Dealing with Tricky Situations in ICECOOL
When you find yourself in a tight spot in ICECOOL, don’t fret! There are special moves you can make to navigate those challenging moments and keep your penguin on the move.
If your penguin happens to be close to a wall or gets stuck in a door, you have an option before flicking it. You can place your penguin on the nearest open spot along the red line, ensuring that the center of the penguin lands on the line. This allows you to continue the game without any hiccups.
Perhaps you’re facing an obstacle that’s blocking your direct path. Instead of giving up, you have the option to adjust your positioning. Take a moment to strategize and find the best angle to flick your penguin. By doing so, you can maneuver around the obstacle and reach your destination.
Remember, ICECOOL is all about finding creative solutions and adapting to the ever-changing game board. Embrace these special situations as opportunities to showcase your problem-solving skills and outsmart your opponents.
So, the next time you’re faced with a challenging situation in ICECOOL, don’t panic. Take a deep breath, assess the board, and make a calculated move. Trust your instincts and show your penguin prowess!
The Red Line Gets an Artful Makeover! Did you know that sometimes the red line of Boston’s subway system is covered with amazing artwork? It’s true!
When artists create their masterpieces on the train, the red line becomes a vibrant canvas. The artwork is so beautiful that even though you can’t see the line anymore, it’s still there underneath.
Don’t Get Trapped!
First off, why are you getting stuck in doors? Maybe you should’ve taken those gym lessons more seriously!
To obtain your fish token, you must pass through a door completely in a single move. If even a small part of your penguin remains in the door frame (when viewed from above), it’s considered “stuck” and you won’t get the fish token.
In the next turn, your penguin must be flicked through the door from a red line (as shown below). Make sure it goes all the way through to count!
Here’s an important note: Sometimes your penguin might go through a door and then rotate back, getting stuck in the same door. Don’t worry, though, because in such cases, it still counts as going through the door. You’ll receive your fish token and the card.
Now, in case you do find yourself stuck in a door, here’s what you need to do:
- Right before you start your flick, take a quick look at the top of the door. You’ll notice a small portion of your penguin visible on both sides of the door. Make sure to position it right on the red line of either room.
So, here’s the deal. Before you take your turn and flick that penguin, let’s talk about what you need to consider. Look at the top of the door. Can you see the penguin from just one side? If so, you can only place it in the room where you can see part of the penguin.
Remember: Once your penguin is stuck in the door, you’ll have to move it to the red line and go all the way through the door in one go to get the fish. No shortcuts allowed!
What happens when it’s not your turn
Have you ever played a game where another player pushes your penguin through a door or into the Catcher? If so, you need to know what happens next.
When this happens, a few things occur. First, if your penguin has a fish token on it and it gets pushed completely through a door, you have to remove the token. Additionally, you get to draw a card as a reward for making it through the door.
If your penguin gets pushed into the Catcher, you lose your ID card. It’s important to remember that your penguin stays in the new spot after being pushed.
Jumping out of the game
If your penguin jumps out of the game, meaning it leaves all five boxes, it will be placed back in the box where it started, and your turn will immediately end. However, you can still use two ones to “Ice Skate.”
If another player’s turn causes your penguin to be forced out of the game, it will be placed back in the box where it started. There is no penalty for this.
Moving another player’s penguin by accident
If you accidentally touch and move another player’s penguin with your hand, you must put that penguin back in its original spot.
