds for added fun and excitement.

Lastly, consider the level of engagement and interest among the players. If everyone is thoroughly enjoying the game and eager to continue, you might want to keep playing more rounds. However, if the players are losing interest or getting tired, it might be best to wrap up the game sooner.

Overall, the number of rounds you play in a game is a subjective decision that depends on various factors. By considering the number of players, the available time, and the engagement of the players, you can determine the perfect number of rounds for a fun and memorable game experience.

End of the Game



So, here’s the deal: once we finish all the Rounds, it’s time to tally up our scores. We’re gonna count up how many Diamond Crystals we each collected, and that’s how we’re gonna determine the winner.

Here’s how we calculate the points for Diamond Crystals:

• If you have any Diamond Crystals in your Vault, each one is worth 2 Diamond points.
• If you have any Diamond Crystals in your Showroom, each one is worth 1 Diamond point.

Now, pay attention, because this part is important: the player with the most points in Diamond Crystals is gonna be the winner. But, what if there’s a tie? Well, then we look at the players who are tied, and we check their Vault. Whoever has the most points in Diamond Crystals in their Vault becomes the winner.

But, wait! What happens if there’s still a tie even after we look at the Vaults? Yep, you guessed it, my friend – we’re gonna share the victory! Because, hey, sometimes it’s just too close to call, and sharing is caring, right?

Let me give you an example:

Imagine a player has 21 points of Diamond Crystals in their Vault and 5 points of Diamond Crystals in their Showroom. So, their final score is gonna be 47 points. How did I get that, you ask? Easy peasy: it’s 42 points from their Vault (21 x 2) plus 5 points from their Showroom. Cool, huh?
