These places hold a special significance to me, whether it’s because of their beauty, history, or the memories I’ve made there. Today, I want to share some of these favorite spots with you, and hopefully, inspire you to visit them too!
The Park
One of my absolute favorite places in the city is the park. It’s a peaceful oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of urban life. When I step into the park, I immediately feel a sense of calm wash over me. The lush green grass, the towering trees, and the sweet smell of flowers instantly transport me to a different world. It’s a place where I can relax, take a leisurely stroll, or have a picnic with friends and family.
The Museum
Another location that holds a special place in my heart is the museum. It’s a treasure trove of knowledge and art. As I walk through the museum, I’m captivated by the stunning exhibits and the stories they tell. Each painting, sculpture, and artifact has a tale to tell, and I feel privileged to be able to explore and learn from them. The museum is a sanctuary for curiosity and a celebration of humanity’s creativity and achievements.
The Market
No visit to the city is complete without experiencing the vibrant energy of the local market. The bustling stalls, the colorful produce, and the enticing aromas create an electric atmosphere. It’s a sensory feast as I wander through the market, soaking in the sights, sounds, and smells. Whether I’m sampling exotic foods, haggling for a bargain, or simply people-watching, the market never fails to ignite my senses and ignite a sense of adventure.
The Theater
Lastly, the theater is a place where I can escape reality and immerse myself in the magic of storytelling. From gripping dramas to captivating musicals, the theater transports me to different worlds and introduces me to diverse characters and perspectives. The performances are not only entertaining but also thought-provoking, leaving me with a renewed appreciation for the power of art. The theater is a place where emotions run high, and I feel a deep connection to the stories unfolding before me.
So, there you have it – my favorite places in the city. These locations hold a special place in my heart, and I encourage you to explore and discover your own favorite spots. Whether it’s a park, a museum, a market, or a theater, these places have the power to inspire, amaze, and uplift. So, go out there and experience the magic that your city has to offer!
When you’re exploring the marvelous city of Caveborn, you’ll come across several spots where you can strategically place your dice to achieve various outcomes.
Placing Your Dice
When playing the game, you’ll notice that the board has slots where you need to place a die with a specific value. You can only put a die on an empty slot, and once you place it, it stays there for the rest of the round. Remember, you can’t combine dice, so only one die can be placed per turn.
Some spots on the board have a fixed number of slots available, regardless of how many players there are. Other spots have a variable number of slots based on the player count. The Setup cards will give you instructions for each player count.
What about the Cavern Tavern?
A crucial task for you is to find a home for Caveborn’s new Settlers. They’ll be waiting for you at the Cavern Tavern, ready to be picked up.
Hey there! Wanna know how to snag one of those awesome Settlers cards? Well, it’s easy! Just follow these dice placement rules:
- First things first, place your dice from left to right. Simple, right?
- The number of die slots available equals the number of players. Fair and square!
- The first slot is open to any die value. Freedom of choice, my friend!
- Now, all other dice must be equal to or higher than the last one placed. Gotta keep raising the stakes!
Here’s an example so everything’s crystal clear: Our friend Sara pops a 2 on Cavern Tavern and helps herself to a Settlers card. Now it’s Katie’s turn, and she’s gotta place a die that’s 2 or higher. She goes for a 3. And see, Melissa? She’ll need to put down a 3 or anything bigger, so she goes all in with a 6!
But wait, there’s more! Whenever someone snatches a Settlers card from Cavern Tavern, another one instantly fills its spot. Gotta keep those options fresh! Oh, and by the way, you can hold up to 3 partially completed Settlers cards. Nice!
Settlers Cards
The Settlers cards represent the families and groups who have come to Caveborn in search of a better life. Each group has specific needs (goods) for their house and a certain amount of money (Victory Points) they are willing to spend for their new home.
Completing a Settlers Card
To complete a Settlers card, you need to:
- Move a House from your Construction Platform to a House Lot on your Player Board. Once the House is moved, it can’t be used for any other Settlers card.
- Spend the Goods listed on the card by returning them to the general supply.
When completing the card, you must spend at least 1 Good of each type listed on the card, but no more than 3 wooden cubes per type. Your Character card allows you to spend an extra Good of a certain type. The number of Goods you spend must be within the required minimum and maximum.
Completing the card has some immediate benefits:
- Get the number of Workers (meeples) that the card shows and put them on your Workers Lot.
- Move up one space on the Nobility track for each star on the card (if there are any).
- Earn Victory Points equal to the number of Goods you have used.
- Earn Victory Points from the Community Buildings on your land (if you have any).
Hey there! Don’t throw away your finished Settlers cards. Instead, arrange them so that you can still see the races on them. Some actions in the game depend on the races you’ve completed, so it’s important to keep track of them.
You can have up to 3 unfinished Settlers cards in your hand. If you want, you can get a fourth card from Cavern Tavern, but you’ll have to get rid of one of your unfinished cards. Don’t worry, there’s no punishment for not finishing a card.
Remember, you can only complete one Settlers card per turn, and you can’t complete the same card more than once.

Construction Yard
Hey there! So, if you want to complete a Settlers card, you gotta have a House to go with it. Lucky for you, you can get one at the Construction Yard.
Now, to grab yourself a House, all you need is 5 Coins and a knack for dice placement. Here’s how it works:
In this game, you and your friends will take turns placing dice on slots. Here’s how it works:
- I’m going to put the dice on the slots, starting from the left and going to the right.
- You can only put as many dice on the slots as there are players.
- The first die you put down can be any number.
- But after that, each die you put down must be equal to or lower than the die before it.
Each time you put a die down, you can buy a House. Take one of your colored houses and put it on your Construction Platform.
For example: I put a die with a number 6 on the Construction Yard and buy a House. Now it’s your turn, and you have to put a die with a number 6 or lower. Let’s say you put a 3. Then it’s Valerie’s turn, and she has to put a die with a number 3 or lower. Let’s say she puts a 2.

What is the Guild Hall?
Hey there! Have you ever heard of the Guild Hall? It’s a really cool place where you can buy a Workshop or a Community Building. The Guild Hall has 6 die slots with a specific die value and cost associated with each slot. Isn’t that neat?
When you want to buy a Building, you need to follow these rules for placing dice:
– The value of the die you place must match the number shown on the Building tile.
In addition, there are a few more things to consider:
– You have to pay the cost displayed on the Building tile.
– You must have either an Apprentice or a Worker that corresponds to the type of Building you want to buy.
Remember, you can find more information on buying and placing Buildings in the Buying and Placing sections.
Once you’ve purchased a Building, it won’t be replaced right away. Instead, it will be replaced during the Upkeep phase.
During the Upkeep phase, any empty slots will be filled by shifting the remaining Buildings to the left. Then, new Building tiles will be added to the empty slots from left to right.
Now let’s talk specifically about buying and placing Workshops.
To become a Guild Master, you’ll need a Workshop. Each Workshop is tied to a specific Guild and can only be placed within that Guild.
You can purchase a Workshop if you have an Apprentice (a meep) in the corresponding Guild.
Once you’ve purchased a Workshop, here’s what you need to do:
- Put the Workshop in the matching Guild’s first available slot on the left side.
- Place one of your Apprentices from that Guild on top of the Workshop to claim it as yours.
- Move up the Nobility track as many spaces as there are stars on the Workshop slot.
- Collect the Victory Point reward indicated on the Workshop slot.
The Apprentice you assign to the Workshop becomes a Guild Master and loses their Apprentice status. You will no longer receive Apprentice benefits from that meeple.
- The Guild Master will not earn you any Coins during the Income phase.
- The Guild Master will not provide you with extra Goods when you purchase them.
The Guild Master is a key figure in your game. They earn you a Good from the Guild during the Income phase. So, when that phase comes around, you get 1 Good (matching the Guild) for each Workshop you own. It’s a nice little bonus!
Now, when you add new Building tiles to the Guild Hall at the end of the round, there’s a little rule to remember. If a Guild already has all 3 Workshop slots filled, any new Workshops that are associated with that Guild get discarded and replaced. It’s important to keep the Guild Hall balanced and fair!
Let’s talk about Community Buildings. These are great because they increase the value of your land and give you extra Victory Points when you complete Settlers cards. But, you can only buy a Community Building if you have a Worker (meeple) on the Workers Lot of your Player Board. Make sure you have a helpful Worker ready to go!
Remember, these are just a few of the important things to keep in mind as you navigate your game. The Guild Master, the Guild Hall, and Community Buildings all play a part in your strategy. Have fun building your world and scoring Victory Points!
Now that you’ve bought a Community Building, here’s what you need to do:
- Take the Community Building and place it on any empty community lot on your Player Board.
- Grab a Worker from the Workers Lot and place it on top of the Community Building.
- Move up 2 spaces on the Nobility track, indicated by the stars on the lot space.
- Collect the 5 VP reward that is shown on the lot.
During the Income phase, you’ll receive the reward that is displayed above your built Community Buildings.
Selling a Workshop or Community Building
If you decide to sell a building on your turn, you can do so as a free action. This action doesn’t require a specific location in the city or a particular die placement.
If you choose to sell a Workshop:
- You’ll receive 3 Coins immediately.
- The VP points you gained by placing the Workshop will be lost.
- Your meeple will be returned to the Workers Lot on your Player Board.
The Workshop is an interesting feature in the game, but it has a unique aspect – it doesn’t belong to anyone. That means, when you use the Workshop, no one gets the rewards for owning it. It’s a bit puzzling, isn’t it? Usually, when you activate a building, the owner gets the benefits, but not with the Workshop.
Now, let’s talk about selling Community Buildings. When you sell one, there’s an immediate effect. It’s important to be aware of this.
- Get 3 Coins.
- Lose 5 Victory Points.
- Send your game piece back to the Workers Lot on your Player Board.
- Remove the Community Building from play.
When I play this card, there are a few things that will happen to me. First off, I’ll gain 3 Coins, which is pretty nice. Who doesn’t like a little extra money, right? But, on the flip side, I’ll also lose 5 Victory Points, which is not so great.
After that, I’ll have to return my meeple to the Workers Lot on my Player Board. It’s like going back to square one. All that progress for nothing. And to add insult to injury, I’ll have to discard the Community Building. It’s like tearing down something I worked so hard to build.
So, overall, this card has its pros and cons. It can give you a little boost in the form of coins, but it also comes with a hefty price tag in the form of Victory Points. And let’s not forget about the setback of losing your game piece and having to get rid of a building you worked so hard to acquire.
In the end, it’s up to you whether you want to play this card. Just keep in mind the consequences that come with it. It’s a risky move, but sometimes taking risks can pay off in big ways. Or it can backfire and leave you wishing you had made a different choice. It’s all part of the game, I guess.
Trading Hub
I’m here to tell you all about the bustling trading hub known as Caveborn! It’s a place where traders from all over the Five Realms come together to buy and sell their wares. It’s an important destination for merchants like me, and I’m excited to share the ins and outs of the Port with you!
So here’s the deal: the Port has 6 slots, and you need to roll a dice to figure out how many Goods you can sell. Each slot corresponds to a dice value from 1 to 6.
Once you have your dice value, you can pick any combination of Goods to sell. It’s all up to you!
But wait, there’s more!
The Ship tiles show you how much demand there is for Goods in the City. The more tiles there are, the higher the demand.
Selling Goods in the game is a simple process. Just follow these steps:
- Take the Good you want to sell, represented by a wooden cube, and place it on the matching empty icon on the board.
- Immediately receive the amount of Coins shown on the tile.
For example, let’s say I have a die with a value of 3. I decide to sell 1 Jewelry, 1 Magic item, and 1 Furnishing. I will earn 3 Coins for the Jewelry, 2 Coins for the Magic item, and 1 Coin for the Furnishing.
The Goods you sell will stay on the Ship tile until the round ends. Once all the spaces for a type of Good are filled, you can no longer sell that particular Good. During the Upkeep phase, any sold Goods are returned to the supply and a new Ship tile is placed in the Port.
Welcome to the Stone Council
I’m part of the Stone Council, a group of six Councilors, one from each race. We have an important job – making sure our races have enough Goods and Coins to thrive in the city. Our demands are represented by these special tiles called Stone Council tiles.
Here’s the deal: when you do business with me, you’ll get a reward. But be warned, the other Councilors won’t be happy about it. They’ll see it as playing favorites, and your reputation in the city, as well as with the High Queen, will take a hit.
But don’t worry, I’ll still help you out. You just need to meet two conditions in order to do business with me:
- You have to be at least at the same level as the nobility requirement indicated on the tile. It’s all about status, you know?
- You also need to have Settlers from the same race as me living in your city. That’s how we keep things fair.
Oh, and let’s not forget, there are three slots available in front of me. You’ll find one slot for each row. Choose wisely!
Filling a Stone Council Tile: A Simple Guide
If you want to fill a Stone Council tile, here’s what you need to do:
To do business with the Councilor, you need to meet two criteria. First, your die must match the value shown on the tile’s row. Once you’ve confirmed this, take the tile and put your die in the matching spot on the tile, not the die-value slot. Now, you have to spend the required Goods and Coins immediately, if any. Don’t forget about that!
When you complete a Stone Council tile, you’ll gain the Victory Points (VP) specified on the tile. But be careful – you’ll also have to move back two spaces on the Reputation track. It’s a bit of a setback, but the VP you gain should make up for it!
During the Upkeep phase, new Stone Council tiles will be added to the empty spaces. Remember to start with the top row and go from left to right.

Get Some Modifier Tokens
If you roll a 1 or 2 on the die, you get a free Modifier token. Roll a 3 or 4, and you’ll not only get a free Modifier, but you can also buy an additional Modifier for just 1 Coin. And if you roll a 5 or 6, you get a free Modifier and can buy up to two more for just 1 Coin each.
Now, let’s talk about replacing Settlers or Buildings.
If you want to mix things up during your game of Settlers, you have a couple of options. First, you can replace the face-up Settlers cards with new cards from the deck. This will ensure that you have a fresh set of possibilities to work with. Alternatively, you can replace the Buildings in the Guild Hall with new ones from the bag. Just make sure to fill the empty slots from left to right, skipping any slots that already have a die in them. These options allow you to introduce new elements into your game and keep things interesting!
The White Castle
If you want to become the head of the Stone Council someday, it’s crucial to uphold your reputation and maintain a good name. And one of the best ways to do that is by paying a visit to the magnificent White Castle.
Why is this so important, you might wonder? Well, let me explain.
High Queen Tabita rules over the land from within the walls of the White Castle. She is a powerful and influential figure who holds great sway over the Stone Council. By establishing a connection and building a rapport with her, you can elevate your own standing and gain valuable support.
Picture this: you stroll through the grand hallways of the castle, exchanging pleasantries with important figures and engaging in meaningful conversations. You make a lasting impression, leaving no doubt in anyone’s mind that you possess the qualities required to be a capable leader.
But it goes beyond just networking. The White Castle is also a symbol of prosperity and prestige. Being seen within its walls signifies that you are not only respected but also hold significant influence. It’s a statement about your position and standing in society.
So, if you aspire to achieve greatness and lead the Stone Council, a trip to the White Castle should be at the top of your agenda. It’s an opportunity to solidify your reputation, forge important connections, and showcase your potential as a future leader.
Are you ready to take the first step towards fulfilling your ambitions? The White Castle awaits, ready to offer you the keys to success.
Hey there! Did you know that all three die slots are available no matter how many players are in the game? So, whether you’re playing with a big group or just a few friends, you can take advantage of all the available slots.
Once you place your die on a slot, something cool happens – your Reputation increases by the amount shown! It’s like a little boost for your character.
Oh, and here’s another neat thing – your new dice value limit kicks in right away. So, you don’t have to wait around or anything, you can start benefiting from it in the very next turn.
