PIG (WITH NO STOCKPILE)

Hey there! Let’s talk about Pig, a fun card game that can be played by 3 to 13 players. The aim of the game is to be one of the last players standing. Exciting, right?

SETUP

Here’s what you’ll need to do to set up the game. First, make sure you have a modified deck with 4 cards of the same rank for each player. Let’s say there are 5 players; then you’ll need the Aces, Kings, Queens, Jacks, and 10s.

Next, choose a dealer randomly. Remember, the dealer changes with each new deal and always passes to the left. The dealer shuffles the deck and deals 4 cards to each player.

GAMEPLAY

Now that we’re all set up, let’s get into the gameplay! After the dealer hands out the cards, each player picks up their hand.

Here’s where things get interesting. Players simultaneously pass one unwanted card from their hand to the person on their left. At the same time, they receive a card from the player on their right. It’s like a card swap! Then, players repeat this process, passing another unwanted card to the left and taking a card from the right.

In this game, I keep going until I have four cards that are all the same. I can’t have more than four cards in my hand. I have to pass a card to the person on my left before I can take the card from the person on my right. I can’t pass another card until the person on my left has taken the card I gave them.

Once I have four cards that are the same, I don’t say anything. I just touch my nose as quietly as possible and keep it there. Once I’ve touched my nose, everyone else can do the same. The last person to touch their nose either loses or is out of the game.

If I lose a life, I have to write the first letter of the word pig. And if I keep losing lives, I keep writing letters until I spell the whole word. But if I lose a life and already have the full word written, I’m out. If we’re playing a longer game, we can use the word Donkey instead.

Every time a player gets eliminated, we take out a rank of cards from the deck.

THE END

When there are only two players left, we both win. It’s as simple as that!
