Welcome to Liberty Fan Tan, a fresh and exciting twist on the classic card game, Fan Tan. Get ready to have a blast as I guide you through the rules of this liberating game. The goal is simple – you need to get rid of all the cards in your hand. It’s time to unleash your inner gambler!

SETUP

First, let’s assign someone as the dealer. The dealer shuffles the deck and deals the cards to each player, one at a time. Don’t worry if everyone doesn’t get the same number of cards – it all adds to the excitement! Once the dealing is done, we’re ready to dive into the game.

Card Ranking

Before we jump into the gameplay, let’s quickly go over the card rankings. The order goes like this: ace, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, Jack, Queen, and King. The suit of the card doesn’t affect its ranking. Got it? Great!

GAMEPLAY

When the game begins, I’ll be the first to play a card from my hand. Then, the player on my left will have to play a card of the same suit but with a higher rank. If they don’t have a higher ranked card, they’ll have to place a chip in the middle of the playing area.

The next player in line will have to do the same thing, and this pattern will continue until someone runs out of cards to play. Our main goal in the game is to complete an entire suit and then move on to the next one.

GAME OVER

The game will come to an end when a player manages to get rid of all their cards. The unlucky player who still has the most cards left in their hands will be the loser. The ranking of the players will be based on the number of cards they have left.
