Getting Started

Who’s the first player? Let’s figure that out. Who’s been whisked away by the CIA or KGB most recently? Or we can just pick randomly if that’s easier.

Now, let’s get the Character cards and mix them up. Place them face down in front of the first player.

We also need to shuffle the four Bullet cards. Put them in the middle of the table, face down. Then, put the UN token, Help sheet, and the two Help tokens in the center of the table as well.

Depending on how many players we have, we’ll need a certain number of Identity tokens. Grab the right amount and put any extras back in the box.

Alright, let’s get this game started! Here’s what you need to do:

First things first, we need to give each player an Identity token. Take the Identity tokens, shuffle them up, and deal one face down to each player. Then, take the last remaining token and place it in the center of the table, also face down.

Now that everyone has their Identity token, it’s time to start building your display. Your display is the area in front of you on the table, where you’ll be placing your cards. But wait, at the beginning of the game, you don’t have any cards in your display yet!

Getting Started

How much information you have at the start of the game depends on the number of players:

• For 4 players: Take a secret peek at your own Identity token.
• For 5 or 6 players: Take a secret peek at your own Identity token and the token of the player to your right.
• 7 or 8 players: I secretly look at my Identity token and the Identity token of the player on my right. Then the center Identity token is revealed to all players, before being flipped back facedown.

During the game, I cannot look at any Identity tokens unless a card effect tells me to.

My Turn

I take turns as the active player, starting with me as the first active player, and proceeding clockwise around the table.

I draw and reveal cards from the Character deck until I reveal two unique characters. If any drawn cards are identical, I keep drawing until two different characters are revealed. I return any duplicates facedown to the bottom of the Character deck.

Note: Right now, you can use the two Help tokens on the Help sheet to keep track of which two characters were shown.

So here’s what happens: I get to take the two Character cards and secretly pick one for “The Offer”. I’ll put the other Character card back in the deck, face down.

But wait, there’s more! I get to offer that facedown Character card to a player of my choice. And get this, I can say whatever I want, even lie and bluff. The player I offer it to has a choice:

• If they say yes, we reveal the Character card and put it face up in their display.
• If they say no, we still reveal the Character card, but this time it goes face up in my display.

When I add a card to my display, I must make sure to use its effect. It’s an important rule that applies to every player.

After I finish my turn, I need to pass the deck to the player on my left. They become the new active player.

At the end of my turn, something interesting happens. If any player has two Character cards that look exactly the same in their display, those cards are flipped facedown. It’s like they disappear and have no value anymore.
