Welcome to Catch 22 Game Rules!
I want to tell you all about the exciting game of Catch 22 and how to play it. So, what is Catch 22? Well, let me break it down for you. Catch 22 is a thrilling game that will test your skills and challenge your mind. It’s all about strategy, quick thinking, and a little bit of luck.
Now, let’s dive into the rules of the game. The goal of Catch 22 is to be the first player to reach 22 points. Sounds simple, right? Well, here’s the catch. You can only score points if you have exactly 22 points at the end of your turn. If you go over 22, you lose all your points for that round. Talk about a tricky situation!
To start the game, each player is dealt 5 cards. These cards have different point values ranging from 1 to 10. On your turn, you can either draw a card from the deck or pick up the top card from the discard pile. Then, you must choose one card from your hand to play and discard one card face up on the discard pile. The card you play will either help you get closer to 22 points or try to prevent your opponents from reaching that magic number.
But here’s where the real challenge comes in. Each card has a special action associated with it. These actions can be used to your advantage or against your opponents. For example, you might play a card that allows you to steal a card from another player’s hand or force them to skip their next turn. The possibilities are endless, and it’s up to you to strategize and make the right moves.
As you continue playing, you’ll notice that Catch 22 can be a game of risk and reward. Sometimes, it’s better to play it safe and hold onto low-point cards to avoid going over 22. Other times, you might take a chance and play a high-point card, hoping to hit that magic number. It’s all about finding the perfect balance.
Remember, the game isn’t over until someone reaches exactly 22 points. So, even if you’re far behind, there’s always a chance to make a comeback and snatch victory from your opponents. It’s a game of twists and turns, where anything can happen.
So, are you ready to take on the challenge of Catch 22? Gather your friends and family, and let the games begin! With its simple rules, strategic gameplay, and unexpected twists, Catch 22 is sure to entertain and captivate players of all ages. Get ready to embark on an exciting journey of strategy, luck, and a little bit of chaos. Good luck, and may the best player reach 22 points first!

CATCH 22 is a game that’s all about taking the money and running! As I move around the board, I aim to collect gold tokens, but I also have to watch out for other players and any Blocker Cubes that might be in my way.
What You Need to Play the Game
To play the game, you will need a few things:
- A game board
- Blocker cubes
- Gold play tokens
- Game pawns
- A die
- Instructions
Setting Up the Game
To start the game, each player picks a game pawn and gathers five Blocker Cubes of their chosen color. For example, if you choose the red pawn, you would also take five red Blocker Cubes.

When you’re playing this game, you get to choose where you want to start. You can place your pawn on any one of the four Star squares. And guess what? If you want, you can even start from the same Star square as someone else!

Hey there! So, here’s the deal: we’ve got these special squares on the board called Jackpot squares. Cool, right? Well, on each of these squares, there’s a number that tells us how many gold tokens belong there. And let me tell you, these gold tokens are what we’re after!
Now, before we kick things off, we all need to pitch in and fill in every single Jackpot square. How do we do that? Easy! We just need to place three gold tokens in the squares that show a ‘3’, and so on. Let’s make sure those squares are all ready to go!
Quick side note: we might end up with some extra tokens after filling all the Jackpot squares. No worries, though! These extras are there just in case we lose some tokens during the game. They won’t be used in the actual game, so keep that in mind!
Now, to figure out who gets to go first, we’re gonna roll the die. Whoever gets the highest number wins the honor of taking the first turn. Let the games begin!

How to Play the Game
So, here’s what you need to do: roll the die and move your playing pawn. Easy enough, right? But there’s a catch! You can only move along the yellow squares on the board. Those blue squares are off-limits. No crossing over or landing directly on them, got it?
Take a look at Figure 1 below. It shows you all the possible squares you can land on (marked with an ‘X’) if you roll a ‘4’ at the beginning of the game. Pretty straightforward.

Now, when it’s your turn, keep an eye out for squares that have special effects on your movement or position. It’s all part of the challenge!
Spin Again. Figure it out!
Swap Spots. If you land here, switch places with a player of your choosing. Move your piece to where their piece is, and their piece to where yours is. Your turn ends.
Always keep your eye on the prize – getting gold tokens! You can achieve this in two ways:

- Get lucky on a Jackpot square. If you land on a Jackpot square, you hit the jackpot! Collect all the tokens in that jackpot. Then, it’s time to roll again.
- Take down another player. If you land on an opponent’s playing pawn, you can snatch all the gold tokens they have. Just like that, you steal their treasure! Your turn ends after this courageous move.
Create a winning plan: Think ahead before rolling the dice. You have the power to place your Blocker Cubes strategically on the board (check out ‘Blocker Cubes’ below).
After you finish your turn, the next player takes their turn, and it keeps going around in a clockwise direction.
Blocker Cubes

Blocker Cubes, you see, they’re like the secret weapons of the game that can totally change how things go down.
For instance, let’s say you wanna stop the other player from snagging that sweet Jackpot. Well, that’s where your Blocker Cubes come in. You can plunk ’em down and bam! No more Jackpot for them.
Or maybe you wanna mess with their whole game plan and throw ’em off track. Easy peasy – just slap a Blocker Cube in their path, and watch ’em scramble.
So here’s the lowdown:

- During my turn, I can only place Blocker Cubes on the board. I must do this before rolling the die. I can place as many Blocker Cubes as I want, from 1 to 5, at one time.
- I can only place a Blocker Cube on a yellow square that is empty. I can’t place it on a square with a picture, like Jackpot or Dice. I also can’t place it on a square where another player’s pawn is.
- My opponents aren’t allowed to cross over or land on top of my Blocker Cubes. But I can freely cross over and even land on top of my own Blocker Cubes. If my pawn is on top of one of my Blocker Cubes, I’m safe from my opponents. They can’t land on me and steal my gold tokens!
Hey, did you know that when you’re playing the game known as Blockers, there’s an important rule that you need to keep in mind? You can’t use your Blocker Cubes to completely block another player’s movement. Yep, that’s right! Everyone needs to have at least one path to move along.

Figure 2: Example of Blocking Movement
So, let’s say you’re playing the game and you try to place your Blocker Cubes in a way that completely prevents another player from moving. Nope, can’t do that! Gotta leave them at least one path to make their move. It’s like a little puzzle game within a game. Gotta think strategically and plan your moves carefully.
Now, you might be wondering why this rule is so important. Well, imagine if you were completely blocked off from moving anywhere. It wouldn’t be much fun, would it? You’d be stuck and unable to make any progress. That’s why we want to make sure that everyone has a fair chance to keep the game going.
Did You Know?
Blockers is a game that requires both strategy and luck. It’s all about trying to outwit your opponents and come out on top. So, if you think you’re up for the challenge, grab some friends and give it a try!
So, remember, when you’re playing Blockers, make sure to give everyone a fair shot at moving around. Keep that path open and let the game flow. It’s all part of the fun!

The only way for me to get rid of a Blocker Cube that I or another player put on the board is to step on a Remove Cube square. When I land on this square, I have a couple of options. I can remove one of my opponent’s Blocker Cubes and keep it for the rest of the game. Or, I can remove one of my own Blocker Cubes if it’s not really helping me anymore, and then place it again later on. It’s like a strategy game within a game!
End of the Game
I win the game when I collect at least 22 gold tokens and make it back to one of the four Star squares on the edge of the board. I need to be quick and strategic to be the first one to do this!
Heads up: You don’t have to land on, but just cross over any of the Star squares – it can be any Star square, not necessarily the one you began from.
Something to remember: If you happen to misplace any of the gold play tokens that come with this game, you can always use real coins in the Jackpot squares – just be sure to return the money to each player at the end of the game!
