SETUP
Let’s get started with the setup. Place the Malpaso battlefield cards in the center of the table within reach of both players. Make sure to position the Los Quantos Bridge card on the left and the Abandoned Silver Mine card on the right. Put the Dynamite cards to the left of the Los Quantos Bridge card, and place the Collapse the Tunnels and Gatling Gun cards beside the silver mine.
At the beginning of each battlefield, the power tokens and true grit tokens are placed in a supply pile. Ahead of me, as the guardian player, I’ll put the seven player first character cards. Then, the remaining guardian cards are shuffled and placed facedown in the middle, creating the draw pile. I should also grab the Mexican Army card and place 12 tokens on it.
Now, it’s time to start playing poker. I’ll gather my deck, give it a good shuffle, and set it up in my playing area. Next, I’ll draw five cards and hold them in my hand. We’re all set to begin!
LET’S PLAY
When playing the game, we take turns. I start, then you go, and we continue like this until someone wins! In the beginning, I’ll be the guardian player. Each turn, we have a few things to do: advance our turn marker, draw cards, play cards, and attack.
First, we advance the turn marker by moving it one place forward. If it’s already at the last place, we move it to the first place on the next battlefield. If I’m on the right spot, I’ll draw some guardian cards. After that, we each draw two cards from our decks and add them to our hands.
So here’s how it works: you, as the player, can choose to play any number of cards from your hand onto your side of the battlefield. To play a card, just pay the fee shown on the left side of the card. Once you’ve played your cards, it’s time to start the attacks!
Now, the General Mapache player gets to attack a bandit during each of their turns. Both players will tally up their firepower on their respective sides. The player with the highest firepower comes out as the winner of the attack. If the Mapache player has more firepower, then one of the bandits is defeated! After the attack, a new turn begins, and the cycle continues.
Here’s How It Ends
The game concludes when one of the players achieves their objective. The first player to meet their objective wins the game. It’s a race to the finish!
