WHEN I DREAM

Hey there! Let me tell you about a super fun game called When I Dream. In this game, one of us gets to be the sleeper, while the rest become Dream Spirits. Some are gonna be naughty, but one lucky person gets to be nice! The roles are secretly assigned by the game, so we can’t spill the beans to each other. The sleeper’s job is to guess what happens in their dream by getting hints from the other players, who can only use one word! Once the sleeper figures it out, they share their dream with everyone, and trust me, it’s gonna be a blast!

SETUP

Alright, to start the game, we need to set up the playing area. Put the gameboard in the middle, and let’s place the bed right in the center of the board. Now, we gotta shuffle those Dream Cards real good, so they’re all mixed up. Place them on the bed. The headboard should cover two Elements on the board, and we won’t be using those for the game. Everything’s all set now!

Hey there! Let’s get started with the game setup. We’ll need a sand timer and some point tokens. Put them in the middle of the table, next to the board, so everyone can reach them easily. Each player will also get a certain number of Dream Spirit cards, depending on how many people are playing. The oldest player goes first and becomes the Dreamer. They should put the sleep mask in front of them. And now we’re ready to begin!

How to Play

The game is divided into Night and Day. The Dreamer takes their turn during the Night, and during the Day, they will share their Dream with the group. First, the Dreamer shuffles the Spirit cards and gives one to each player. Make sure to keep your card hidden from the others. Once everyone has their card, the Dreamer can put on the sleep mask.

When the sand timer is flipped, the round begins. I’ll be the one who starts since I’m sitting to the left of the Dreamer. We’ll take turns going clockwise around the group, with each of us giving one-word clues to describe a part of the dream. The Dreamer can interrupt at any time to make a guess, but we’ll keep going with more clues even if they guess wrong.

The Dreamer only gets one guess. If they’re right, we’ll put the card on the yellow side of the board. If they’re wrong, it goes on the blue side. After the two minutes are up, the Dreamer can make their guess. If they don’t want to guess, we’ll just keep going with the same card.

Hey there! So, before you take off that mask, let’s talk about your Dream and what you remember. Share all the elements with everyone, and then you can go ahead and remove your mask to check your points. The Dreamer, the Fairies, and the Boogeymen all score one point for each Dream card that ends up on the yellow or blue side. Once the cards are cleared, we start a new round.

Once everyone gets a chance to be the Dreamer, the game comes to an end. Don’t forget to subtract any penalties you’ve earned from your total points. Whoever has the most points wins the game!
