Card yacht game rules- how to play card yacht

Welcome to Card Yacht!

Card Yacht is a super fun game where we get to combine cards and rack up points. The goal is simple – score more points than your opponents. And the best way to do that? Make some seriously strong combinations!

Getting Started

Alright, let’s go over how to set up the game! First things first, we need to decide who’s going to be the first dealer and figure out where everyone’s gonna sit. To do this, we’ll have a little drawing contest with the cards. The player who draws the highest card gets to be the dealer for the first round and choose their seat first. And hey, don’t worry if you draw the lowest card – you’ll still get to pick your seat, just last!

Oh, and by the way, the dealer role gets passed around the circle clockwise with each new round. So don’t worry, everyone will get a turn to deal!

Alright, let me break down how the game goes. First, the dealer shuffles the cards and lets the player on their right cut the deck. Then, one by one, the dealer gives five cards to each player, going around the group in a clockwise direction. The remaining cards are placed in the middle of the table as the stock pile. And just like that, we’re ready to start the game!

LET’S PLAY

It’s your turn when you’re sitting to the left of the dealer. During your turn, you have a few options. One of them is to Knock. If you choose to Knock, it means you have a scoring combination in your hand. But there’s a catch – once you Knock, everyone else gets one more turn, and you can’t trade any cards during your turn if you want to Knock.

When I play this game, I have a couple of options if I don’t want to Knock. The first option is to draw cards from the stock pile or exchange cards from my hand. If I choose to draw, I can place up to five cards face up in front of me. These cards make up my Harbor. After drawing, I have to discard the same number of cards that I placed in my Harbor, and then my turn is over.

If I want to exchange cards instead, I have to discard the cards in my Harbor. Then, I can take the same number of cards from any one opponent’s Harbor. It’s important to remember that I can’t take my own cards back, and I can only take cards from one opponent per turn.

The game is played over twelve rounds, and in each round, the goal is to complete as many scoring combinations as possible. However, I can’t score in the same category more than once in a single round.

After playing twelve rounds, we tally up our scores to see who comes out on top. The player with the most points is declared the winner.

How Scoring Works

Five Flush – This combination is worth 100 points and occurs when you have 5 cards in a row with the same suit.

Sequence – You can earn 50 points if you have 5 cards in a row, regardless of their suit.

Card Yacht – When you have 4 cards of the same rank, you get 75 points for this combination.

Three and Two – This combination is worth 25 points and consists of 3 cards of the same rank and 2 cards of the same rank.

High – If the sum of your 5 cards is 50, you earn 25 points for this combination.

Middle – A sum of 25 from your 5 cards will give you 50 points for this combination.

Low – If the sum of your 5 cards is 10 or less, you get 50 points for this combination.

Flush – Having 5 cards of the same suit will earn you 25 points for this combination.

Spades, Hearts, Diamonds – The points you earn for these combinations are equal to the sum of all the cards in your hand that belong to the corresponding suit.

Let me tell you about Clubs – a card game that is simple yet fun! In Clubs, the points you earn are based on the sum of all the clubs you have in your hand. So, the more clubs you have, the more points you get.

END OF GAME

After playing twelve rounds, the game comes to an end. And guess what? The player with the most points wins! Yup, it’s as simple as that. So, it’s time to gather your clubs, strategize, and aim for that victory. Good luck!
