Bouchon game rules – how to play bouchon

BOUCHON

Welcome to Bouchon, a super fun card game that can be played with 3 to 12 players. The main objective of the game is to stay in the game until the very end and be the last player standing.

HOW TO PLAY

To start the game, place the corks in the middle of the table so that everyone can easily reach them. Once that’s done, the dealer (who also gets to play) will deal four cards to each player. Now, here’s where the real fun begins!

Each player must pass one card from their hand to the player on their left. This part is done simultaneously, so everyone places one unwanted card face-down on the table and slides it over to the next player. After that, players pick up the card that has been passed to them from the right and add it to their hand. Once everyone has done this, the process is repeated.

The ultimate goal of the game is to create a hand with four cards that have the same rank. In other words, you want to have four cards of the same number or four cards of the same face value (like having four Kings or four Aces).

BE THE WINNER

The game continues until there is only one player left with a hand that has a four of a kind. So, the last player standing wins the game and is crowned the Bouchon champion!

Hey there! So, here’s the deal: when one of us players gets a four of a kind, we gotta keep it hush-hush and move lightning-fast to snatch a cork from the middle. Everyone else has to do the same, no matter what cards they have in their hands. The poor soul who’s left without a cork gets a penalty. They gotta spell out the word “Bouchon” one letter at a time, every time they lose. And if they manage to spell the whole word and still lose another round, well, they’re out of the game. Sorry, mate.

Oh, and as the game rolls on, we’ll remove one cork after each elimination until we’re left with two players and one last cork.

Guess what? The ultimate winner is the last player standing!

So, let me introduce myself: I’m Amber, and I go by They/Them pronouns. I’m a writer from Austin who knows a thing or two about games. I’m totally into gaming, and when I’m not playing, you’ll probably find me hanging out with my dogs, tending to my plants, or geeking out over some good ol’ D&D.
