If it’s your turn and you end your turn on a kids’ Wild Card space, your parents collect the card for you. How to Play the Beat the Parents Game
Do you love playing games with your family? Well, I have a fun one for you called Beat the Parents! In this game, you and your family can compete against each other to see who knows more – kids or parents. It’s a real thrill to challenge your parents and show off your knowledge!
The game is pretty simple – there are two sets of cards, one for kids and one for parents. Each card has questions specifically designed for each age group. The kids’ questions are tailored to things they should know, while the parents’ questions are based on actual survey results. So, it’s a fair fight for everyone!
Here’s how you play:
- First, you need to divide into teams – kids versus parents. You can have as many players as you like, but make sure everyone is on a team.
- The youngest player gets to choose who goes first.
- Roll the dice to determine the category for the question. There are five categories: Family, Fun, Celebration, Stuff, and Kids Rule.
- The team that goes first draws a card from the other team’s deck and reads the question aloud. If they answer correctly, they earn a point.
- Then, it’s the other team’s turn to draw a card and answer a question.
- The game continues like this, with each team taking turns and answering questions from the opposite deck.
- If a team answers a question incorrectly, the other team has a chance to steal that point by answering the question themselves.
- The game goes on until all the cards have been used. The team with the most points at the end wins!

Setting up the Game
Get ready! Parents and kids will play as teams. Sit on opposite sides of the board. Shuffle the three decks of cards and place them separately. Each team puts their mover pieces on their starting positions.
How to Play
Now it’s time to start! The kids will go first. Parents, draw a question card and read out the first question for the kids.
If the kids answer correctly, they can move their mover piece forward by one space. Then, parents, ask the next question from the same card. But if the kids don’t answer correctly, they won’t be able to move and their turn ends.
By answering all three questions on a card correctly, your team can move ahead up to three spaces on each turn. Once you’ve finished with a card, put it back at the bottom of the deck, and now it’s the parents’ turn to play.
Bumping
If I happen to land on the same space as the other team, I get to bump their mover back two spaces. It’s like a little surprise attack!
Moving
So, on my team’s turn, we can only move one mover piece forward. It’s like taking one step at a time. For example, let’s say we answer the second and third question correctly, then we have to move the same mover piece forward. We can’t move two different pieces.
But here’s the thing, we can’t move backward unless we get a special card called a Wild Card, or unless the other team bumps us. So we have to be careful!
And when our mover piece finally reaches the other side of the board, then our turn is done. Phew!
Wild Cards
Now, here’s where things get interesting. When I land on one of my own Wild Card spaces, I get to pick up a Wild Card. It’s like a mini jackpot! And then I have to follow the instructions on the card and keep going with my turn.
But if I land on one of the other team’s Wild Card spaces, I only get to draw a Wild Card if it’s the end of my turn. It’s like a little bonus for me before I pass the turn to the other team.
