The Jungle Tiles in Cacao
When I first heard about the jungle tiles in Cacao, I was intrigued. The idea of exploring ancient ruins and uncovering hidden treasures sounded like an adventure I couldn’t resist. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The jungle tiles added a whole new level of excitement and strategy to the game.
So, what exactly are these jungle tiles? Well, they are special tiles that are placed on the board at the beginning of the game. Each tile has a unique symbol and a corresponding action. When a player places their worker on a jungle tile, they can choose to take the action associated with that tile.
These actions can range from gaining resources to exploring new areas of the jungle. For example, one tile might allow you to gather more cacao beans, while another might let you build a village. The possibilities are endless, and each action can have a major impact on your overall strategy.
I must admit, the jungle tiles can be a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand, they can provide you with powerful abilities and help you gain an advantage over your opponents. On the other hand, they can also be a source of frustration if you don’t plan your moves carefully.
One of the key strategies in Cacao is understanding how to effectively use the jungle tiles to your advantage. It’s not enough to simply place your worker on any tile – you need to carefully consider which action will benefit you the most. By doing so, you can elevate your gameplay and outsmart your opponents.
Additionally, the jungle tiles add an element of unpredictability to the game. Since the tiles are placed randomly at the beginning of each game, you never know what actions will be available to you. This keeps the game fresh and exciting, as you constantly have to adapt your strategies based on the jungle tiles that are in play.
In conclusion, the jungle tiles in Cacao are a game-changer. They bring a sense of adventure and discovery to the game, while also adding depth and complexity to the gameplay. If you’re looking for a game that combines strategy and excitement, then you’ll love Cacao and its jungle tiles.
When you have workers positioned on the edge of a tile, they can help you collect cacao fruit. Each worker you have activated on an adjacent edge allows you to take 1 or 2 cacao fruits from the supply.
Once you have the cacao fruits, you can place them on your village board. Each player has 5 storage spaces available to them. Remember, you can never have more than 5 cacao fruits in storage. If you acquire any additional fruits beyond that, they will go to waste.

If you have workers on the edges next to the tile, you can sell cacao fruits from your storage for gold. Each worker allows you to sell one fruit, and you can choose to sell for 2, 3, or 4 gold.

When you have workers activated on the edge of the tile next to you, you have the opportunity to collect either 1 or 2 pieces of gold from the bank.
The Power of Water

Hey there! I want to tell you about an exciting game mechanic in our board game called “Sun-worshiping Site.” Are you ready? Let’s dive in!
So, in this game, you have some workers. And guess what? You can activate them! When you activate your workers, those who are on the adjacent edge of the tile, something cool happens. You get to move the water carrier on your village board. But wait, there’s more! You can move the water carrier one water field ahead in a clockwise direction.
Now, here’s the catch. If the water carrier reaches the water field with the value “16,” he stops right there. No more steps for him. It’s like hitting a wall or something.
Alright, let’s talk about scoring. At the end of the game, you can add the value of the water field on which your water carrier is standing to your gold coins. Cool, right? But hold on, there’s a twist. If your water carrier is standing on a field with a negative value, you have to deduct that number from your gold coins.
And here’s something special – the Sun-worshiping Site!

When one of my workers is activated on the edge of a tile, I can take a sun token from the supply. I then place that token on an empty sun-worshiping spot on my village board.
Each player has three sun-worshiping spots and can never have more than three sun tokens. Any additional tokens I acquire are wasted.
As the game nears its end, I can use sun tokens to “overbuild” one of my own worker tiles. At the end of the game, any unused sun tokens will earn me one gold each from the bank.
The Temple

During the game, the temples don’t have any immediate impact. They only come into play at the end, where they are scored individually, one after the other. If you have the most workers next to a particular temple, you’ll receive 6 gold from the bank. If you’re in second place, you’ll get 3 gold.
If there’s a tie for first place, the 6 gold will be divided equally among the players involved, rounded down if necessary. In this situation, no gold is given for second place.
However, if there’s a clear winner for first place but a tie for second place, the 3 gold will be divided equally among the players involved, rounded down if necessary.
Hey there! Let me break down the rules for you. If any worker tiles are right next to the temple, we only count the worker tile on top for scoring. If there’s only one player with workers next to the temple, they’ll get 6 gold from the bank, as always. No gold is given for second place. In order to score for the temple, you need to have at least one worker right next to it.
Let’s talk about the Mini-expansion Volcanoes.

Hey there! Let’s switch things up a bit. Instead of the usual gold mines, we’re going to use three volcano tiles. Don’t worry, we’ll put the gold mines away for now.
Now, if we’re playing with just two players, we’ll swap out one of those gold mines with a volcano tile that has a value of 1. And remember, that volcano tile goes back in the box.
Okay, so here’s what you need to do in the game. For each of your activated workers, you’ll have to take some actions based on the value indicated on the edge of the tile next to them.
If the value tells you to, you can grab 2 gold coins from the bank. Nice! But if the value tells you to, you’ll have to pay 1 gold coin back to the bank instead. It’s like a trade-off, you know?
Just remember, if you don’t have any gold coins at the moment, don’t worry about paying anything. You’re off the hook!
