Imagine this: you’re at a party, and there are these special cards called search cards. Some of these cards are party items. And what are party items? Well, they’re items that any mouse at the party can use! So, when a mouse gets a party item, you just put the card by the story control board and any little token or marker that goes with it can be put in the party stash area of the story control board. It’s like a special place to keep all the party stuff!

Unmasking the Rat’s Deception

Hey there! Did you know that we have a clever trick up our sleeves to fool those pesky rats? It’s called disguises, and it’s like wearing old rat clothes to hide our true identity. Here’s how it works: when we come across an encounter card, we can get rid of our disguises token from our group stash, and voila! All the rat warriors are fooled, and we can ignore them during that encounter. Cool, right? But don’t forget, any other minions from that encounter still need to be dealt with.

Now, here’s one thing to keep in mind – if our disguises token gets discarded, we have to go searching for it again. It gets shuffled back into the search deck. Oh, and there’s no escaping a surge effect with disguises. We can’t use them to dodge that! Sneaky rats.

Reaching the Unreachable with Fishhook & Thread

Picture this: there’s an area on the board that seems impossible to reach or is just really tricky to get to. Well, fear not! We have a nifty little tool called fishhook & thread that will save the day. Here’s how it works: whenever it’s a mouse’s turn, the player controlling that mouse can take the fishhook & thread token from our group stash and put it on the board. And the best part? It doesn’t even cost us an action to do it! How cool is that?

When I use the Fishhook & Thread token, I have to keep in mind that one end needs to be on the same space as my mouse. The other end has to be placed within a different space on the same tile. It’s important to note that at least one end of the token must be on a non-water space.

After I place the token, I can move between the spaces on either end using my normal movement, just like I would with adjacent spaces.

If I want to remove the token, I can do so by using an action while on the same space as one of the ends. I’ll place the token back in the party stash. If my mice friends and I leave a room tile that still has the token on it, we need to remove the token from the board. Don’t forget to shuffle the Fishhook & Thread card back into the search deck.

Now, let’s talk about the Dinner Fork.

Hey there! Did you know that the dinner fork is not just for eating? It’s actually a pretty handy tool in the game of mice! Let me tell you all about it.

So, during a mouse’s turn, the player controlling that mouse can take out the Dinner Fork token from the stash and put it on the board. No need to spend an action for that, pretty cool right?

When the Dinner Fork is placed, it goes directly on the space where the mouse is using it. Just keep in mind that it can’t go on a water space.

Now, here’s the fun part! If a mouse happens to be sharing a space with the Dinner Fork, it can use an action to launch any other mouse on that space to any other space on the same tile. The only requirement is that the mouse being catapulted needs to have a clear line of sight to the target space. Talk about a mousey power move!

If you find a token on the same space as your mouse, you can take it and put it in your party stash. But be careful! If you leave a room tile with a token still on it, the token gets taken off the board and put back into the search deck, along with the Dinner Fork card.

Delicious Grape

Did you know that grapes can be used for more than just eating? They actually have many other purposes, such as being used as roach bait or even as a weapon!

Grape As Roach Bait

Here’s a fun fact: if you’re playing a game with mice and roaches, you can use a grape as a special bait. Whenever it’s a mouse’s turn, they have the option to take a grape token from their party stash and place it on any empty space nearby. This grape acts as a delicious lure for the roaches!

During a roach’s turn, they will be irresistibly drawn to the grape and move their full distance towards it. However, if a roach moves onto a space with a mouse, they will stop as usual and not reach the grape.

If one or more roaches end up on the same space as the grape, something interesting happens. Instead of attacking, the roaches will feast on the grape! Both the grape token and any roaches on it will be removed from the game. Don’t worry, though, you can always shuffle the grape card back into the deck for future use.

Grape As A Weapon

If I see a mouse with a grape near my dinner fork, I can take a special action to throw the grape at the other mice. I don’t even have to see the mouse I’m throwing the grape at. Any other mice on the same spot will also get hit by the grape.

I’ll flip the grape token like flipping a coin. If it lands with the splat side facing up, the mouse I’m throwing it at and any other mice on the same spot will automatically get hit. They’ll have to roll to defend themselves as usual.

When I come across a grape token, the first thing I should do is get rid of it. I’ll do this by shuffling the grape card back into the search deck. But here’s the catch: the token might land with the grape side-up. And if that happens, things can get messy.

What happens is that the figures nearby become knocked down. And to keep track of that, I’ll place the grape token under those knocked down figures. It’s important to note that this grape can actually be used as a weapon by a rat or even as instant roach bait, if you can believe it. But luckily, the big figures are immune to its effects.

Now, if a rat finds itself in the same space as the grape at the start of its turn, it won’t move. Instead of its usual battle action, it will take aim and make a ranged attack at the space with the most mice on it. Talk about targeting the crowd!

But here’s the twist: if there’s more than one space with an equal number of mice, I’ll pick the space where the mouse at the top of the initiative track is standing. And again, the grape can be used as a weapon in this scenario, just like before.

One thing to keep in mind is that a rat can’t use the grape as a weapon if it’s sharing a space with one or more mice. So, they better find a clear shot or find another way to cause some trouble!
