Say Anything Family Edition Game Rules

Now, pay close attention, because this is where it gets interesting. Each player, again including you, secretly picks their favorite answer, whether it’s their own or someone else’s.

With the choices made, the reader turns to you, one by one, and asks, “What did you say?” You take your turn and reveal your favorite answer. The reader writes down your chosen answer on the scorepad. Trust me, this game is just full of surprises!

But wait, the excitement doesn’t stop there! It’s now the big moment to reveal which answer was the favorite overall. The reader goes through the answers one more time, and everybody votes on their top pick. The reader tallies up the votes, and the answer with the most votes wins the round!

Keep in mind, though, that there are no right or wrong answers. It’s all about personal preferences and having fun! Remember, this game is designed to bring out your creativity and also show you what makes others tick. It’s a fantastic way to learn more about your family and friends.

As you play more rounds, you’ll notice the scores adding up on the scorepad. When you reach the end of the game, simply tally up the points, and the player with the highest score wins! Yay!

Components

• There are 60 question cards
• You will have 6 dry-erase pens
• Also, 6 dry-erase boards
• Don’t forget the Select-O-Matic 6000
• Each player will receive 12 player tokens
• You’ll have 1 dry-erase score board
• And lastly, there will be instructions

Setup

You will need a Dry Erase Pen, an Answer Board, and 2 Player Tokens that match the color of your Answer Board. Make sure you have some napkins handy to wipe off your answers between questions.

Choose someone to be the Score Keeper. They will keep track of the scores on the Score Board.

The youngest player will start the game. They will be in charge of using the state-of-the-art SELECT-O-MATIC 6000.

Let’s Ask a Question and Write Answers

Hey there! If you’re lucky enough to have the SELECT-O-MATIC 6000, then you get to be the Judge, cool, right? Here’s what we’ll do: first, grab a Question Card and go through the questions. Once you’ve picked one that catches your eye, go ahead and read it out loud. Easy peasy!

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Everyone else, including you, will write down their answer on their Answer Board. And remember, time is of the essence! As soon as you’re done, place your answer face-up on the table.

Picking My Favorite Answer

When all the Answer Boards are flipped over and lying on the table in front of us, I get to choose my favorite answer. It’s a special moment, and I don’t want anyone to know which one I pick.

I have this cool gadget called the SELECT-O-MATIC 6000. It helps me make my decision without anyone seeing. I place it face-down on the table.

Can You Guess the Judge’s Favorite?

Hey there! Ready to have some fun? Let’s play a game where we try to figure out which answer the Judge liked the most.

Guess what? You can totally participate! Here’s how:

• To play the game, you have two options:
• Place both of your Player Tokens on the same answer, OR
• Split your Player Tokens between two different answers. You don’t have to choose your own answer.

How the Round is Scored

Once you’ve placed your Player Tokens, I’ll reveal my favorite answer by turning the SELECT-O-MATIC 6000 face-up.

Here’s how the scoring works:

• You get 1 point if I choose your answer.
• You also get 1 point for each Player Token you placed on the answer I chose.
• I get 1 point for each Player Token placed on the answer I selected. But the maximum I can score is 3 points.

Remember: The most any player, including me, can score in a round is 3 points.

Getting Ready for the Next Round

If you want to take control of your Answer Boards and Player Tokens, here’s what you need to do. Simply grab a napkin, and use it to easily erase your answer. You’ll find that fingers can leave behind an oily residue, so it’s best to avoid using them. Once you’ve cleared your answer, go ahead and pass the Question Cards and the SELECT-O-MATIC to the player on your left. This way, everyone gets a chance to engage with the game and have some fun!

The Game is Over

Once everyone has asked 2 questions, the game comes to a close. And now, it’s time for the moment of truth – determining the winner! The player with the most points emerges as the ultimate champion. But, hold on tight, because if there happens to be a tie, all players who share the top spot claim victory together.

Burning Questions Cleared Up

What if two players write the same answer?

Here’s the deal: only the answer that is placed on the table first counts. That means if another player has the same idea, they’ll have to come up with a fresh response.

If there’s any debate or dispute about which answer was the first one, the Judge takes charge and resolves the issue.

What if two answers are similar?

Well, it all boils down to one person – the Judge. They hold the power to decide whether similar answers are truly identical or not.

For instance, if the answers “Food Fight!” and “throw pies in their face” seem quite similar, the Judge will determine if they are actually the same thing. And if that’s the case, refer to the previous question for the next steps.

Can I fight for the answer I wrote?

You bet you can! Feel free to make your case and lobby for the Judge to choose your answer. It’s all part of the excitement and fun of the game!

I’m the Judge. Can I sway the other players?

A: Nope! When I’m the Judge, I can’t nudge the other players in any way. I can’t drop hints about my favorite answer or help them guess which one I chose.

But hey, once the round is over, it’s cool to share my thoughts.

Can I change my Answer?

A: Only if someone else is still thinking of what to write.

Do I have to write an Answer?

A: Nope. If I’m the last one and my brain’s drawing a blank, I don’t have to write anything. I still get to take a guess at the Judge’s answer though!
