Welcome to the World of Origami!

Have you ever been intrigued by the art of turning plain paper into intricate shapes? If so, you’re in for a treat! I want to share with you the joy of origami and its fascinating game rules. So, grab some paper and let’s dive in!

The Basics

Origami is an ancient Japanese craft that involves folding paper to create various forms. The word “origami” comes from the combination of two Japanese words: “ori” which means folding, and “kami” which means paper.

When playing the origami game, the goal is to transform a flat piece of paper into a three-dimensional object using specific folding techniques. The possibilities are endless – you can make animals, flowers, or even geometric shapes!

Materials You’ll Need

The beauty of origami lies in its simplicity. All you need is a sheet of paper and your creativity! You can use any type of paper – colored, patterned, or even plain white. The size of the paper is also up to you, but it’s best to start with a square sheet, as it allows for more versatile folding possibilities.

Getting Started

Now that you have your paper ready, it’s time to begin! Follow these four simple steps:

  1. Choose a shape or figure you want to create with your origami skills.
  2. Read the instructions carefully, paying close attention to each fold and crease.
  3. Start folding! Take your time and be gentle with the paper to avoid tears.
  4. Marvel at your creation! Take a moment to admire the work of art you’ve just made.

Benefits of Origami

Origami is not just an enjoyable pastime; it also offers numerous benefits beyond the fun factor. Here are some advantages you’ll gain by exploring this ancient art:

  • Enhanced problem-solving skills: Origami challenges your mind to think in a logical and sequential manner, boosting your problem-solving abilities.
  • Improved spatial awareness: As you fold and manipulate the paper, you develop a better understanding of space and how objects relate to each other.
  • Increased focus and concentration: Origami demands your full attention, enhancing your ability to concentrate and stay present in the moment.
  • Stress relief: Engaging in origami can be a calming activity that helps alleviate stress and anxiety.
  • Creative expression: Origami allows you to tap into your artistic side and express your imagination in a unique way.

Let Your Imagination Take Flight

Origami is a remarkable art form that combines creativity, patience, and precision. It’s a journey that anyone can embark on, regardless of age or experience. So, are you ready to unleash your imagination and create beautiful origami masterpieces? The only limit is your creativity!

Getting Ready

In this game, you will need different types of cards: farm cards, skycards, sea cards, savannah cards, and lawn cards. Each type has 18 cards. You will also need a slip of paper to make the Starting Player origami. Don’t forget to read the instructions!

Let’s Set Up

Before we can start playing, we need to set up the game. The number of families you’ll use will depend on the number of players. For example, if there are 3 players, you will use 3 families. You can choose which families to use, but make sure you include all the cards from the chosen families. Any families that you don’t choose will stay in the box and won’t be used.

The Parts of a Card

Let’s mix up the deck, then give each player some cards. We’ll reveal the cards one by one until each player has at least 10 folds worth of cards.

It’s totally fine if some players end up with more folds than others.

When we begin the game, the player who has the fewest folds gets to be the Starting Player. This is an important role because they will hold onto the Starting Player origami for the entire game. If there’s a tie, we’ll break it by drawing lots. Once we have our Starting Player, each player takes the cards they were dealt and keeps them hidden from everyone else.

Now let’s talk about the deck of cards. We’ll keep this deck in the middle of the table. To start the game, we’ll turn over the first four cards and place them face up in a row next to the deck. This row is called the “Draw Line.” And don’t forget, we need to leave some space for a discard pile.

How to Play the Game

Hi there! Today, I want to talk to you about this awesome game that I love playing. It’s called “Game Play,” and it’s really fun! So, let’s dive in and learn how to play.

The game is super easy to understand, and we play it in turns, going around in a circle. The person who starts the game is called the Starting Player, and they get to go first. Exciting, right? Now, when it’s your turn, you have three different actions that you can choose from. Let me tell you about them:

  1. Draw Cards: If you pick this action, you get to take some cards from the Draw Line. But here’s the catch – the total number of folds on the cards you choose should be 4 or less. Once you’ve picked your cards, add them to your hand. Easy peasy!
  2. Play One Origami: This action allows you to play one of your Origami cards. You can choose any card from your hand and put it into play. Simple, right? It’s like bringing your creations to life!
  3. Use The Special Action Of An Origami: Some of the Origami cards have special actions written on them. If you choose this action, you can use one of those special actions. It’s like having a secret power that gives you an advantage in the game. How cool is that?

After you’ve taken your action, your turn comes to an end. But here’s a little rule for you: If you have more than 8 cards in your hand at this point, you have to get rid of the extra cards. You should only have 8 cards in your hand, okay? Once you’ve done that, it’s time for the next player (the person on your left) to take their turn.

So, that’s pretty much how you play the game. It’s all about making decisions and using your cards wisely. I hope you enjoy playing “Game Play” as much as I do. Have a blast!

Once you finish drawing, refill the Draw Line by taking cards from the deck (face up) until there are 4 cards available again. If the deck runs out, shuffle the discards and create a new deck.

For example: From the Draw Line mentioned above, you can choose the Bee or the Parrot and the Raccoon. You also have the option to take fewer than 4 folds, like the Chick and the Parrot. Any folds you don’t take will be lost.

2. Play one Origami

When you select this action, you get to play one Origami from your hand. But before you can play a card, you need to pay its cost, which is measured in “folds”. Each card displays its cost and the number of folds in the corner.

When you play a card, you must discard other cards from your hand with a total number of folds exactly matching the cost of the Origami you wish to play.

Example: When you want to play the Raccoon card, you have to pay a cost of 4. There are a few ways you can do this. One option is to discard the Butterfly card. Another option is to discard both the Owl and the Elephant cards. However, you cannot choose to discard the Pig and the Elephant (or the Pig and the Owl) because that would be paying too much (5 times the cost) and it’s against the rules! Just keep in mind that you have to pay the cost in order to play the Raccoon card.

Collections: When you pay for Origami, put it face up in front of you. You have to add it to your Collections when you play Origami. In front of you, you can only keep two Collections, where every Origami you play must go.

Every Collection is a column of Origami cards, with one Origami placed “on top”. Always place each new Origami on top of the other cards, but a little to the left so you can still see the left corner of the earlier Origami, which displays the Name, Family, and Points Value.

Make sure the difference between the sizes of your two Collections is never more than ONE Origami. Your Collections should have equal numbers of cards or differ in just one.

So here’s how it works: when you play an Origami, you’ll cover up one of the previous ones, except for the first two you play. But here’s the catch: if you cover an Origami that has a Special Action, you won’t be able to use that action anymore.

Let me give you an example to make it clearer. So, when you play the Raccoon, it goes to your left Collection to keep things balanced. You can’t add it to your right Collection because then the difference between your Collections would be 2 Origami. And unfortunately, that means you’ll have to say goodbye to the Shark’s Special Action.

Origami Effects: When you play an Origami, it has an effect. There are three types of effects:

  • Instant Effect: You can use the effect right away when you play the card. After that, the effect is over. You don’t have to use Instant Effects if you don’t want to.
  • Scoring: This Origami only has an effect at the end of the game, during the final scoring.
  • Special Action: This Origami gives you a Special Action that you can use on your turn. You can start using this Special Ability from your next turn onwards (see section 3 for how to use the Special Action of an Origami). You can use this Special Ability as many times as you want, but only once per turn, as long as the Origami is still on top of its Collection.

Note: Every Origami has its own unique effect, which is described on the card. At first, it might seem like there’s a lot to learn, but don’t worry! The more you play, the easier the game will become!

Step 3: Use an Origami’s Special Action

When you take this action, you can choose to use the Special Action shown on one of the Origami cards at the top of your Collection. Just keep in mind that you can’t use a Special Action if it’s already covered by another Origami you added to your Collection later on.

All you have to do is perform the Special Action you’ve chosen. But remember, you can only choose an Origami that has a Special Action effect. If you don’t have any Special Actions available, this option won’t be open to you!

For example: Let’s say you have a Raccoon on top of your left Collection, and it has the Special Action “Draw up to 3 folds from the draw line and the top discard pile”.

Hey there! When it’s my turn to play Origami, instead of choosing to draw cards or play one piece of Origami, I have the option to do something special. How cool is that?

Let’s talk about Cards

Farm Origami #image.jpg

  • #image.jpgDog: You know what, I’m going to count all those Sheep I can see in everyone’s Collections and the Draw Line. And guess what? For each Sheep I spot, I get to draw 3 cards! For example, if I see 2 Sheep, that means I get to draw 3 cards. How awesome is that?
  • #image.jpgFox: Here’s a fun one. I get to draw 3 cards, which is already great, but then I have to discard 1 of them. But hey, I get to add the remaining 2 cards to my hand. Just so you know, I can’t add all 3 cards and then decide to discard 1, that won’t be allowed. But still, it’s a pretty neat move, right?

The Basics of Origami

  • #image.jpgHedgehog: Hedgehog is a wild card that can be substituted for any other Origami on the table or in your hand.
  • #image.jpgFrog: The Frog card allows you to draw an additional card from the Draw Line and add it to your hand.
  • #image.jpgTurtle: Playing the Turtle card allows you to peek at someone else’s hand and take a card of your choice.

Special Origami Scoring

  • #image.jpgRabbit: If you have 5 or more cards remaining at the end of the game, score an additional 2 points.

Lawn Origami

  • #image.jpgBee: The Bee card counts as 0 origami, but it still counts towards your total.
  • #image.jpgCricket: You can’t play the same origami you just drew, unless you already have an identical one in your hand (show both to all players before playing it).

Spider: If you can’t draw exactly 6 folds, then you won’t be able to use this move. Keep in mind that certain effects may require you to draw a specific number of folds, like action #1.

Savannah Origami #image.jpg

  • #image.jpgLion: Unlike other Special Actions where you have to pay to play an Origami, the Lion lets you play an Origami for free.

Imagine you’re playing a game called Origami. In this game, you need to make folds on a paper to create different shapes. But here’s the thing: if you can’t make exactly 6 folds, you won’t be able to do a specific move called Spider. Remember, some effects might require you to make a certain number of folds, just like the first move.

Now let’s talk about another action called Lion. Unlike other special actions, playing an Origami with the Lion doesn’t cost you anything. It’s like getting something for free!

So, in this game, the Spider move requires 6 folds, and the Lion move allows you to play an Origami without paying anything. Keep these rules in mind as you play Savannah Origami!

Hey there! Let’s dive into the fascinating world of origami! I’m going to share some amazing rules and strategies with you, so get ready for some wall-to-wall excitement!

The Basics of Origami

So, you want to know the nitty-gritty details of playing origami? I’ve got you covered. Here are a couple of critters you need to keep in mind:

  • #image.jpgSnake: Look out for this slithery creature! You can add it to your collection. Remember, though, your collections have to be equal or differ by only 1 origami. Keep it balanced!
  • #image.jpgZebra: If you find yourself empty-handed, don’t despair! Pass, but still grab a card from the player on your left. No empty hands here!

Sea Origami #image.jpg

If the ocean is your thing, then sea origami is where the party’s at! Check out this sweet deal:

  • #image.jpgDolphin: Score yourself a discount with this aquatic beauty! When you play an origami, the Dolphin works its magic and can even reduce the cost to a mind-blowing zero folds if the normal cost is 2 folds. Talk about a steal!

I’m going to rewrite an expelled text about the “Lion and the Bee” and the “Whale” in a simpler and more accessible language.

You’ll be able to comprehend and appreciate the story of the “Lion and the Bee” and “Whale” even if you’re new to it.

The “Lion and the Bee” is an ancient tale with a twist. The Bee in this story has a special ability: it counts itself. So if you have a Lion and a Bee together, the Bee will count itself and the Lion. This means you’ll have an extra point to add to your Collection. This ability makes the Bee quite powerful in the game of Origami.

Now let’s talk about the Whale. Unlike the Bee, the Whale doesn’t count itself. But if you have two Whales in your Collection, they will both count each other. This means you’ll get double the points for having two Whales together. The Whale’s ability to count other Whales makes it a valuable card to have.

Here’s an example: if you have a Lion, a Bee, and two Whales in your Collection, the Bee will count itself and the Lion, and the two Whales will count each other. So in total, you’ll have three points from the Lion and Bee combination, and two points from the two Whales.

Now you have a better understanding of how the “Lion and the Bee” and the “Whale” work in the game of Origami. Enjoy playing and exploring different combinations to maximize your points!

Moving on to another set in the game called “Sky Origami.” There are two cards in this set: the Parrot and the Vulture. I’ll explain their abilities to you.

The Parrot is a cool card because it can copy any Instant Effect that you see in any Collection or in the Draw Line. It can only copy the Instant Effect and nothing else. This ability makes the Parrot versatile and strategic in the game.

Now let’s talk about the Vulture. The Vulture allows you to add cards from your hand to the one you drew to pay for the Origami. This is helpful when you don’t have enough cards to pay for an Origami, but you still want to make it. The Vulture gives you the option to use cards from your hand to make up for the shortage.

To summarize, the Parrot copies Instant Effects, and the Vulture lets you add cards from your hand to pay for the Origami. These abilities make the Parrot and the Vulture valuable cards to have in your Collection.

I hope you found this explanation helpful! Now you have a better understanding of how the “Sky Origami” cards – the Parrot and the Vulture – work in the game of Origami. Have fun playing and exploring their unique abilities!

The Game Comes to an End

Once the deck has been used up twice, it’s time to wrap things up. First, gather all the cards from the discard pile and shuffle them together with the remaining cards. Then, continue playing until the round is completed, which means going until it’s the Starting Player’s turn again.

At this point, every player gets one last chance to take a turn. The player sitting to the right of the Starting Player will always go last. Now it’s time to count the points and see who came out on top!

When it comes to scoring in Origami, your score is determined by the total number of points you have from the Origami in your Collections. Each Origami in your Collection is worth one point. Additionally, you can earn more points from any Scoring effects on the Origami in your Collections. These points count, even if they are covered by other Origami.

In order to win, you need to have the highest score. The player with the most points wins the game. In the event of a tie, the number of leftover cards in the tied players’ hands is counted. If the players are still tied, the victory is shared!

Let me give you an example. If the game ends and you have three cards left in your hand, you then count the points from the Origami in your Collections.

Origami: A Unique Game Mechanic

Let’s talk about Origami – it’s this cool thing some cards can do in the game that adds an extra twist to the gameplay experience.

So, here’s the deal: most Origami abilities come with a cost, just like any good thing in life. That means you have to pay a price to use the ability.

Now, when a card tells you to discard, pass, or do anything else with a card, it’s specifically referring to the cards you have in your hand, not the ones in your Collections.

The Origami That Starts It All

  1. First, take the paper and place the colored side facing up. Next, fold it in half vertically and then unfold it to its original position.
  2. Then, fold the paper in half horizontally and unfold it again.
  3. After that, rotate the paper so that it is in the shape of a diamond, with one corner pointing towards you.
  4. Now, fold the top corner of the diamond down to meet the bottom corner, creasing the fold well.
  5. Next, take the left corner of the diamond and fold it over to meet the right corner.
  6. Then, fold the right corner of the diamond over to meet the left corner.
  7. Finally, fold the bottom corner of the diamond up to meet the top corner, completing the waterbomb base.

What can you do with the waterbomb base?

Fold the top layer only

When it comes to origami, the art of folding paper, there are countless possibilities for creativity. I find it fascinating to see how a simple piece of paper can transform into something intricate and beautiful just by folding it in the right way. Today, I want to share a technique that will allow you to create an interesting effect with your origami creations.

So, let’s get started. The first thing you’ll need is a sheet of paper. It can be any size or color you prefer. Once you have your paper ready, lay it flat on a table or any other flat surface.

The next step is to fold the paper diagonally, creating a triangle shape. Take one corner of the paper and fold it over to meet the opposite corner. Make sure the edges line up perfectly and crease the fold well.

Now, here’s the twist. Instead of folding the entire triangle in half, we’re only going to fold the top layer. Take the top corner of the triangle and fold it down to meet the center crease. Again, make sure the edges align and crease the fold.

By folding only the top layer, you create a triangular flap that adds depth and dimension to your origami. It’s a simple technique, but it can make a big difference in the final result.

Once you’ve folded the top layer, you can continue with the rest of your origami design. Whether you’re making a crane, a flower, or a box, this technique will give your creation an extra touch of visual interest.

So, the next time you’re folding paper, give this technique a try. You might be surprised by the unique effect it adds to your origami. Have fun experimenting with different colors and patterns, and let your creativity soar. Happy folding!

Fold the corner past the edge

I have always loved the simple act of folding a piece of paper. It’s like magic, the way you can transform a flat, lifeless sheet into something three-dimensional and full of possibilities. And one of my favorite folds is the corner past the edge.

Let me show you how to do it. First, take a piece of paper and imagine it as a blank canvas, waiting for your creativity to unfold. Then, choose a corner and fold it towards the opposite side, so that the point touches the edge. Make sure the fold is crisp and clean, creating a sharp line.

Now, take the folded corner and fold it back, this time in the opposite direction. The point should go past the edge, creating a little pocket. And here’s the trick: tuck the corner inside the pocket, securing it in place.

Voila! You have successfully folded the corner past the edge. Now, you can admire your little creation and marvel at the simplicity of paper folding. But don’t stop there – let your imagination run wild. What can you create with this simple fold? A butterfly? A boat? The possibilities are endless.

So, next time you have a piece of paper in your hands, don’t just look at it blankly. Instead, fold the corner past the edge and see where your creativity takes you. You’ll be amazed at what you can create with a simple fold.

When faced with a difficult decision, it’s only natural to feel uncertain. Choosing the right path can be challenging, as there are often many factors to consider. But don’t worry, I’m here to help you navigate through this maze of choices.

Let’s start by understanding the importance of making well-informed decisions. They can have a significant impact on our lives, shaping our future and determining our happiness. It’s crucial to take the time to carefully evaluate your options and weigh the potential consequences.

So, what should you keep in mind when making a decision? First and foremost, consider your values and priorities. What matters most to you? What are you trying to achieve? By clarifying your goals, you’ll have a clearer sense of what you’re looking for.

Next, gather all the relevant information. Doing your research is key to making an informed decision. Consult trustworthy sources, seek advice from experts or people who have relevant experience, and gather as much knowledge as you can. This information will serve as your compass, guiding you towards the right decision.

It’s also essential to consider the potential risks and benefits of each option. What are the potential rewards they offer, and what are the potential pitfalls? By evaluating the pros and cons, you’ll be better equipped to make a wise choice.

However, it’s important to note that there’s no foolproof, guaranteed way to know which option is the best one. Life is unpredictable, and there will always be an element of uncertainty. But by following this process of thoughtful reflection and evaluation, you can increase your chances of making a decision that aligns with your values and has the best possible outcome.

Ultimately, the decision-making process is about finding a balance between logic and intuition. While it’s essential to analyze the facts and figures, don’t disregard your gut feelings. Sometimes, our instincts can guide us in the right direction, even when everything else seems unclear.

Remember, making a decision may feel daunting, but it also brings opportunities for growth and discovery. It’s through these choices that we shape our lives and chart our own paths. So, embrace the uncertainty, trust yourself, and be brave enough to make the decisions that will lead you closer to the life you desire.
