A Game We Play Together

Each Mission, One Deck
Inside this box, you’ll find everything you need to play T.I.M.E Stories, including a deck of cards. Each deck represents a different mission or scenario that our agents have to complete successfully. Our goal is to receive the praise and congratulations of our instructor, Bob Lyfen.
Every time we purchase a new deck, the basic rules remain the same, but there may be a few additional details unique to the specific mission. We will be given these details right at the beginning of the mission when we are at our base.
Before we get started, I want to tell you something important – never open a deck until you’re ready to start playing a scenario!
Now, imagine you’re about to explore a brand new scenario. The first thing you should know is that this scenario might include multiple packs of cards (unlike the scenario deck included in this box, which is called Asylum).
If that’s the case, don’t look at the cards just yet. Instead, stack the packs together to create one single deck. Place them in the correct order, with pack 1 on top, pack 2 right below it, and so on.
Deck Manipulation
When I play T.I.M.E Stories, everything I need to complete a mission is contained within the cards of a single deck. That’s why it’s so important that I handle the cards carefully and follow the instructions precisely. If I don’t, I might miss out on the surprise, discovery, and resolution of the riddles that make the game so exciting.
Playing with Two Players
If I want to play T.I.M.E Stories with just one friend, we can! We each get to control two characters in the game. First, we choose our first characters like we normally would. Then, together we select a third character to add to our team. We play the game following the rules for three players.
When it comes to the third container, you and your teammates work together and read the cards. If there’s a disagreement or it’s time to roll the dice, the current Time Captain makes the final decision.
But remember, T.I.M.E Stories is more than just a game – it’s a game of communication. The more players there are, the more fun and exciting the experience becomes!
The Challenge and the Story
Here are a few important things to keep in mind:
- A lot of the scenarios are centered around puzzles, so it’s crucial to pay close attention to what you read, see, and are told.

The Golden Rule
If there’s ever a contradiction between two rules, we’ll follow these guidelines:
- The text on a Receptacle card is the most important, overriding the text on an item card.
- The text on an item card is more important than the text on a location card.
- The text on a location card takes precedence over a Base card’s text.
- The text on a Base card trumps the game’s basic rules.
