Reinforcement Packs
These packs come with Units for different factions, including Mercenary Units.
Deck Building
In this set, Faction Decks are already made and ready to play. But as you collect more Summoner Wars products, you can create a deck that matches your play style.
Mercenaries
In other Summoner Wars products, there are special Unit Cards called Mercenaries. These cards are gray and don’t have a faction symbol. You can add up to 6 Mercenary cards in any deck.
Note: Mercenary cards have a different card back color compared to the rest of your cards. This means other players can tell if you have a Mercenary card on top of your Draw Pile or in your hand.
How To Create Your Own Deck
To construct your custom Summoner Wars Deck, you’ll begin by selecting a Summoner. Grab the Unit Card and Reference Card that correspond to that Summoner. On the Reference Card, you’ll find a list of Event Cards. It’s essential to include each of the listed Event Cards in your deck – no more, no less.
The Summoner’s Reference Card also contains a ‘Starting Set-Up’. This Starting Set-Up determines which cards will be placed on the Battlefield at the start of the game, as well as their specific positions. For your Summoner, you must include all the cards specified in the Starting Set-Up into your deck.
Lastly, you’ll need to add 2 Wall Cards to your deck. These cards will provide defensive support during the game.
Now, armed with these guidelines, you have the freedom to construct your unique Summoner Wars Deck. Choose the cards wisely, and may victory be yours!
When creating your own custom deck for the Summoner Wars Master Set, there are a few important guidelines to keep in mind:
- First, you need to choose a faction for your Summoner. Each faction has unique abilities and strategies, so it’s important to pick one that suits your playstyle.
- Once you’ve chosen your faction, you can start building your deck. Your deck should include a variety of Unit Cards, Event Cards, and Wall Cards.
- To begin, add 1 Summoner Card to your deck. The Summoner is a powerful unit that serves as the leader of your faction.
- Next, add 9 Event Cards to your deck. Event Cards provide special abilities and bonuses that can be used strategically during the game.
- Then, add 3 Wall Cards to your deck. Wall Cards are defensive structures that can protect your units and hinder your opponent’s progress.
- Now, it’s time to add the units. Your deck should contain a total of 18 Common Units and 3 Champion Units. All of the Units in your deck must belong to the same faction as your Summoner, with the exception of Mercenary Unit Cards.
- Keep in mind that you can never have more than 1 copy of a specific Champion Unit in your deck, nor can you have more than 10 copies of a specific Common Unit.
So, overall, your custom deck will consist of 1 Summoner, 9 Event Cards, 3 Wall Cards, 18 Common Units, and 3 Champion Units. Make sure to follow these guidelines and have fun creating your own powerful deck!
Adding More Players
By default, the Summoner Wars Master Set is designed for 2 players. However, if you want to play with more people, there are a few options:
- Purchasing an additional Master Set, Starter Set, or Battlefield board will allow you to play with up to 4 players. This way, you can engage in epic battles with your friends and expand the strategic possibilities of the game.
3-4 Players
If you’re playing with 3 or 4 players, here’s what you need to know:
- Each player should have their own faction and custom deck.
- During gameplay, players take turns in a clockwise order, with each player controlling their own faction and making strategic decisions to outwit their opponents.
- The gameplay rules remain the same, but with the addition of more players, the battlefield becomes more dynamic and unpredictable.
To play a game with 3-4 players, let’s start by setting up the Battlefields. Place 2 of them side by side, just like in the example on page 20 of the rulebook.
Now, let’s divide the players into 2 teams. Each player will choose a deck and put their Starting Setup cards on the Battlefield. In a game with 3 players, one of them will be on their own team. That player should select 2 decks and play each of them on separate turns. Keep in mind that when it comes to interpreting the rules, a player who is using 2 decks is treated as 2 separate players with 2 separate turns.
Next, let’s roll the dice. The player who gets the highest number will go first. If there’s a tie, simply roll again.
From here, gameplay will go back and forth between the teams, following the diagram on page 21.
And that’s it! You’re ready to play with your friends. Have fun!
When you’re playing a game with 3-4 players, it’s possible that both players on one side might choose to use the same Units in their decks. To keep track of which cards belong to each player, you might want to sleeve your cards in a way that makes them easy to identify.
If you’re playing in a tournament and both you and your opponent are using the same faction, it can be helpful to sleeve your cards in opaque-backed sleeves. This way, it’s easier to tell which cards are yours and which ones belong to your opponent. It also hides any Mercenaries you have in your deck. It’s not just okay to do this, we actually recommend it.
Additional Rules for 3-4 Players
The rules for 3 or more players are the same as the rules for 2 players, but there are a few additions:
- When placing Wall Cards, you’re allowed to place them anywhere on your team’s side of the Battlefield.
When you’re moving, you can go from one Battlefield to the other. This can be done by moving along the sides of the adjacent Battlefield Boards or by going from one far side of the Battlefield to the other far side. Just remember that in the 2 player game, it’s not allowed to move or attack from one far side of the Battlefield to the other. Attacking follows the same rules as moving when it comes to having multiple Battlefield Boards. You can attack across one Battlefield Board and hit a card on another Battlefield Board, like the example on page 20 of the rule book shows.
When a player’s Summoner is destroyed, they have to discard all their remaining cards and remove their Draw Pile and Discard Pile from the Battlefield. Then, the player must place all their cards in their Magic Pile face down on top of their teammate’s Magic Pile. This means that they are no longer able to participate in the game.
During your Build Magic Phase, you can not only remove cards from your hand and place them in your Magic Pile, but you can also remove any number of cards from your Magic Pile. These cards can then be placed face down on top of a teammate’s Magic Pile.
Here are some examples of how to move and attack in a 3-4 player game.
Here’s an example of how the game is played when there are 3-4 players. Player 1 and Player 3 are on the same team, while Player 2 and Player 4 are on the other team:
