Whenever we find a tasty carrot, we get to keep it for ourselves, but any carrots left untouched go to the farmer. Remember, carrots come in three sizes, so aim to collect as many big, tasty bites as you can! The game will go on as long as our bunny hops along the path, exploring the garden.

If you’re up for a little friendly competition, Happy Bunny offers an exciting variation. In this version, each player picks carrots for themselves, and the player with the longest line of carrots will be the ultimate winner!

Ready to Play?

As the starting player, you begin by rolling the die. Look at the color you rolled and move your bunny to the nearest space along the path that matches that color.

When you look at that space, you’ll see a number. This number tells you how many carrots you can take from the garden. Take the carrots out of the box, but be careful. You need to sort them.

The carrots that have a bite on them are the tastiest, and they are for the bunny. Put those carrots in a pile next to the bunny’s house. The carrots without a bite are for the farmer. Put those carrots in a separate pile next to the farmer token.

Example: The die shows purple, so I jump forward to the nearest purple space. Since there is a 3 on the purple space, I grab any 3 carrots from the garden. Out of the 3 carrots, I’ll keep 2, and the remaining unbitten carrot goes to the farmer’s pile.

We keep playing this way throughout the game, taking turns rolling the die, collecting carrots, and sorting them into our piles. Remember, I always move towards the barn and can’t go backward.

Game Over

The game ends when someone fills their pile with 10 carrots. If we run out of carrots in the garden before that happens, we count how many carrots are in the farmers’ pile.

If I have more carrots in my pile than the farmer, I win!

But if the farmer has more carrots, then the farmer wins and I need to try again.

The game finishes when the bunny token reaches the final multicolored space on the garden path.

The multicolored space acts as a “wild” space. If you roll a color that no longer appears in front of the bunny on the path, the bunny hops to the last space and the game comes to an end.

Let’s line up all the nibbled carrots that we gathered for the bunny, from stem to tip. Then, we’ll line up the farmer’s carrots next to the bunny’s carrots.

We all win the game if the line of carrots gathered for the bunny is longer than the line of carrots gathered for the farmer.

If there’s a tie, we should remove the smallest carrots from both lines and compare once more.

A Different Twist

Let’s try something new and exciting with this game! Here’s a competitive variation that will bring a fresh twist to your bunny adventures. Trust me, you’re going to love it!

To start off, place the bunny token on the first space of the garden path, just like before. But this time, we’re all going to take turns being the bunny. Yup, that means each of us gets a chance to hop around and collect carrots for ourselves!

Here’s how it works: when it’s your turn, you’ll roll the die and move the bunny to the closest colored space shown on the die’s face. It should be in the direction of the barn. Once you’ve hopped to your new spot, count the carrots on that space and add them to your own little pile. Remember, you take all the carrots, whether they’re bitten or not!

Now, once the bunny reaches the very end of the garden path, it’s time to compare our carrot collections. Line them up next to each other, from the stem to the tip. Take a good look and see who’s got the most carrots. Will it be you? Or someone else? It’s all about those tasty orange treats!
