Getting Started
Hey there! Are you ready to have some fun? Let me tell you about this amazing game. It’s called LINQ, and it’s perfect for playing with a group of 4 or more people.
When the game starts, each player gets a pencil and two Guess Sheets – one for Round One and one for Round Two. Cool, right?
Now, we need to choose a Dealer and a Scribe. The Dealer’s job is to draw and deal the cards for each match. The position of the Dealer changes after every match, going clockwise. But don’t worry, the Scribe’s job remains the same, so you can relax and focus on winning!
Hey there, game enthusiasts! Let me share with you a crucial tip before we dive into the exciting world of UNO. In order to get started and have a blast, we need to organize the cards into two separate decks: the LINCT deck and the Bluff deck.
The LINCT deck is made up of 240 word cards, while the Bluff deck consists of 10 cards that have a “.” displayed on them, and these special cards conveniently sit at the front of the deck.
For the fun to begin, we must keep the LINCT deck in order, ensuring that each pair of matching word cards stay together. This is super important because each round requires two players to have the same word card.
Remember this golden rule: never shuffle the UNG deck! We don’t want to mix things up and make it impossible for players to find matching word pairs. So, resist the temptation and keep that deck intact.
If, by chance, the deck gets all jumbled up, don’t panic! We can easily fix it by resetting the cards and pairing them up once again. To make this task a breeze, just take out the first 10 cards from the card box – those are your Bluff deck cards!
Alrighty, now that we have everything sorted and ready to go, let’s embark on this exhilarating UNO adventure!
Once you’ve removed the UNG” cards and put them aside, it’s time to draw the first two LINQ” cards. After each round, the dealer will place these LINQ” cards at the end of the deck, and the next pair will be ready for the next round).
The Scribe is responsible for keeping track of the players’ names on both the Clue Board and the Score Board. After each round, the Scribe writes down the clues given by each player on the Clue Board for everyone to see. The Scribe also updates the scores for each player on the Score Board by adding the appropriate number of circles.
Goal of the Game
The goal of the game is to deduce which two players possess the LINQ by carefully listening to the clue words provided by all players.
So, let’s talk about the LINQ. It’s a pretty interesting concept, and I’m here to break it down for you.
So, imagine you’re playing a game with a bunch of people. And each person has a card with a word on it – but there are only two players who have the LINQ card. Those two players, they have the same word on their cards. It’s kind of a special thing.
Now, you might be wondering what the big deal is about the LINQ. Well, let me tell you – it’s all about connection. When I say connection, I mean that the two players with the LINQ, they have a strong bond. They can understand each other without even saying a word.
But here’s the catch – the other players don’t know who has the LINQ. It’s a secret. And that’s where the fun comes in. It’s like a little mystery, trying to figure out who has the LINQ. It adds a whole new level of excitement to the game.
See, the LINQ is more than just a word on a card. It’s a symbol of unity and understanding. It brings people together, even if they’ve never met before. It’s pretty magical, if you ask me.
So, next time you’re playing a game and someone mentions the LINQ, remember this: it’s not just a word, it’s a connection. It’s something that can bring people closer and create amazing moments. And who knows, maybe you’ll be one of the lucky ones with the LINQ card.

Game Play
Let’s dive right into the game! First, I’ll pick two cards from the LINQ deck and enough cards from the Bluff deck to make sure each player gets one. For example, if there are 6 players – including me as the dealer – I’ll draw 2 LINQ cards and 4 Bluff cards.
Next, I’ll shuffle all the selected cards together and hand them out face-down, one to each player. All the cards look the same on the back, so it’s a mystery!
Once everyone has their card, it’s time to take a peek without showing anyone else. Here’s where the fun begins! Two players will have cards with the same words, and they’re called the LINQ. The others will have Bluff cards.
Now, let’s start the game! The player to my left will kick things off by giving a one-word clue to describe their card. Then, we’ll go around in a circle, with each player giving their clue in clockwise order.
So, here’s the deal. We’ve got this game, and it’s got two rounds per match. Each round, everyone’s gotta say just one word to describe their card. Simple enough, right?
Now, the players with the LINQ card, they’re the tricky ones. They wanna let each other know they’ve got the LINQ, but they can’t make it too obvious or else the rest of the group will catch on. And then there’s the other players, they’re the bluffers. They wanna fool everybody, keep ’em guessing, and make sure nobody knows who’s got the LINQ.
In this scenario, there are two players, Melissa and Mia, both engaged in a game of LINQ. The secret LINQ word chosen for this round is “Blue”.
As the game begins, Erik takes the lead by trying to deceive the other players with the word “rock”.
Melissa hints at her own LINQ word, which is “ocean”, but she does so in a subtle way. Mia, on the other hand, tries to throw everyone off with the word “sky”. Meanwhile, Shane builds upon the clue given by Melissa and Mia by offering the word “shell” as a bluff. By the end of the first round, Melissa starts to suspect that Mia might have the correct LINQ word -UNO-.
In the following round, Erik keeps the “ocean” and “shell” theme going by playing the word “towel”. Melissa, however, takes a different approach by using the word “blue” in a different context and tries to entice Mia with the word “sad”. Shane, still fixated on the “beach” concept, remains persistent and plays the word “cold”. Finally, Mia seals the deal by guessing the LINQ word correctly: “Blue”.
Cracking the LINQ Code”
In this game, we each have a secret guess, and we don’t know what round others made their guesses in. We start guessing after everyone gives a clue word for Round One.
After Round One, we all write down the names of two players who we think have the LINQ on the Round One Guess Sheet. If we can’t figure it out, we write “No Guess”.
Once we’ve all written something for Round One, we put our guess sheets face-down and Round Two begins.
Remember: We can’t talk about our guesses yet because it might change how Round Two goes. We only reveal our guesses after two rounds.
Round Two is just like Round One.
Note: If you already made a guess in Round One and realize in Round Two that your guess was incorrect, you cannot guess again. Instead, write “No Guess” on the Round Two Guess Sheet. You can only guess once per match.
After Round Two, everyone will have written their guesses on either the Round One or Round Two Guess Sheet. On the other Guess Sheet, write “No Guess”. You won’t know anyone else’s guess or the round in which they guessed.
Once everyone finishes writing for Round Two, we reveal our guesses in the order we gave clues. It should be easy to identify the two LINQ players. If not, the two LINQ players must announce themselves before we award points.
The Thrill of Scoring Points
Guess what? I’ve got a game for you that’s all about scoring points! Are you ready to dive in?
Here’s how it works: in this game, it’s all about guessing which two players have the LINQ. Each player can only guess once per match, so choose wisely!
Now, let’s talk about the points. At the end of each match, players who correctly guess the LINQ will earn points. In Round One, a correct guess is worth a whopping 3 points. If you guess right in Round Two, you’ll get 2 points. But watch out! If you have a Bluff card and make an incorrect guess, you’ll still earn 1 point.
But wait, there’s a twist! In order for any player to score, both players who have the LINQ must correctly guess each other. It’s all or nothing, so teamwork is key!
Hey, dealer! Here’s a note for you: after each round, make sure to collect all the LINQ and Bluff cards. Place the LINQ card pair at the back of the deck box, so the next two cards are ready for the next round of play.
So here’s what happened: Erik, who had a Bluff card, earned just one point because he couldn’t guess right. On the other hand, Melissa, with the UNIT card, scored a whopping 3 points by guessing correctly in Round One.
In Round Two, Shane, with a Bluff card as well, managed to guess correctly and earned 2 points. Mia, who had the LINQ card, also scored 2 points by making the right guess.
Some Extra Rules
Now, there’s a rule that everyone needs to stick to: each player can only give a one-word clue in each round.
But here’s the catch: if you have the LINQ card, you can’t say the LINQ word itself or any word that sounds like it. Nope, not even words that rhyme with it. If someone slips up and breaks this rule, the match is over, and we start a fresh one.
But what if I don’t have the LINQ? Can I still play? Turns out, it’s totally fine! Only the two players with the LINQ will know this secret. Nobody else will figure it out, so you can keep playing without any problems.
Here’s the deal: no player is allowed to see another player’s card. And everyone gets one guess at the LINQ word in each round. So, even if you don’t have the LINQ, you can still try to crack the code.
How to Win
The goal is to be the first player to score 10 points. If there’s a tie, keep playing until someone breaks it or until someone has the most points above 10.
Tips and Tricks
Get in Your Partner’s Head – If you have the LINQ, you can try to nudge your partner into figuring it out by giving them a subtle clue in the first round. Then, in the second round, you can drop a hint that practically screams the answer. But be careful! If your partner guesses in the first round and doesn’t pick you, neither of you will score!
Master the Art of Bluffing – Stick to general clues. The more specific you are, the easier it is to guess that you’re the LINQ. So keep it broad and leave them guessing.
Body Language is Key – Acting like you know the answer can throw off your opponents. Take a second look at your card like you’re trying to remember the word. It’s a simple trick, but it works like magic.
Party Pack – If you have more than 8 players, don’t worry! You can still play LINQ. Just keep track of the scores on a separate piece of paper. But be warned, things can get pretty confusing with a big group, so proceed with caution!
