The Game Rules for Werewolves of Miller’s Hollow
Are you intrigued by the world of werewolves and curious to learn more about the game of Miller’s Hollow? Look no further! In this guide, I’ll walk you through the rules of this exciting game that will transport you to a fictional village filled with secrets and deception.
The Basics
The Werewolves of Miller’s Hollow is a strategic role-playing game where players are assigned hidden roles as either werewolves or villagers. The goal is to eliminate the opposing group through discussion and voting.
At the start of the game, each player is secretly assigned a role card, which they keep hidden from others. The game is played over a series of turns.
The Day Phase
During the day phase, players engage in lively discussions to uncover the identity of the werewolves. The villagers try to expose the werewolves among them, while the werewolves must blend in and deflect suspicion. This phase ends when a majority vote results in the execution of a player.
If the player executed is a werewolf, the villagers rejoice, and the game moves to the night phase. However, if an innocent villager is wrongly accused and killed, the werewolves celebrate and continue their hunt.
The Night Phase
During the night phase, the werewolves, acting covertly, choose a victim to eliminate. The chosen player is removed from the game and their identity revealed. The game then returns to the day phase, and the cycle continues.
Special Roles
In addition to the generic roles of werewolves and villagers, there are special roles that add complexity and intrigue to the game.
For example, the Seer has the power to peek at the role of another player, providing valuable information to the villagers. The Witch, on the other hand, has potions that can save or eliminate players.
Victory Conditions
The game continues until one group achieves their victory condition. If all the werewolves are eliminated, the villagers win. But if the number of villagers becomes equal to or fewer than the remaining werewolves, the werewolves prevail and the villagers are left in despair.
It’s crucial to strategize and form alliances, but beware of false information and hidden agendas. Trust is a precious commodity in Miller’s Hollow, and only the most cunning and discerning players will emerge victorious!
So gather your friends, sharpen your wits, and immerse yourself in the thrilling world of werewolves. Are you ready to take on the challenge?

Welcome to the quiet town of Millers Hollow, nestled deep in the American countryside. Lately, something sinister has taken root here – Werewolves.
Under the cover of darkness, the once innocent Townsfolk transform into these ferocious creatures. Nobody knows why, but the greenhouse effect might have something to do with it.
Now, it’s up to us to band together and put an end to this ancient evil before it devours our town entirely.
The Game’s Goal
- For the Townsfolk: Our objective is to kill all the Werewolves, one by one.
- For the Werewolves: Your mission is to hunt down and slaughter every last one of us, the innocent Townsfolk.
What Do You Need?

I wanted to talk to you about this cool card game I found called “Werewolves of Millers Hollow”. Have you heard of it? It’s a really fun game where you get to play as different characters, like werewolves and townsfolk. I’ll give you a quick rundown of the cards in the game:
– First, there are 4 Werewolf cards. These cards represent the werewolves in the game. The werewolves are the bad guys and their goal is to eliminate all the townsfolk without being caught.
– Next, there are 13 Ordinary Townsfolk cards. These cards represent the regular people in the town. They don’t have any special powers, but they can try to figure out who the werewolves are and vote to eliminate them.
– There’s also 1 Fortune Teller card. This card represents a special character who can use their powers to try and discover the identities of the werewolves.
– Another card is the Thief card. This character is a sneaky thief who has their own agenda in the game. They can steal someone else’s card and become that character instead.
– The Hunter card represents a character with a special ability. If the Hunter gets eliminated in the game, they can take someone down with them.
– The Cupido card represents a character that can play matchmaker in the game. They can choose two players to be in love, and if one of them dies, the other one dies too.
– The Witch card represents a character with special healing and poisoning powers. They can either save someone from being eliminated or choose to eliminate someone themselves.
– The Little Girl card represents a character who can secretly spy on the werewolves during the night phase and gather information.
– Finally, there’s the Sheriff card. This card represents the player who leads the town and has the power to make important decisions.
So, those are all the different cards in “Werewolves of Millers Hollow”. It’s a really fun and strategic game that requires you to use your deduction skills and work together as a team to catch the werewolves. I highly recommend giving it a try if you’re into card games!

Every night, when the moon is high in the sky, the Werewolves come out to play. Their hunger for blood is insatiable, and they hunt the innocent Townspeople, sinking their fangs into their flesh. It’s a terrifying sight.
But during the day, the Werewolves hide in plain sight, blending in with the crowd. They try their best to act normal, to hide their true nature and the atrocities they committed under the cover of darkness. It’s a twisted game of deception and survival, and the stakes are high.
In every game of Werewolves, the number of Werewolves varies. It can be one, two, three, or even four. They work together, using their cunning and strength to overpower the Townsfolk. They are a formidable force to be reckoned with.
The Townsfolk

Every night, one of us gets murdered by the Werewolves. We lose that player.
The next day, we gather in the town square and try to figure out who the Werewolves are.
We study each other’s faces, looking for any hidden signs of lycanthropy.
After discussing and debating, we all vote to hang a suspect, who is then publicly executed. They’re out of the game. We have 8 different types of townspeople:
Regular Townspeople

Imagine a small town where ordinary people possess an extraordinary power – intuition. In this town, there are no superheroes or wizards, just regular folks like you and me. You see, each person in this town has a unique ability to read others’ behavior and distinguish the wolves from the innocent.
These ordinary townspeople, known as the Werewolf Game players, must use their instincts and analyze every move to identify who among them is a werewolf. It’s not an easy task, as the werewolves disguise themselves as regular townspeople, camouflaging their true identities.
Meet the Fortune Teller
Among the ordinary townspeople, there is a special role – the Fortune Teller. This individual has the power to peer into the secrets of the night and uncover the true nature of one player each night. The Fortune Teller’s intuition becomes a guiding light for the rest of the town, helping them piece together the puzzle of who the werewolves are.
As a player, you must be cautious in your analysis. You don’t want to falsely mistake an innocent person for a werewolf. The consequences could be dire – mistaken identities can lead to wrongful lynchings, hangings, and burnings.
In a game where a person’s life hangs in the balance, the players must rely on their intuition, observation, and deduction skills to uncover the truth. It’s a challenging task that requires focus, empathy, and the ability to think critically.
So, are you ready to step into this world of mystery and deception? Can you trust your instincts to separate truth from fiction? If you’re up for the challenge, gather your friends and start playing the Werewolf Game. But be warned, once you enter this world, you may never see it the same way again.

Every night, I have the power to see the true nature of a single player.
I get to choose who I will observe. My goal is to assist the other Townsfolk in accurately identifying the Werewolves. However, I must do so without arousing suspicion from the Werewolves, as they will see me as a threat.
The Mighty Hunter

When a hunter is killed by the Werewolves or lynched by the Townsfolk, they have one last trick up their sleeve. As their final act, they retaliate and take out another player by shooting them.
The Matchmaker

Once upon a time in the town of matchmakers, there was someone named Cupido. They earned this nickname because they had a special talent for making any two people fall madly in love with each other. It was like magic!
In the game, Cupido had a very important role. On the first night, Cupido would choose two players who would be deeply in love for the entire game. They could even choose themselves as one of the lovers if they wanted to.
But here’s the twist – if one of the lovers died, the other would be so heartbroken that they would take their own life. It was a tragic and permanent bond that they shared. The love between them was so strong that they couldn’t even pretend to vote against each other.
Now, let’s talk about a special case involving the lovers. If one of them happened to be a werewolf and the other a townsfolk, their goals would change. Instead of harming others, their only wish was to live peacefully together. They had to protect their love by eliminating all the other players, whether they were werewolves or townsfolk. They had to play by the regular rules of the game, but with a different objective in mind.
And that’s the story of Cupido and the power of love. It’s a tale of romance and tragedy, where love can both unite and divide. So, if you’re ever playing this game, remember the important role of Cupido, the matchmaker who can bring people closer than they ever imagined.

Hey there! I’ve got some incredible potions up my sleeve as a Townsperson:
First off, there’s a mighty potion for healing. It’s the ultimate lifeline that can bring a player back from the grasp of a Werewolf’s attack. But here’s the catch, you can only use this potion once per game. Oh, and guess what? I can even use it on myself if I want to!
The second potion is all about poison. It’s a real sneaky one and can only be used during the night. Pick a target and poof, they’ll be eliminated. Just like the healing potion, this one is a once-per-game deal.
Now, here’s something really cool: as the Witch, I can wield both potions. I can poison someone at night and then bring them back to life with the healing potion the next day. Talk about a rollercoaster of emotions, huh? With me around, one night can be full of surprises – nobody dies, one player goes down, or even two players bite the dust!
But wait, there’s more!
Let me introduce you to another fascinating character – the Little Girl.

I’m a really curious little girl. You won’t believe what I can do – I can stay awake at night and keep an eye out for those sneaky Werewolves! How cool is that?
But here’s the catch – if those Werewolves catch me spying on them, I’ll be scared to death! Literally. It’s like they’ve got some sort of spell on them. And you know what? I won’t be the only one to pay the price. The designated victim will be safe, but it’ll be lights out for me.
Now, I can only do my spying during the “Werewolves awaking” phase at night. And here’s a tip for everyone playing – when I’m around, you better not hide your faces while you sleep. Keep those hands and cards away!
By the way, have you heard about the Sheriff? Check this out:

Instead of being dealt like everyone else, someone special gets entrusted with this card. That’s right, it’s you!
Just like a real Sheriff, you get to be elected by the Townsfolk through a voting process. The player with the most votes becomes the Sheriff.
Once you’re elected, you can’t turn down the honor. From that point on, your votes carry extra weight — they count as two votes! However, this power only applies to one player at a time, not split between multiple players. If, unfortunately, the Sheriff gets eliminated, they get to choose a successor on their deathbed. That successor then becomes the new Sheriff.
The Thief

When you play the game with the Thief, we add two more regular Townsfolk cards to the deck at the start of the game.
Once all the cards are shuffled and dealt, we put these two extra cards facedown in the middle of the table.
During the first night’s preliminary turn, the Thief gets to peek at these two cards. They can then choose to swap their own card with one of the extra cards. However, if both cards are Werewolves, the Thief has no choice and must pick one of them. If the Thief takes one of the extra cards, they become that character for the rest of the game.
Choosing the Card Mix
You and your friends can decide on the character card mix that you want to use. But if you’re new to the game, it’s best to start with the basic mix described below:

Did you know that there are creatures called werewolves? They are fascinating and mysterious beasts that have captured the imagination of people for centuries. Werewolves are often depicted as half-human and half-wolf, with the ability to transform from one form to another. It’s as if they straddle two worlds, the human and the animal, which makes them all the more intriguing.
But what exactly makes a werewolf? According to the chart below, it seems that there is some debate about the specifics. Some sources suggest that there are only two types of werewolves, while others claim that there are three. Regardless of the exact number, one thing is clear – werewolves have a unique place in folklore and mythology.
When I think about werewolves, I can’t help but wonder about the science behind them. How is it possible for a person to transform into a wolf? Is it a genetic mutation, a curse, or something else entirely? It’s a question that I find both perplexing and intriguing.
One of the key aspects of werewolves that I find fascinating is the idea of transformation. The ability to change one’s form seems like something out of a fantasy novel, yet it is a central part of werewolf lore. I can’t help but wonder what it would be like to experience such a transformation. Would it be painful? Scary? Exciting? Or perhaps all of the above?
Overall, the meaning of werewolves goes beyond just being creatures of myth and legend. They represent a duality, a merging of humanity and the wild. In a way, they remind us that we are all capable of darkness as well as light. It’s a reminder that we are not just one thing, but a complex mix of emotions, desires, and instincts.
So, the next time you hear a tale about werewolves or come across a movie or book featuring these fascinating creatures, take a moment to ponder the deeper meaning behind the myth. It may just give you a new perspective on our own humanity.

The Fortune Teller
When I stumbled upon the fortune teller, curiosity consumed me. I couldn’t resist the allure of knowing the mysterious future that lay before me. With a mix of apprehension and excitement, I cautiously entered the tent, eager to unlock the secrets of fortune.
The fortune teller’s room was cloaked in an air of enchantment. The space was dimly lit, with hypnotizing melodies softly playing in the background. As I took a seat, the fortune teller gazed into my eyes, her piercing stare piercing through my soul. The intensity of the moment was palpable, and I couldn’t help but feel a surge of anticipation.
The fortune teller began by shuffling a deck of ancient tarot cards. With each flip, she painted a vivid picture of my fate. Every card revealed secrets of my past, present, and future, weaving a tale of triumphs and tribulations. As she interpreted the symbols and patterns, her words cast a spell, tugging at my curiosity and urging me to unravel the enigma of my destiny.
Time ceased to exist in that mystical space, and I found myself entranced by the fortune teller’s words. Her voice danced with a rhythmic cadence, as if the universe itself spoke through her. She shared insights into my strengths and weaknesses, urging me to embrace my true potential. With every prophecy, a surge of hope ignited within me, and I felt empowered to shape my own future.
Leaving the fortune teller’s tent, I carried with me a newfound sense of clarity and purpose. The experience had sparked a flame of determination within me, encouraging me to pursue my dreams fearlessly. Though the future remained uncertain, I knew that I held the power to steer my own destiny.
As I reflect on my encounter with the fortune teller, I realize that the true magic lay not in her predictions, but in the effect they had on me. The fortune teller served as a catalyst, igniting a fire within me to live life boldly and embrace the unknown.
In this journey called life, we often seek guidance and reassurance. Sometimes, it takes the mysterious to awaken the dormant strength within us. While the future remains an enigma waiting to unfold, we can choose to step forward with courage, armed with the knowledge that our paths are ours to create.

Hey there! Let’s talk about the different types of townsfolk you can find in the game. Take a look at the chart below:
Now, when you’re using the basic mix, the Moderator (that’s me!) will follow the Standard Turn rules (1-7) and skip the Setup Round (D-F).
Once you’ve played a couple of times like this, you can start adding other characters to the game. But here’s the important part: the atmosphere. You see, this game is pretty short, so you can play a few rounds back-to-back and switch up the characters each time.
Now, what’s really cool is even if you have fewer players, you can still use specific characters. It adds to the excitement and makes things more intense and surprising!

Getting Started
- First, we need to choose a Moderator. The Moderator is a very important player in the game. They make sure everything runs smoothly and creates a fun atmosphere.
- Once we have a Moderator, they will shuffle the deck of cards and deal one to each player. Look at your card, but keep it a secret from everyone else.
- Now it’s time for the game to begin. The Moderator will say, “Night falls, the town is asleep, and everyone closes their eyes.” If you have a character card, close your eyes.
I wake up as the Moderator says, “The Thief wakes up.” I open my eyes and quietly sneak a peek at the two facedown cards in the middle of the table. Maybe I’ll switch the Thief card with one of them. The Moderator then announces, “The Thief falls asleep.” I close my eyes, pretending to sleep again.
Next, the Moderator calls out Cupido, saying, “Cupido wakes up.” The player with the Cupido card opens their eyes and secretly chooses two players (possibly themselves) to be the lovers. The Moderator moves around the table, lightly tapping the shoulders of the chosen lovers (who must keep their eyes closed). “Cupido falls asleep,” the Moderator declares. I close my eyes again, mimicking sleep.
- Hey there! The game begins with the Moderator waking up the lovers. They don’t reveal their character cards, so they have no idea who their lover really is.
Now that the setup round is complete, it’s time for the standard turn.
Game Turn
Time for the Fortune Teller.
Next up are the Werewolves.
Let’s hear from the Witch now.
Finally, it’s time to wake up the Town.
We argue and debate, us Townsfolk.
- We each try to expose a Werewolf and vote to have them put away.
- The sneaky werewolves work hard to blend in with the regular townsfolk.
- The Fortune Teller and the Little Girl lend a hand to the Townsfolk, secretly of course, risking their lives in the process.
- The lovers do their best to keep one another safe.
We can all pretend to be someone else.
You can lie or tell the truth, as long as you’re convincing. But beware, you’ve got to protect yourself and gather information about the other players.
Believe me, one way or another, you always give yourself away. Everyone has a “tell”.
Everyone in the Town gets to vote.
The whole Town goes to sleep.
The Game ends
I’m sure you’re curious about how to play the game of Werewolves of Miller’s Hollow. Lucky for you, I’m here to explain the rules!
The game starts with everyone in the Town participating in a vote. Each person gets a chance to cast their vote and have their say. This is an important opportunity to make your voice heard and influence the outcome.
Once the Town has made their decision, it’s time for everyone to go to sleep. Yes, you heard that right – the whole Town falls asleep. It might sound strange, but this is an important part of the game.
Now, let’s talk about how the game ends. Once all the voting is done and everyone has gone to sleep, the game comes to a close. It’s that simple.
So, there you have it – a brief rundown of the rules for the Werewolves of Miller’s Hollow. I hope you’re excited to start playing and experience all the twists and turns this captivating game has to offer. Get ready to join in the fun and let the adventure begin!

If the Townsfolk can eliminate all the Werewolves, they win the game. On the other hand, if the Werewolves manage to kill the last Townsperson, they will claim victory. There’s also a special category known as the Lovers. They win if they are the last surviving pair of a Townsperson and a Werewolf, and all other players have been eliminated.
