Raptor game rules – how to play raptor

RAPTOR

Hey there! I’m about to tell you a gripping story about a game called Raptor. Imagine this: a scientist’s worst nightmare comes true when a fierce Raptor escapes from her enclosure, wreaking havoc in the park. But wait, there’s more! The Raptor has already laid eggs, and they are just about ready to hatch. Yikes! This means you can’t afford to have six dangerous beasts on the loose. It’s up to you to capture the baby Raptors and sedate the mother before time runs out. Are you up for the challenge?

SETUP

Let’s get this game started! First things first, you and your friends need to choose which side of the board you want to play on. Once you’ve made your decision, it’s time to set up the game. Six tiles will be placed randomly on the board, forming a two by three rectangle. To add some unpredictability, four L-shaped tiles will also be placed randomly on the shorter sides of the rectangle. Oh, and don’t forget about the rocks! Make sure to place them on spaces that don’t have a semi-circle or circle. Now you’re ready to dive into the thrilling world of Raptor!

When it’s time to play Raptor, I’ll need a few things. I’ll gather my player aid, Raptor action cards, mother figure, and baby raptor figures. The mother and babies will go on the board, with the mom in one of the two middle spots and the babies scattered randomly.

If I’m the Scientist, my setup is a little different. I’ll gather my player aid, Scientist action cards, scientist figurines, ten fire tokens, and five sleep tokens. I can put my figurines on the four L-shaped tiles, one on each. The rest of the figurines will stay in reserve.

Now we’re all set up and ready to go! We’ll shuffle our cards and put them in front of us. Then, we’ll draw three cards from our decks. It’s game time!

LET’S PLAY!

So, here’s the deal. During the game, you can’t have two figures on the same space. They only count as neighbors if they’re right beside each other.

Now, let’s get started! Each player picks one of the three cards in their hand and puts it face down in front of them. Then, we all reveal our cards at the same time. If they match, nothing happens – pretty simple. But if they’re different, which is more likely, the player with the lower card gets to use the effects on their card.

The other player can choose to spend action points equal to the difference between our cards to do something cool. After that, we each draw a new card, so we always have three in our hands. Then, it’s on to the next round. We keep playing like this until we meet one of the end game conditions. Fun times!

END OF GAME

The game comes to an end in four different ways. If three raptors have escaped or there are no more scientists, then the Raptor wins the game. If the mother has accumulated five sleep tokens or the three baby raptors have been caught, then the scientist wins the game!
