MEGALAND
Hey there! Are you up for an epic adventure? Well, if you are, then buckle up because Megaland is the game you’ve been waiting for! As we embark on this wild journey, we’ll encounter all sorts of crazy creatures like dragons, bunnies, and who knows what else!
Our goal is simple: we need to collect as many treasures as we can while overcoming challenging obstacles along the way. But here’s the catch – you need to be careful not to get too greedy! If you push your luck too far, all those shiny treasures you’ve collected might just slip right through your fingers.
So, are you ready to take a chance and dive into the exciting world of Megaland? Trust me, it’s a game you won’t want to miss!
SETUP
Let’s get started by setting up the game. First, we need to place all of the star buildings in a row in the center of the playing area. Make sure to keep each building type in separate piles, facing up. We’ll be using all six types.
Next, each player will choose 7 regular building-type cards to add to the game. Place these cards underneath the star buildings in their own individual piles, facing up.
Now, let’s prepare the rest of the game components. Shuffle the level cards and place them in a pile, face down. Don’t forget to place the level tile beside them. Also, you’ll need to place the heart tokens, coins, and jump tokens beside the playing area. Keep the heart cost card beside them as well to create the supply.
Finally, we’ll shuffle the treasure cards and place them in a pile. Now we’re all set up and ready to dive into the game!
Alright, listen up! Here’s what’s going down: First off, every one of us gets a character, a player card, and four heart tokens. Put those tokens on the heart side of your card, got it? Now, the person who played a video game most recently becomes the first player and snags the first player token. And just like that, we’re ready to start this game!

Gameplay
Alright, let’s talk about how the game works. Each round is made up of three different phases. These phases happen one after another, in a specific order. Ready? Let’s dive in!
First things first, we have the first phase. In this phase, everyone gets to send their character to a level. You simply place your character on the level tile that you want to go to. Easy peasy, right?
After you’ve sent your character to a level, it’s time for the next step. In the second phase, you get to draw a treasure card. This card goes right above your character card. Think of it as a nice little bonus for your character.
And that’s it for the second phase! Moving right along to the third and final phase. In this phase, you get to take a look at the treasure card you just drew. It’s a moment of anticipation, really. What goodies did you get? Well, now you can find out!
So, to recap, you’ve got three phases in a round. First, you send your character to a level. Then, you draw a treasure card and place it above your character card. Finally, you reveal the treasure card and see what you got. Simple, right? Now, go ahead and dive into the game!
So here’s how it goes: I’m the first player, and what I do is I draw a card from the level deck, but before I do that, I place it next to the level tile. Now, if there are these skull things on the card, it means trouble for everyone with a character on the tile. Those skulls mean damage, and the more there are, the worse it gets for us. But here’s the cool part: as we go through the levels, we get to keep the treasure cards. They stay with us, floating above our characters, like a reminder of all the awesome stuff we find. So, after that level card situation has been sorted out, it’s decision time. We can either keep going and take more damage, or we can call it a day and head home. If we choose to go home, we get to keep all our hard-earned loot, safe and sound.
So, here’s how it works: first, we all move on to the next phase, the part where we can buy buildings. The cool thing is, we can use our treasures to buy stuff! After we’ve all gotten what we wanted, it’s time for the night phase. But before that, the first player passes their token to the person on their left. And hey, here’s a catch – we have to get rid of any extra treasures we have, except for one treasure for each building we own. Got it?
Now, if someone ends up having twenty coins by the end of the night, the game is over. But if not, we start a new round from phase one. Fun, right?
The Game Ends!
When the night phase ends and a player has more than twenty coins, it’s game over. We all add up our coins and see who has the most. That lucky player wins the game! Start counting those coins!
