WINGSPAN
Hey there! I’m on an exciting mission to attract the most amazing birds to my network of preserves. I’m a dedicated researcher, collector, ornithologist, and bird watcher, and I want to create the ultimate sanctuary for these beautiful creatures. Join me on this adventure!
LET’S GET STARTED
First things first, we need to set up the game. I’ll shuffle the bird cards and place them in a deck right next to the bird tray. Oh, and speaking of the bird tray, we need to put three bird cards in it and make sure they are facing up. The food and egg tokens will go in the general supply, so we can all have access to them. Finally, we’ll place the food dice inside the birdfeeder dice tower, and we’re ready to go.
When we start playing, we each get to pick the goals we want to achieve. Then, we put the goal board on the table, and we shuffle the goal tiles and randomly place them on the board.
We also shuffle the bonus cards and put them on the table. Each of us gets a player mat, eight action cubes, two bonus cards, two bird cards, and a food token for each type of food.
If we want to keep the bird cards, we have to pay one food token for each bird we want to keep. We also have to choose one bonus card to keep and one to discard. To determine who goes first, we randomly select one player from the group, and then we can start the game!
LET’S PLAY
Let me tell you about a fun game I discovered! It’s called “The Bird Game,” and it’s played in four rounds. Each round, we take turns, going in a circle until everyone has used their action cubes. On your turn, you get to choose from four different actions.
The first action is playing a bird from your hand. To do this, you need to place an action cube on the “Play a Bird” space. Once you do that, you pay the cost of the bird in eggs and food, and then you can place the bird on the board. Oh, and when you do, the bird’s special power gets triggered. Pretty cool, huh?
The second action is gaining food and activating bird powers. This means you can collect food tokens and use any special abilities your birds have.
The third action is laying eggs and activating bird powers. Just like before, you place an action cube on the “Lay Eggs” space, and then you get to lay eggs on your bird cards. And, of course, you can activate any bird powers that come with laying eggs.
The fourth action is drawing bird cards and activating bird powers. This lets you draw new cards from the deck and activate powers that are triggered by drawing cards.
It’s important to pay attention to the process outlined on your player mat so you know exactly how each action works. Have fun playing “The Bird Game”!
When I finish using all of my action cubes, the round comes to an end. Then, all of my action cubes are taken off my player mat, and we score the round. We remove any bird cards that are facing up and replace them with new birds in the bird tray. The player who goes next becomes the first player. We keep playing like this for four rounds until we figure out who the winner is.
END OF GAME
The game ends after we finish playing the fourth round. We can use the scorepad to add up the points we got from birds, bonus cards, end-of-round goals, and points we got from eggs, food tokens, and cards we found under bird cards. The player with the most points wins the game!
