The Different Game Modes in Nemesis
Playing Nemesis offers a variety of exciting game modes for you to choose from. Each mode offers a unique gameplay experience and challenges. Let’s explore the different game modes available:
1. Solo Mode
In Solo Mode, you play the game all by yourself. This allows you to fully immerse yourself in the tense and thrilling atmosphere of Nemesis. You’ll navigate the ship, encounter various events, and face off against the ruthless intruders on your own.
2. Cooperative Mode
Cooperative Mode allows you to team up with your friends and experience the game together. You will work together to overcome obstacles, strategize, and survive the dangerous encounters. Cooperation and communication are key to success in this mode.
3. Hidden Traitor Mode
Hidden Traitor Mode introduces a thrilling twist to the gameplay. Each player will have a secret objective, which may conflict with the group’s main goal. You’ll never know who among your friends is secretly working against you until it’s too late. Suspicion and deceit are integral parts of this mode.
4. Full Cooperation Mode
In Full Cooperation Mode, all players work together towards a common goal. There are no hidden traitors or individual objectives. This mode emphasizes teamwork, coordination, and efficient resource management. Communication and collaboration are vital to succeed in this mode.
5. The Campaign
The Campaign is an immersive mode that allows you to experience a series of interconnected scenarios. Your choices and actions in one scenario will affect the outcome and conditions of the next. This mode offers a dynamic and evolving narrative that keeps you engaged throughout the campaign.
Choose the game mode that suits your preferences and enjoy the unique challenges and thrills of Nemesis. Whether you prefer to go solo, work with friends, or uncover hidden traitors, Nemesis has an option for every type of player.
During our crowdfunding campaign, we unlocked an exciting new game mode for Nemesis. While Nemesis is already a great semi-cooperative game, now you have the option to play solo and try to survive on your own.
In this mode, there is a special deck called the solo/coop Objectives deck. Instead of using the regular Objective cards, you will draw two cards from this deck at the beginning of the game.
Please keep in mind that once the first Encounter happens, you need to choose one of these two Objective cards.
It’s important to note that in this mode, the number of items available in each room is reduced by half (rounding up). For example, if the exploration tokens show 1-2 items, you should set the Item Counter to 1. If it shows 3-4 items, set the Item Counter to 2.
To win in this mode, you must fulfill your objective and survive.
We also have another mode called the Fully Cooperative Mode.
Hey there! I’ve got something exciting to share with you. During our crowdfunding campaign, we unlocked an additional game mode. This mode is perfect for players who want to enjoy the game as a team without worrying about betrayal from their fellow players. Cool, right?
In this mode, we have a special deck called the solo/coop Objectives deck. At the beginning of the game, instead of drawing the regular Objective cards, you’ll draw one card per player. It’s a bit different, but trust me, it adds a whole new level of excitement!
In order to win the game, we must fulfill ALL of these Objectives and ensure that at least one of our Characters survives. It’s a challenge, but I know we can do it!
Now, I want to give you a heads-up. Sometimes, you might come across a card that requires you to send the Signal. If there’s only one of these cards, it means only one Character needs to do it. But if there are two or more, well, you guessed it – that many Characters must send the Signal! Teamwork is key here, so let’s support each other and conquer the game together.
Revive
In this fully cooperative mode, we’ve added a special feature to the Emergency Room – an awesome device called the specialized AutoDoc. With this device, our crew can revive any person who’s on the brink of death. Talk about a life-saver!
When a Character dies, another Character can pick up their Corpse token and bring it to the functioning Emergency Room.
If your Corpse is in the Emergency Room, you start your turn by placing your Character miniature there. This allows you to discard all your Light Wounds and have all your Serious Wounds treated. It is crucial to note that the Emergency Room cannot be used if there is an Intruder or a Malfunction token present.
Being an Intruder
In this mode, I get to keep playing the game even after I’ve been eliminated by controlling the Intruders. It’s like getting a second chance! But here’s the catch – it also makes the game a bit more challenging for everyone else still playing. Keep in mind, though, that this mode is optional, so we can choose whether we want to play this way or not.
If my Character is the first to die, I become the Intruder and can go after the other players. I become the one spreading and causing chaos on the ship. It’s pretty exciting, right?
Just remember, only one player gets to control the Intruders – and that’s me if I’m the first to lose my Character. If two Characters die at the same time, the player with the lower player number will be the one in control.
Here’s how we set it up:
Once I become the Intruder, I need to remove all the components of my former Character from the game. Then, I shuffle the special Intruder Player Action deck and place it right in front of me. This deck will give me the abilities I need to wreak havoc on the ship!
Let’s talk about what happens during the Player Phase of the game. This is the part where you, as the Intruder player, get to make your moves. Here’s how it goes:
Player Phase
- Draw Action Cards – I draw 3 cards from the deck. I can only have up to 4 cards in my hand at a time, so if I have too many, I’ll have to discard some.
- First Player Token – During this phase, I don’t get to be the first player. The other players take turns first.
- Player Rounds – I follow the regular order of play, just like the other players. However, I can only take 1 action at a time. This means I can play a card from my hand or choose to pass.
If I decide to pass, I can keep 1 card from my hand and discard the rest. But if I choose to play an Intruder Action card, I have 3 options:
-
Move – If an Intruder Action card has a number matching the one printed on the Intruder, I can move the Intruder through a Corridor. Note: When the Intruder moves to a Technical Corridor, we follow the standard rules.
- The Intruders don’t attack at the end of the Turn, but they can still surprise us during Encounters or when our Characters Escape from Rooms with Intruders.
- We don’t use Event cards unless the Intruder Player Action card effects require us to.
- There is no Intruder Bag Development step.
Event Phase
During the Event Phase, we skip most of it, except for the Time Track and Fire Damage.
Time Track: Just like in the regular rules, we move the Time marker and the Self-Destruct marker (if it’s active) one space to the right.
Fire Damage: Just like in the regular rules, any Intruder in a Room with a Fire marker suffers one Injury.
My Intruder Bag Discovery Journey
Hey there! Have you ever heard about Intruder Bag Development? No worries if you haven’t, because I’m about to take you on a thrilling adventure!
So, let’s get started! Intruder Bag Development is this cool step in a game where you create a special bag that’s full of exciting surprises. It’s like being a master magician who gets to decide what tricks to pull out of their hat. Pretty awesome, right?
Now, here’s the twist. In this game, the Intruders are not the good guys. They’re the ones trying to mess things up for everyone else. Their main goal is to prevent all the other players from winning. Sneaky, right? It’s like they’re saying, “If I can’t win, nobody else can either!”
The alternative side of the board adds an extra layer of excitement to the game. It’s like a whole new world filled with possibilities. You never know what surprises are waiting for you on the other side. It’s a chance to experience new challenges and test your skills in different ways.
Imagine being in control of the Intruders and having the power to disrupt all the other players’ strategies. It’s a rush of adrenaline as you plan your moves and try to outsmart your opponents. Will they see it coming? Or will you catch them off guard?
But remember, it’s not an easy task. The other players are smart too, and they won’t let you have an easy victory. They’ll do everything they can to make sure you don’t succeed. It’s like a battle of wits, where every move counts.
So, are you ready to embark on this thrilling Intruder Bag Development journey? Get ready to dive into a world of excitement, strategy, and surprises. There’s no telling what you’ll discover along the way!
Victory condition: I just want to make it clear that the Intruders can’t fully win the game. Their mission is to make sure no other player succeeds. After all, if you’re already out of the race, why not bring everyone down with you? That’s their mindset!
Alternative Side of the Board
Guess what? There’s a cool new ship layout that got unlocked during our crowdfunding campaign. And let me tell you, it’s pretty awesome!
So, this layout is actually printed on the back side of the board. You can totally use it like a regular ship board, but it’s actually designed for campaign play. Of course, you can use it in any game mode, but just keep in mind that it’s a little more challenging.
Now, let me tell you about some of the cool features of this ship layout. First, there’s not just one, but two sets of Technical Corridors! They work just like usual, but the thing is, the “red” Technical Corridors are separate from the “blue” ones. So, any Noise marker in the “red” corridors won’t affect the “blue” ones, and vice versa.
Oh, and here’s another cool feature: some of the Rooms are connected to each other through a pair of Corridors. But get this, the Corridors are separate from each other too! So, if there are any Closed Doors in one Corridor, they won’t affect the other Corridor. How cool is that?
