A Qwirkle is when you have a sequence of 6 cards that are either all the same shape or all the same color, with no duplicates.

The player with the biggest set of cards that are all one shape or all one color, without duplicates, gets to go first. If there’s a tie, the oldest player in the tie gets to go first. And just so you know, the first player doesn’t have to play their biggest set of cards. The game continues in a clockwise direction. If none of the players have a set of at least 3 cards to start the game, then we shuffle all the cards and deal them out again.

I can’t have the same card show up twice in a set. So if I’m making a set of squares, they can’t all be red squares. To start a new set, I’ll need to play at least 3 cards that share something in common, no duplicates allowed.
