Retrieve Cadaver

Hey there! Let’s dive into how things work in this game. If your Reputation is 7 or higher, you’ll want to check out the stack of cards at this location. You can grab the top card and resolve it right away. And guess what? If your Reputation is a whopping 15 or higher, you can pay 1 franc to take and resolve a second card. How cool is that, huh? When you resolve a card, you get to choose whether you want to gain some expertise or snag some materials. Once you’re done resolving, just discard the card to the bottom of the deck. Oh, and one important thing – don’t worry about replenishing the cards at this location. That only happens during the reset phase. By the way, if you find any cadavers here, they offer stage I and stage II materials.

Only scientists can be placed here. When you place a scientist at this location, you’ll earn some francs based on your Expertise level. If your Expertise is somewhere between 1 and 6, you’ll get 2 francs. If it falls between 7 and 12, it’s 3 francs for you. And if your Expertise is 13 or higher, you’re in for a treat – 4 francs will make their way to your pocket. Nice!

Not to mention, you get to choose one of the face up research cards to keep. But that’s not all! You replace the card you chose with a fresh face up card from the research deck, keeping things fresh and exciting.

Atone

Here’s what you need to do: Choose one of the face-up humanity cards and take it. Then, replace the card you took with a new face-up card from the humanity deck. If the meeple you placed on the board was a scientist, you’ll also receive 1 Humanity.

Buying and Selling Goods

Hey there! Let me break it down for you. Here’s what you can do when placing here:
- You can take out 2 bone materials from your bones space and get 1 franc.
- You can remove 3 materials from your preservation space and earn 2 francs.
- If you pay 2 francs, you can add 1 uncharged Leyden jar to an empty slot on your lab.
- For 1 franc, you can add or replace an ice block on your lab, with the solid side up. This ice block lets you skip the decompose part of the reset phase for this round and the next.
Here’s How It Works for the First Player

When you place your meeple here, you take the first player creature from the current First Player. Now, you’re the First Player! Remember, a meeple placed on this space cannot be bumped.
Once all players have passed this round, you can take the meeple from this location and place it on any legal space (bumping when allowed), and resolve its effect.
Docks
Hire

When you place a card in this space, pick one of the face-up scoundrel cards and pay its cost in the upper left corner. Then, do what it says on the card and choose from the following options, if there are any:

In this text, I will explain to you some important options you have when playing a card game. You have the ability to make choices that can enhance your expertise or increase your humanity. You can also decide to place certain materials on a decomposition track or a bone space in your laboratory. These choices can have a big impact on the outcome of the game, so it’s important to consider them carefully.
When you discard a card at the Dark Alley, you can choose to send it to the bottom of the scoundrel deck and replace it with a new card that is face up.
Important: The scoundrels you hire at this location have different costs and effects. Some may allow you to gain stage I or stage III materials.
Remember: Scoundrel cards are not considered cadaver cards.
Welcome to the Dark Alley!
