Welcome to Prostoy Durak!
Prostoy Durak is a fun card game that you can play with 2 to 4 people. The goal of the game is simple: get rid of all your cards before your opponents do!
Getting Started
Before we begin, let’s prepare the deck. We’re going to take out all the cards numbered 5 and below, leaving us with a deck of 36 cards.
Now, let’s decide who will be the first dealer. We can do this by picking someone randomly or choosing the person who lost the last round.
Once the deck is ready, the dealer will shuffle the cards and deal 5 cards to each player, going around in a circle. After everyone has their cards, the dealer will place one card face up on the table. This card will determine the trump suit for this round. The rest of the deck is placed face down on top of the revealed card, so everyone can still see the suit.
Welcome to the World of Card Games!
So, here’s the deal with cards. They have ranks, and it goes like this: Ace is the highest, followed by King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, and lastly, 6. This ranking applies to all cards, including the trump cards.
Let’s Play!
Alright, let’s get this game started! The first player is the one sitting to the left of the dealer. Now, when it’s your turn, you’re the attacker, and the player to your left becomes the defender. Ready? Let’s dive in!
When it’s your turn, you have three options: play 1, 3, or 5 cards. But here’s the catch – there are certain requirements you need to meet, depending on how many cards you want to play.
If you want to play just one card, you can play any card you like. No restrictions here – go wild! Now, if you want to play three cards, at least two of them need to be a pair. You can play any other card as the third one. And finally, if you’re feeling adventurous and want to play five cards, you’ll need either two pairs or four of a kind, plus one extra card.
When it’s time to play your cards, make sure to place them face up in the play area. Once you’re done, it’s the defender’s turn to make a move.
When I’m defending, I can beat a card by playing a higher card of the same suit or any trump card that outranks it. If I beat a card, both cards are discarded. But if I can’t beat a card, I have to take it into my hand.
If I successfully defend against all the cards played by the attacker, I become the next attacker. But if I can’t defend against all the cards, the player to my left becomes the next attacker.
After I finish playing my cards as an attacker, I always have to draw up to 5 cards in my hand, as long as there are cards left in the stock. The same goes for the defender after they finish defending.
If I ever have the 6 of trumps, I can exchange it for the revealed card, as long as there are still cards in the stock and the revealed card has been drawn.
What happens when there are no more cards in the stock
Once all the cards in stock are gone, you and your opponents won’t be able to draw any more cards during the game. Here’s an extra rule: when you’re attacking, you can’t play more cards than the defender has in their hand.
When you’re down to your last few cards, whether you’re attacking or defending, it’s game over for you. You’re out of the game.
The Game Ends
The game comes to an end when there’s only one player left with cards in their hand. That player is the loser and is responsible for dealing the cards in the next game.
A draw is possible if the last defender uses up all their cards to defend against the attacker’s cards. In this case, there’s no loser, and the previous loser in the game becomes the dealer for the next round.
