Get ready to play the Articulate! Your Life game!

Gather your friends and family and prepare to have a blast with the Articulate! Your Life board game. This game is a fun and exciting way to test your communication skills, expand your vocabulary, and have a great time with your loved ones.

The rules of the game are simple. You’ll be divided into teams, and each team will take turns describing words or phrases to their teammates. The catch is that you can’t use the actual word or phrase in your description! You have to think quickly and come up with clever ways to get your teammates to guess the word without saying it directly.

For example, let’s say your word is “hamburger.” You might describe it as a delicious food that you can find at fast food restaurants. You can also talk about how it’s made of a beef patty, placed between two buns, and topped with condiments like lettuce, tomato, and cheese. By providing these clues, you’re helping your teammates figure out the word without saying it outright.

Each team will have a set amount of time to guess as many words as possible. The team with the most correctly guessed words at the end of the game wins the round. You can play as many rounds as you like to determine the ultimate champion.

The Articulate! Your Life game is suitable for players aged 12 and above. It’s a fantastic way to improve your communication skills, boost your creativity, and have a fantastic time with your friends and family. So gather everyone together, get ready to articulate, and let the fun begin!

Guessing Game

How to Play

We’re going to have a blast playing this game! The goal is simple: be the first team to go around the board by guessing words. It’s all about the teamwork, so get ready to have some fun!

Setting Up

First, unfold the board and put the two sand timers in the center. Make sure everyone can see them.

Next, we need to divide into teams. It’s usually better to have two big teams instead of several small ones. Choose your teammates wisely!

Each team then picks a playing piece and puts it on the ‘START’ spot on the board. This is where the excitement begins!

Roles: Describers and Guessers

During the game, each team will take turns. On your team’s turn, you need to divide yourselves into two groups: the DESCRIBERS and the GUESSERS.

Here’s the fun part: every player on your team will have a chance to be a DESCRIBER at some point. But remember, only two people can be DESCRIBERS at the same time. Once you get the hang of the game, your team can even use just one DESCRIBER!

The Timers

The sand timers are an important part of the game. They help keep everything fair and exciting. When one of the timers runs out, it means the DESCRIBERS need to pass the turn to the other team. So make sure you keep an eye on those timers!

Hey there! Let me explain how the timers work in this game. You see, each segment on the board has a timer icon. If the icon is red, it means you have 20 seconds to take your turn. But if the icon is blue, you get a little more time – 30 seconds to be exact.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. If the icon shows two red timers instead of one, things change a bit. When the first 20-second timer runs out, you get an extra 20 seconds! So, in total, you’ll have 40 seconds to complete your turn.

Game On!

Let’s dive into the exciting world of game play. The colorful segments on the game board represent different categories of words. When your playing piece lands on a segment, that category is the focus of the round. For example, if you start on the “HOME LIFE” segment, you’ll be answering questions related to pale brown cards.

Each segment has a timer icon that indicates how much time you have for your turn. Keep an eye on it!

When it’s your team’s turn, one of your DESCRIBERS will roll the BONUS DICE. The number on the dice determines your team’s BONUS TARGET. Now, an opponent from another team will set the timer accordingly.

Once the BONUS TARGET is set, it’s time for the DESCRIBER to shine. They will pick a card from the front of the pack and use their words to describe the word or phrase on the card to their teammates. The GUESSERS on your team will listen closely and try to guess the right answer. When they do, the DESCRIBERS move on to the next card, but this time, sticking to the same category.

Once the timer runs out, my turn is over. I count how many cards were guessed correctly, and my team’s game piece moves forward that many spaces.

If we guessed enough cards correctly to meet or exceed the BONUS TARGET, we get to add two extra spaces to our move.

Where our game piece ends up determines the category we’ll play in the next turn.

The cards we’ve already used go back into the deck, and it’s the next team’s turn to play.

Max Time

If we land on the MAX TIME (white) space, we get to choose which category we want to play. We’ll have 40 seconds for this turn (look for the ‘two red timers’ icon).

Description Rules

  • To give clues for a word, I can either say the letter the word starts with or tell you how many letters it has.

Understanding the Game

So here’s how the game works: I say a word and you have to guess what it is. But, to make it more challenging, there are rules you need to follow. First, you can’t say the actual word or any words that sound like it. For example, if the word is “post,” you can’t say “postage.” Second, you can give clues that rhyme with the word or sound like it. Third, you can act out the word or use gestures to convey its meaning. Lastly, if you’re stuck, you can choose to pass, but you can only do that twice in a turn.

End of the Game

The game ends when the first team reaches or passes the finish segment. The team that does so is the winner. If you want to play a longer game, you can use the entertainment category on the finish segment and play another round.
