The Taverns of Tiefenthal: A Look at Its Modules

Have you ever wondered what makes The Taverns of Tiefenthal such an engrossing game? Well, let’s take a closer look at the different modules that make up this exciting tabletop adventure.

The Base Game

First and foremost, we have the base game. This is where the adventure begins. In the base game, you are tasked with managing your own tavern and attracting thirsty patrons who are looking for a good time. As the owner of the tavern, you must carefully plan your strategy and make the right decisions in order to succeed.

One of the key elements of the base game is the deck-building mechanic. You start with a small deck of cards and as the game progresses, you have the opportunity to add new cards to your deck and improve your tavern. This adds a layer of strategy and depth to the gameplay, as you must carefully consider which cards to acquire and how to best utilize them.

The Modules

Now, let’s dive into the different modules that you can add to the base game to enhance your experience:

The Staff Module

The Staff module introduces a group of unique characters to your tavern. Each staff member has their own special ability that can help you attract more customers or improve your tavern in other ways. From skilled bartenders to talented musicians, the staff members bring a new level of interaction and strategy to the game.

The Guest Module

The Guest module adds new types of patrons to your tavern. These guests have specific preferences and demands, and it’s up to you to cater to their needs. By satisfying their desires, you can earn valuable rewards and improve your tavern’s reputation. This module adds an extra layer of challenge and variety to the gameplay, as you must adapt your strategies to accommodate the different guest types.

The Events Module

The Events module introduces various events that can occur during the game. These events range from cheerful festivals to unexpected challenges, and they can greatly impact your tavern and gameplay. Some events may provide valuable opportunities to earn extra income or attract more customers, while others may present obstacles that you must overcome. The Events module keeps you on your toes and adds an element of surprise to the game.

Conclusion

By combining the base game with the different modules, you can create a truly unique and immersive experience in The Taverns of Tiefenthal. Whether you’re strategizing with your staff, catering to demanding guests, or dealing with unexpected events, each module brings its own set of challenges and rewards. So gather your friends, choose your modules, and embark on a thrilling adventure in the world of Tiefenthal!

If you’ve already played with just Module 1 or want more of a challenge, you can make the game more exciting by adding these 4 Modules.

It’s important to note that each Module builds on the previous ones. So if you want to play with Module 4, you’ll need to have Modules 1, 2, and 3 as well!

Now, let’s dive into Module 2 – “Schnapps – That was his Last Word..”.

Doubloons and beer are nothing compared to the power of strong liquor! Not only does it make the world go ’round, but it also comes with special bonuses!

Here are the components you’ll need for Module 2:

– 20 Schnapps Tokens

– 12 Double-Sided Entertainer Tiles (featuring 3 different entertainers, with 4 tiles for each entertainer)

– 3 Schnapps Tiles (to be used with the Monastery Board)

To set up the game, follow these steps.

So, here’s what you gotta do: Get the Monastery Board and flip it over to the wintery side – you know, the one with snow. Now, take the Schnapps Tiles and put them in those three little spots on the Monastery Board. Make sure the schnapps is showing, ya hear?

The Modules of The Taverns of Tiefenthal UltraFoodMess

Hey there, let’s talk about Schnapps Tiles! These special tiles add an exciting twist to the game. You’ll find two Schnapps Tiles placed between Rounds 2 and 3, as well as between Rounds 5 and 6. These tiles are pretty important because they show 2 Schnapps each.

Now, there’s also a single Schnapps Tile that’s placed between Rounds 4 and 5. This one is special because it shows just one Schnapps.

So, once you’ve set up the rest of the game following the instructions for Module 1, you’ll be all set to have a blast with your Schnapps Tiles!

The Modules of The Taverns of Tiefenthal UltraFoodMess

First things first, you’ll want to grab those 20 Schnapps Tokens and put them next to the Monastery Board. Then, each player should take a set of 3 different Entertainer Tiles and place them next to the board too. Any leftover tiles can go back in the box.

What’s Different?

Tracking the Rounds

If you look at the winter side of the Monastery Board, you’ll notice some new bonuses on the Round Track:

Schnapps: When the Round Marker (Moon) goes over a Schnapps symbol, you get 1 (in Rounds 2, 5, and 8) or 2 (in Rounds 3 and 6) Schnapps Tokens from the general supply, right away.

Put these on the Tavern Board on top of the Counter.

When Round 2, 3, and 5 roll around, lively entertainers will drop by your Tavern to amuse your guests. You and your fellow players each grab one of the Entertainer Tiles pictured and select one of the two sides.

Time to set the chosen tile face-up in your Tavern. Just a heads up, it doesn’t give you an instant action. You have to activate it later using Schnapps Tokens.

Keep in mind: Once you place an Entertainer Tile in your tavern, you can’t flip it to the other side. So make sure to choose wisely!

Taking a Schnapps Action

If you have enough Schnapps, you can give some to the Entertainers. In return, they thank you by granting a bonus action.

To give Schnapps, return the specified number of Schnapps Tokens to the general supply, as indicated on the Entertainer Tile. After that, you can perform the action depicted on the Tile.

With the exception of one side of the Juggler Tile, you can perform any action as many times as you want, as long as you have enough Schnapps Tokens to pay for each action.

Schnapps Actions:

  • The Modules of The Taverns of Tiefenthal UltraFoodMess

During the action phase F, you can return 1 Schnapps Token to the general supply and receive 2 Doubloons.

  • The Modules of The Taverns of Tiefenthal UltraFoodMessWhen it’s time to take action in the game, you give back 2 Schnapps Tokens and, in return, you get 3 Beers.
  • The Modules of The Taverns of Tiefenthal UltraFoodMessDuring the action phase, if you return 5 Schnapps Tokens, you can upgrade 1 area of your Tavern without paying anything extra. Plus, you still get a Noble card when you upgrade this way!
  • The Modules of The Taverns of Tiefenthal UltraFoodMessIn the action phase, exchange 2 Schnapps Tokens for a special ability: remove a “Regular” or other Guest card from your Tables. You can only remove a Guest if there is no Die on it.
  • During the “Closing Time!” phase, I’ll hand back 1 Schnapps Token to the general supply. Before I put my played cards in my discard stack, I can secretly pick 1 of them and place it on top of my draw deck. I can only do this once per round.

In the action planning phase, I’ll return 1 Schnapps Token to the general supply and I can change the result of 1 of my dice before I place it on an action space.

But wait, there’s a catch! I can’t end my turn with more than 4 Schnapps Tokens. Any extra tokens I have must go back to the general supply.

When the game is over, each Schnapps Token I have left is worth 1 Victory Point. So the more tokens, the better!

There you have it! These are the special rules for the Taverns of Tiefenthal game that involve Schnapps Tokens. I hope you enjoy playing with these extra options!

Module 3 – “Your Reputation Precedes You..”

A good reputation is the foundation of any successful Tavern. When a Tavern is managed wisely and with balance, it paves the way for success!

    What’s Included in Module 3

    • 4 Reputation Markers
    • 16 Bard Cards
    • 10 New Guest Cards with the grig symbol
    • The back side of the Host tile featuring the Reputation Track

    Getting Started

The Modules of The Taverns of Tiefenthal UltraFoodMess

Let’s get started by mixing the 10 Guest Cards with a White Die symbol at the top into the stack of Guest Cards from Module 1. After that, we need to lay out the Monastery Board with the winter side, featuring snow, facing upwards.

Next, we should place the Schnapps Tiles in the 3 recesses in the Monastery Board, making sure that the schnapps are not visible. Then, we can place the 16 Bard Cards face up in a stack right next to the Beer Merchants in the open display.

The Modules of The Taverns of Tiefenthal UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Let’s talk about an important step in running your very own tavern – flipping the Host tile of your Tavern Board!

Now, you might be wondering what the Tavern Board is all about. Well, it’s like the heart and soul of your tavern. The Host tile is a special piece that you need to flip over to get things going.

But why is flipping the tile so important? Well, it’s because when you flip it, you reveal the Reputation Track. This track is a way to keep track of how well your tavern is doing. It shows you how your customers and the town’s folk view your tavern. Are they happy with what you’re offering, or is there room for improvement?

Flipping the Host tile is like opening a door to a whole new world of possibilities. It’s the start of a journey where you can make your tavern the best in town. By keeping an eye on the Reputation Track, you can see if you’re heading in the right direction or if there are areas that need improvement.

So, when you’re setting up your tavern, make sure to flip that Host tile over. It’s a small action, but it has a big impact. Get ready to amaze your customers and watch your tavern flourish!

The Modules of The Taverns of Tiefenthal UltraFoodMess

Hey there! Let me walk you through an important detail in the game. You know that small cutout at the bottom of the Reputation Track? Well, you’ve got to flip it so that the signature side is face down. Pretty simple, right?

Now, it’s time to get your hands on a Reputation Marker. Each player will have one, and you’ll need to place it on the Host. Make sure it’s snug!

Oh, and if you have any unused Reputation Markers lying around, you can return them to the box. No need to clutter up your game space.

Alright, let’s get into the nitty-gritty of gameplay changes. We’ve got something called the Reputation Track. It’s a track that has either 11 spaces, or 12 spaces if you’re using Module 5. And here’s the deal: whenever your Reputation increases, you need to move your Reputation Marker clockwise on the track. Keep an eye on it!

Once you reach the Crown space on the track, things get a bit interesting. You’ll need to return your Marker back to the “1” Victory Point space and keep going from there. It’s a way to keep the game flowing smoothly. Oh, and when the game ends, you’ll earn Victory Points based on the space your Marker is on. So, make sure you strategize!

When your Reputation marker reaches or passes any of the spaces listed below, you’ll get a bonus right away:

If you like a good challenge, then you’re going to love this! It’s time to put your skills to the test and see how well you can interpret some tricky content.

Today, I want to talk about the importance of understanding key concepts. It may seem like a double-edged sword at first, but trust me, it’s worth the effort.

So, what exactly is a key concept? Well, think of it as a fundamental idea or principle that forms the foundation of a topic or subject. It’s like the building blocks of knowledge, providing a framework for deeper understanding.

When you come across new information, it can be overwhelming at times. That’s where key concepts come into play. They help you make sense of the details by giving you a bigger picture view. You can think of them as guideposts that point you in the right direction.

Interpreting key concepts is a skill that can be honed over time. It’s all about asking the right questions and actively engaging with the material. By doing so, you not only gain a better understanding of the topic but also develop critical thinking skills.

So, how can you effectively interpret key concepts? Here are a few tips to get you started:

    • Break it down: When faced with a complex concept, break it down into smaller, more manageable parts. This will help you grasp the essence of the idea and make it less intimidating.
    • Connect the dots: Look for connections between different key concepts. Often, ideas are interlinked, and by making these connections, you can deepen your understanding of the subject.
    • Ask questions: Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Curiosity is the key to learning, and by seeking clarification, you can enhance your knowledge.
    • Apply it: Find ways to apply the key concepts to real-life situations. This will not only help solidify your understanding but also make the content more relatable.

Remember, interpreting key concepts is an ongoing process. It’s not something you can master overnight. But with practice and perseverance, you can unlock a whole new level of understanding.

So, are you up for the challenge?

By following these tips and putting in the effort, you’ll be well on your way to becoming a master interpreter.

    Good luck!

    Take 1 Schnapps Token.

The Modules of The Taverns of Tiefenthal UltraFoodMess

If you want to make some changes in your Tavern, there is a way to do it. You can either use a Schnapps Token or remove a Guest from your Tavern. Let me explain.

The Modules of The Taverns of Tiefenthal UltraFoodMess

When you play the game, start by taking 1 Noble card and placing it face down on the top of your draw deck.

    The Reputation Phase

Once you have placed all of your Dice in Phase E and before you take your first action in Phase F, there is an extra step you need to complete: The Reputation Phase.

First, let’s count how many Doubloons you will earn from your Dice placement.

    This is the total of:

    • Doubloons you receive through Guest Cards (where you have placed a Die).
    • 1 or 3 Doubloons you receive from the Cashbox (if a Die has been placed there).

Next, let’s calculate how many Beers you will earn. This is the total of:

    • Beers you receive from your Beer Supplier: For each Die you place there, you get 1 Beer (or 2 if you have upgraded), plus 1 Beer for each additional Beer Supplier card you have played.

When it comes to playing the Barrel game, you have the chance to receive 1 or 2 Beers if a Die has been placed there. Additionally, you will get 1 Beer for each Beer Merchant placed next to your Beer Storage. These factors are important because they contribute to your overall Reputation.

To calculate your Doubloons and Beer Production, you need to count only the Action Spaces containing Dice, as well as the Beer Merchants. Remember not to include Doubloons in the Safe or Beer in the Beer Storage, as well as those received via Entertainers, Monastery Track bonuses, or instant Guest bonuses.

Now, you should move your Reputation Marker as many spaces on the Reputation Track as indicated by the lower of these two totals. Keep in mind that the number of Beers and the number of spaces you move on the Reputation Track are connected, so the more Beers you have, the farther you can move on the track.

By following these guidelines, you can strategically plan your moves and maximize your success in the game. Good luck!

Even if you upgrade an area during Phase F, which would result in a higher production of Doubloons or Beer, that extra production doesn’t count because we perform the Reputation Phase before Phase F.

Remember: After finishing the Reputation Phase, the current player immediately moves on to Phase F. The next player only starts their Reputation Phase after the current player finishes Phase F.

Pay attention: If you rearrange your Dice during Phase F, it affects your Reputation Track retroactively. So, make sure to adjust your Reputation Marker accordingly if you change your plans!

The Bards: Entertainers for Your Tavern

When it comes to hosting a lively gathering at your Tavern, hiring the Bards is a sure bet for success. These performers bring an enchanting atmosphere and add a touch of musical delight to your establishment. And the best part? They come at an affordable price of just 1 Doubloon.

Once you’ve hired a Bard, they join your team, hidden from view among the other Tavern Cards, eagerly awaiting their time to shine. When you’re filling your Tavern during Phase B, keep an eye out for these talented individuals. If you happen to draw a Bard, place them alongside your Beer Merchants, on the right side of your Beer Storage. It’s important to give them a prominent spot where they can captivate your guests with their melodic magic.

The Serenade of the Bard: A Melodious Advancement

Each Bard you draw during Phase B carries a special power that can boost your reputation. In Phase F, for every Bard you’ve added to your Tavern, you have the opportunity to advance your Reputation Marker by one space on the Reputation Track. It’s a clever way to leave a lasting impression on your guests and earn their admiration.

The Modules of The Taverns of Tiefenthal UltraFoodMess

    Welcome, New Guests!

Hey there! If you happen to come across a Guest Card that displays a fabulous Reputation Marker symbol, you’ll totally leap ahead on the Reputation Track, like a ninja on a mission. Yep, that’s right – your Reputation Marker will move forward a certain number of spaces, according to the card.

The Modules of The Taverns of Tiefenthal UltraFoodMess

If you get a Guest Card with a Schnapps symbol, you get 1 Schnapps Token right away.

If you use one of these special Guests, you won’t get the bonus again if you place the Guest at one of your Tables later on.

    End of the Game

In addition to the Victory Points you already have from the previous Modules, you also get Victory Points based on your Reputation at the end of the game.

These Victory Points depend on where your Reputation Marker is on the Reputation Track.

You get the number of Victory Points shown on the space your Marker is on, or the highest-numbered space you have passed if your Marker is on one of the Schnapps spaces.

If your Marker is on the Crown space, you won’t get any extra Victory Points (because you already earn 10 Victory Points just by taking the Noble Card).

Module 4 – “Every Beginning is Difficult.”

Opening a simple tavern is easy. All you need is a waitress, a beer supplier, and a table. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t better ways to run a successful business!

    Components: Module 4

    • 7 Start Cards

    Setup

There is only one change to the game setup in this module. Instead of automatically adding 1 waitress, 1 table, and 1 beer supplier to each player’s starting deck, players now use a Start Card.

To set up the game, shuffle the 7 Start Cards and randomly reveal 3 of them. Each player selects 1 of the revealed cards and takes the starting items shown on it. Multiple players may choose the same Start Card.

Here’s how you can play with the modules in the taverns of Tiefenthal:

      1. Get a waitress, a table, and a beer supplier (just like in Module 1).

      2. Add a bard, a beer merchant, a beer supplier, and another waitress.

      3. Move your monastery marker ahead by 3 spaces on the Monastery Track. This will give you another beer merchant. However, you need to remove 2 “Regulars” from your draw deck.

      4. Grab a schnapps and upgrade the table area of your tavern for free. No noble card for this upgrade, though.

Now you’re ready to play with these new features!

When you begin the game, there are two modules available for you to choose from: the Bard and the Table. Each one offers its own unique benefits to enhance your Tavern experience. Let me explain what each module does, and how it can help you in your quest to run the best Tavern in town.

First up is the Bard module. With this module, you’ll get to add a Bard to your Tavern right from the start. This will allow you to immediately upgrade your Beer Storage area for free. It’s like a special bonus just for choosing the Bard! Oh, and don’t forget to set your Beer Storage Marker to 5. That means you’ll begin the game with 5 Beers already in stock. Cheers to that!

Now let’s move on to the Table module. With this module, you’ll gain a Waitress card right off the bat. And that’s not all! You’ll also get to hire a permanent Waitress for free by flipping over the Dog tile to the other side. Talk about a great deal! Just like with the Bard module, you won’t receive a Noble Card for this upgrade, but trust me, the benefits of having a Waitress are well worth it.

So, there you have it! You have the option to choose either the Bard or the Table module to kickstart your Tavern adventure. Both modules offer unique advantages that will help you along the way. It’s up to you to decide which one suits your strategy best. Good luck, and may your Tavern prosper with the help of these fantastic modules!

When playing the game, “The Taverns of Tiefenthal,” there is a module called Module 4 – “The Dishwasher.” Take 1 Dishwasher card, removing 1 “Regular” card from your draw deck as well. The removed card should be placed back in the box. Additionally, you get to upgrade the Cashbox area of your Tavern for free, without receiving a Noble Card for the upgrade.

Don’t forget to shuffle your draw deck before starting the first Round! The rules for Modules 1, 2, and 3 remain the same as usual.

Now, let’s move on to Module 5 – “The later the hour, the nicer the guests.” In this module, your reputation is crucial. Can you impress the indecisive Nobles by presenting them with a guest book full of satisfied customer signatures? It’s time to prove your worth!

Here are the components you’ll need for Module 5:

      – 4 Guest Books

      – 40 Signature Tiles

To set up the game, follow these steps:

      1. Each player receives a Guest Book.

      2. Place the Signature Tiles within reach of all players.

      3. Follow the regular setup rules for the rest of the game.

Now, you’re ready to dive into the world of “The Taverns of Tiefenthal” with Module 5. Show off your skills and leave a lasting impression on your guests! Good luck!

The Modules of The Taverns of Tiefenthal UltraFoodMess

To set up the game for this module, follow the instructions for Modules 1-4. However, this time, turn over the small cutout at the bottom of the Reputation Track so that the signature side is facing up.

Each player will receive a Guest Book and place it above their Tavern Board. Any unused Guest Books should be returned to the box.

Place the Signature Tiles in a general supply next to the display of Guest Cards. Put one Signature Tile on each of the four face-up Guest Cards in the open display, and one on the top card in the “3 Beer” stack.

      Changes in How to Play

      The Guest Book

Your Guest Book has four columns that you fill from top to bottom with Signature Tiles. There are two ways to fill your Guest Book:

Whenever you invite someone over for a drink, get their Signature Tile from the Guest Card and add it to your Guest Book. The Guest writes their name in the book. Then, place the tile in the corresponding column based on the value of the recruited Guest. The values include 3/4 Beer, 5 Beer, 6 Beer, or 7/8 Beer.

When you replenish the row of face-up Guests, take a Signature Tile from the supply and put it on the newly drawn Guest Card. If you hire a “3 Beer” Guest, place another Signature Tile on top of the next “3 Beer” Guest on the stack.

If your Reputation Marker gets to or past the Signature symbol on the Reputation Track, take a Signature Tile from the supply and put it in any column of your Guest Book. Remember to fill the columns from top to bottom.

When you put a Signature Tile on a space with a bonus, you get that bonus right away. But if you try to put a Signature Tile in a column that already has Tiles, you can’t do it and you don’t get anything.

Here are the bonuses you get as soon as you put a Signature Tile on the corresponding space:

        – Take 1 Beer and put it face down on the top of your draw deck.

        – Take 1 Dishwasher and put it face down on the top of your draw deck.

        – Take 1 Waitress and put it face down on the top of your draw deck.

When playing the game, follow these steps:

        1. Take 1 Table and put it face down on the top of your draw deck.

        2. Move your Reputation marker forward 1 or 3 spaces.

        3. Take 1 Noble and put it face down on the top of your draw deck.

        4. Take 1 Schnapps Token from the general supply.

If you place a Signature Tile in the last empty space in a horizontal row of your Guest Book, you will receive 1 Noble immediately and put it face down on top of your draw deck.

Enjoy the game and have fun!

Did you know that there’s a limit to the number of Signature Tiles available? It’s true! If you happen to invite a Guest who doesn’t have a Signature Tile, you won’t be able to record their signature in your Guest Book.

And here’s another thing to keep in mind: when playing with Module 5, you can only recruit one new Guest per Round.

Everything else from Modules 1-4 stays the same, as per usual.
