HOW TO PLAY

In Virtual Hide and Seek, we play a unique version of the classic game where you don’t physically hide. Instead, you think of a spot in your house where you’d like to hide. Then, you let the other players know that they can start seeking. The person who’s hiding will turn the camera on their phone to face the opposite direction to help the seekers. The seekers can ask yes or no questions to figure out where the hider is, like:

• Are you in the kitchen?
• Are you in the living room?
• Are you under the bed?
• Are you in the second cabinet?
• Are you upstairs?

When we play hide and seek virtually, there are some rules we follow. As the hiding player, you can only answer yes or no to questions asked by the seeker(s). If the answer is yes, you must take the phone to the area the seeker(s) correctly guessed. This helps them narrow down your actual hiding spot. Let me give you an example. If the seeker(s) ask, “Are you hiding in the living room?” and your answer is yes, go to the living room. This way, the seeker(s) can ask more questions to find your exact hiding place.

Usually, we have a rule in place that the hiding spot should be a place where a person can physically hide. But if you want to make the game more challenging, you can get rid of that rule. Then, the hiding place can be anywhere! It could be a toaster, the tiny space between the fridge and the floor, or even the toilet bowl!
