Let’s Learn the Rules of the On Tour Game!
Hi there! Are you ready to learn all about the exciting game called On Tour? Well, you’ve come to the right place! In this guide, I’ll walk you through the rules step by step.
Setting Up the Game
To get started, you’ll need the game board, a map of the United States, and a set of number tiles.
Place the game board on a flat surface, and lay the map of the United States on top of it. Make sure it lines up perfectly!
Next, take the number tiles and shuffle them. Then, place one tile face down next to each state on the map. Keep the remaining tiles in a pile nearby.
Playing the Game
Alright, now it’s time to play! The goal of On Tour is to create the longest route possible across the United States.
On your turn, flip over the top number tile from the pile. This number represents the first digit of a three-digit number.
Now, it’s your job to find a state where the second and third digits of the number can form the two-letter postal abbreviation for that state.
For example, if the flipped number is 4, you could choose the state of California, which has the abbreviation CA. The second digit of the number is 0, and the third digit is 4.
Continue taking turns with the other players, flipping over number tiles and selecting states until all the states are filled or no one can find a valid state anymore.
Scoring Points
After all the states have been filled or the game ends, it’s time to score some points!
Score 1 point for each state you marked on your personal map.
Score more points if you managed to create a continuous route across the United States! For each consecutive state you visited, you’ll earn the number of points equal to the number of states in a row.
To make it more challenging, you can also try to create a loop! If you start and end your route in the same state, and you’ve visited at least two other states, you’ll earn a bonus of 7 points.
Winning the Game
The player with the highest total score wins the game!
Now that you know the rules, it’s time to gather your friends, set up the game, and go on tour across the United States!
Wow, can you believe it? You’re living the dream! I’m so excited for you! Can you feel the adrenaline pumping through your veins? You’re about to embark on a 100-day tour with your band, and it’s up to you to plan the perfect schedule. I know it sounds like a daunting task, but don’t worry, I’m here to help!

The Exciting Game Elements
Now, let’s dive into the cool game elements that make this experience so special. Trust me, you’re gonna love it!
Regions #image.jpg
Hey there! Let’s talk about your map. It’s pretty interesting how it’s divided into different regions. We have the North & South and the East, Central, & West regions.
Now, here’s where it gets even more fascinating – these 5 regions combine to create 6 individual areas. We’ve got the Northwest, the North-Central, the Northeast, the Southwest, the South-Central, and the Southeast.
So, each state is located at the intersection of two regions. For example, take New Mexico – it falls into the South & West regions. Cool, right?
Now, let’s check out some cards! #image.jpg
These cards give you information about a specific region and state. It’s a handy way to learn more about different areas while having some fun.
Getting Started
#image.jpg
- First, you need to give every player their own special player board, along with a dry erase marker.
- Make sure to shuffle the cards and place them in the center of the table.
- For the initial setup, roll the dice. Remember, if you roll doubles, you’ll have to roll again.
- Combine the numbers on both dice to form two separate two-digit numbers. For example, if you roll a 1 and a 4, you can make 14 and 41. Choose one player to draw a card and have all players write the lower dice combination on the corresponding state.
- #image.jpgThen, draw another card and all players should write the higher dice combination on that state.
- Each player should circle both numbers they have written down.
- Repeat steps 3 to 7 for each new round.
- Finally, make sure to remove the four used cards from the game.
Alright, let’s get this party started! It’s time for the player with the sickest music taste to kick things off by giving the dice a roll.
The Action Begins
Unveiling the Cards #image.jpg
Every time it’s my turn, I get to draw 3 cards and show them to everyone. If we run out of cards, we’ll mix them up and start over.
Roll the Dice #image.jpg
Here’s how you play this game: I’ll roll both dice for you. After rolling, you’ll combine the numbers on the dice to create two different two-digit numbers. For example, if you roll a 5 and a 6, you can write down 56 and 65. Make sure to write these numbers in two empty spaces on your board.
Where to Write the Number #image.jpg
Hey there! Let’s talk about how to write numbers in this awesome game. It’s really easy, I promise. When it’s your turn to write a number, you get to choose two cards out of three. These cards have different regions like North, Central, and so on. You just have to write your number in one of those regions. But here’s the cool part – if you write the number in the same region that’s displayed on the card, you get to circle it!
Just remember, each number you write needs to go on a different card. Keep it fair and fun!
Now, let’s dive into some Star Powers #image.jpg
When all three cards show the same region or we roll doubles, we can each add a star to any empty state on our boards instead of writing down numbers. Of course, the state we choose must be in the same region as the card shows. If we’re really lucky and use an exact state from one of the cards, we can even circle the star.
Alright, let’s talk about what happens next! Take a look at the image below to see the rules for the next turn.
Once all of us have written our own pair of numbers, we can get rid of the cards that have been revealed and pass the dice to the person sitting next to us, going in a clockwise direction.
Final Round #image.jpg
If you find yourself with only one or two empty states left, don’t worry! Instead of flipping cards, let’s spice things up and roll some dice. Feel free to write numbers in any of the remaining states, just like you would normally do.
When It’s Game Over
So, here’s the deal. The game ends when all states are filled up. And let me tell you, it’s not as easy as it sounds. You gotta start from any state and draw a route, going through all the states without lifting your pen. Yep, it’s gotta be one continuous line.
I’m here to help you understand how a line must continue in a game. It needs to go to a state that has a number equal to or greater than the state you started in. And guess what? Stars are quite special in this game – they’re wild! That means they can stand in for any number you need them to. Pretty handy, right?
#image.jpg
Once you’ve reached a certain point in life, you can’t go back to how things used to be. It’s like reaching a destination and realizing you can never return to where you started. Similarly, when it comes to numbers, you can never go to a smaller number once you’ve reached a larger one.

When you play this game, you can earn one point for each state you visit. And if you circle a star or number on your route, you get an extra point. The person with the highest score wins!
