Zooloretto Dice Game Rules
I’m excited to share with you the rules of the Zooloretto Dice Game! It’s a fun and engaging game that you’re going to love. So let’s dive in and learn how to play!
The goal of Zooloretto Dice Game is to build the best zoo by collecting animal dice and placing them in your zoo board.
To start, each player receives a player board where they will be placing their animal dice. The game also includes a central board that holds the animal dice available for purchase.
On your turn, you have three options: Take a die from the central board, take a die from the delivery truck, or take a die from the stockyard. You can only take one die per turn.
When you take a die, you must place it on your player board. The dice have different animals on them, such as lions, elephants, and penguins. Each animal has a value, and you earn points based on the total value of the animals in your zoo.
But be careful! If you take an animal that you can’t place on your board, you’ll have to put it in your stockyard. The stockyard can only hold a limited number of animals, so you’ll want to be strategic in your choices.
After everyone has taken their turns, it’s time to score. You earn points for the animals in your zoo, and you lose points for any animals in your stockyard. The player with the highest score at the end of the game wins!
Zooloretto Dice Game is a game of strategy and decision-making. You’ll have to consider which animals to collect and where to place them on your board. It’s a balancing act between maximizing points and managing your stockyard.
So grab your dice and get ready to create the ultimate zoo in Zooloretto Dice Game! Are you ready to accept the challenge? Let’s play!

Time to take a chance with your own zoo! I’m the zoo director of a small zoo trying to fill my enclosures with animals. These animals are worth points when the game ends.
But here’s the catch – once my enclosures are full, any extra animals have to go into the barn. And guess what? They’re worth negative points! So I have to balance carefully to make sure I maximize my points.
Getting Started
Now, how do we set this all up? It’s pretty simple, really.
Depending on how many players we have, we’ll need a certain number of dice. Here’s the breakdown:
- If we have 2 players, we’ll need 6 dice.
- If we have 3 players, we’ll need 8 dice.
- If we have 4 players, we’ll need 10 dice.
These dice are what we’ll use throughout the game. Any extra dice can be put back in the game box. Finally, we’ll place the game board right in the middle of our playing area.
Hey there! Ready to play Zooloretto Dice Game? Let me explain the rules to you!
First, choose the side of the game board with 3 delivery trucks if you’re playing with 2 or 3 people. If there are 4 of you, use the side with 4 trucks. Each truck has 3 crates.

Now, give each player a sheet from the score pad. These sheets will be your zoos. Make sure everyone has a pencil to keep score. The youngest player gets to go first.
How to Play the Game
So, here’s the deal: we’re gonna play this game over a few rounds. When it’s your turn, you’ve got two choices:
- Grab two dice, roll ’em, and then add up the numbers. Whatever total you get, you can put those dice on any empty crates in the delivery trucks.
- If you’re not feelin’ a roll, you can also snatch all the dice from one of the delivery trucks and call it a day. Just make sure you’re done for the rest of the round.
Once everybody has taken their turn with a delivery truck, the round is done and we move on to the next player, going clockwise (yeah, we’re sticklers for rules).
A. Roll the Dice and Add Them to the Delivery Trucks
Okay, so if you wanna go with Option A, here’s the dealio: grab two dice from the supply, give ’em a roll, and remember, no takebacksies! Once you’ve done that, you gotta take those dice and put ’em on the empty crates in the delivery trucks.
Oh, and listen up, this is super-duper important: you can’t change the numbers on the dice after you roll ’em. We gotta keep it fair, ya know?
You have two options for delivering crates in the game. First, you can add both dice to the same delivery truck or split them between two trucks. But remember, you can’t put more than three dice on any one truck.
However, if there are no more dice available, you can’t choose this action. Instead, you must choose action B.
Now let’s talk about action B. This involves taking all the dice from a delivery truck and not taking any more actions for the rest of the round.
When you choose this action, you take all the dice from the truck of your choice and put them in the space for dice in the upper right-hand corner of your zoo. Then, you add the symbols shown on those dice to your zoo.
But here’s an important rule: You can only choose a delivery truck that has at least one die on it.
Once you’ve taken dice from a truck, you have to pass for the rest of the round. You won’t get another turn until the next round.
Hey there!
I wanted to talk to you about this awesome feature in our game. It’s all about this delivery truck that everyone can use!
Here’s how it works: When a player has passed their turn, you’ll see some dice in the upper right-hand corner of their zoo. That’s how you can tell they won’t be taking any more turns in the current round.
Now, let’s talk about adding symbols to your zoo. It’s super important to follow these rules:
Animal Symbols
For each animal symbol, you need to cross off a space in the corresponding enclosure. Make sure you fill the enclosures from left to right.
If the enclosure is completely filled, you should mark off the barn area for that specific animal. If the area has already been marked off, you can disregard the animal symbol.
When I play this game, the moment I fill an enclosure with one type of animal, I have to make sure I announce it. If I’m the first player to do this, I get a bonus. Oh, and once I’ve claimed the bonus, I need to cross off the space to the left of the enclosure on my sheet.
Hey there! I wanted to tell you something important: no one else can get the bonus for that animal type anymore. Cool, right?
Coin Symbols
For each coin symbol, just mark off a space in the ticket office. Simple! Remember, the ticket office should be filled up from left to right. And once it’s full, you can stop worrying about any extra coin symbols.

The Round is Over
After each player has taken dice from a delivery truck, the round comes to an end. Put all the dice back into the supply and get ready for a new round. The player who took dice last in the previous round starts the next round.
Note: If there’s only one player left in a round, they can keep playing and take multiple actions, if they can, before finally choosing a truck and passing.
The Game Comes to an End
If a player, after passing, fills all their enclosures or only has spaces left in one enclosure, then the game will end at the end of the current round. Once every player has taken dice and passed, the game is over, and it’s time to tally up the scores.
Calculating Scores
Now it’s time to figure out the points for each player’s zoos. Add up the positive and negative points and write them in the corresponding score spaces:
In this game, you’ll earn points by crossing off spaces on the animal enclosures. Each crossed-off animal space is worth 1 point. But there’s more to it than that!
You can also earn points by crossing off bonus spaces next to the enclosures. These spaces have numbers on them, and you’ll score the number of points indicated by the adjacent hex.
Now let’s talk about the coin spaces in the ticket office. There are six of them, split into three groups. You have to decide how to use each fully crossed-out group. Here are your options:
– You can use a complete coin group to earn 1 point.
– Or you can use a complete coin group to remove one crossed-out animal type from the barn.
At the end of the game, you’ll add up all your points and write the total in your bottom score spaces. The player with the most points wins!
If there’s a tie, the winner is the player with the most coins. And if there’s still a tie, then there will be multiple winners. Good luck!

Example: When I have animals in my enclosures, I earn 1 point for each one of them.
I can also get extra rewards if I’m the first person to fill up the crocodile and lion enclosures all the way.
I managed to finish one group of coins and I used it to take out the crossed-out crocodile from my barn.
But since I still have an ostrich left in my barn, it’s gonna cost me 2 negative points.
