Get Ready to Play the 5-Minute Marvel Game!

Hey there! I’m excited to guide you through the awesome world of the 5-Minute Marvel Game. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the world of superheroes, this game is going to blow your mind!

First things first, let’s talk about the rules. Don’t worry, they’re super simple! In this game, you’re going to team up with others to take down evil villains and save the day. The best part? You only have 5 minutes to do it!

Now, before we jump into the action, we need to understand how the game works. It’s all about playing cards and working together as a team. You’ll have a deck of hero cards and a deck of villain cards. Each hero card has a special ability, and each villain card has a challenge you need to overcome.

Here’s how it goes down: we start the timer and flip over a villain card. This is the threat we need to stop. You and your team need to work together, using your hero cards, to defeat the villain. Each hero card has an ability that can help against the villain’s challenge.

The catch is, you only have 5 minutes to defeat as many villains as you can. The game is fast-paced, intense, and will keep you on the edge of your seat. It’s a race against the clock!

As you defeat villains, you’ll earn points. The more points you earn, the closer you get to victory. But be careful, if you run out of time or the villains overwhelm you, it’s game over.

Ready to jump into the action? Grab your hero cards and get ready to save the world in just 5 minutes. It’s time to show those villains who’s boss!

Remember, superhero, this game is all about teamwork, quick thinking, and having a blast. So get your game face on, and let’s go!

Setup

Hey there! So you’re ready to jump into the world of heroes and embark on an exciting adventure. Let’s get started by selecting which hero you want to play as. Pick the hero that calls to you and place their Hero Mat in front of you, making sure the side marked INJURED is face-down. Cool, right?

Next, grab the Hero Deck for your chosen hero and give it a good shuffle. Once that’s done, place it face down to the right of your Hero Mat. All set?

Now, it’s time to get your resources in order. Take the stack of Resource Cards and give it a thorough shuffle. Once that’s done, divide the cards among the players so that everyone gets an equal number. Place your hero’s deck of Resource cards face down to the left of your Hero Mat.

Wait, there’s more! You need to draw a starting hand from your Resource Deck. But hang on, don’t draw any cards from your Hero Deck just yet, that comes later. The number of cards you draw depends on how many people are playing. Check out the table below to find the right starting size for your hand:

Number of Players
Starting Hand Size
2 players 6 cards
3 players 4 cards
4 or 5 players 3 cards

Awesome! Now that you have your starting hand of Resource Cards, you’re all set to dive into this thrilling adventure with your chosen hero. Get ready for some epic challenges and unforgettable experiences. Enjoy!

Note: As we play the game, we’ll always make sure to refill our hand to this minimum hand size every time we play or discard a card.

Getting Ready for the Mission

  • First, put the Boss Mat for the initial boss (Green Goblin) right in the middle of the table.
  • Next, count out the number of Door Cards mentioned at the bottom of the Boss Mat (which is 15 cards for Green Goblin).
  • Depending on the number of players and the skill level of your team, you’ll need to add more Door Cards and Crisis Cards. Here’s how it goes:
    • If you’re playing with beginner heroes, you should add 1 Door Card and 1 Crisis Card per player.
    • If your heroes are veterans, you should add 2 Door Cards and 2 Crisis Cards per player.
  • Take the Door Cards and Crisis Cards and shuffle them together to form the Mission Deck. Put it on top of the Boss Mat, making sure the boss’s symbols are covered.

Let’s Get Started

First things first, grab a timer that is easy to pause and restart. You’re going to need it for this mission. Set the timer to 5 minutes and press start as soon as you turn over the first Door Card in the Mission Deck.

Resources and Door Cards

Every Door Card you encounter will have a bunch of symbols on it representing different resources. To defeat the Door Card, you need to match those symbols with Resource Cards from your hand. Here are the symbols:

Did you know that each Door Card comes with its own unique type? Certain Hero Cards and Special Abilities can actually take care of Door Cards of a particular type without needing to match any symbols. It’s pretty neat! Let me tell you about the different types:

When it comes to progressing in the game, defeating the Door Cards is crucial. Let me explain the three ways you can handle a Door Card:

Matching Symbols

How to play 5-Minute Marvel Official Rules UltraFoodMessTo defeat a Door Card, you’ll need to play Resource Cards and match their symbols with the symbols on the Door Card. It’s not necessary for the cards to come from only one player – multiple players can contribute to defeating a single Door Card. If you have a card with more than one symbol, you can choose to use either one or both symbols against the Door Card you’re facing. However, you won’t be able to play a Resource Card if its symbols don’t match any symbols on the Door Card. How to play 5-Minute Marvel Official Rules UltraFoodMess

Using Action Cards

Utilizing Your Special Ability

Hey there! Did you know that all heroes in this game have a unique power? It’s right there on their Hero Mat! Pretty cool, huh? But here’s the catch – you can only use your power if you’re not injured. Bummer, I know.

Now, some heroes have an extra advantage. They’re like the superheroes of heroes! They can defeat certain types of Door Cards using their special abilities. How awesome is that?

To use your special ability, toss 3 cards from your hand onto the table. Make sure everyone sees what you’re doing, and announce your amazing power to the team. You can activate your ability as many times as you want, as long as you’ve got enough cards to discard. And don’t worry, you’ll get to draw more cards right after using your special power. So it’s a win-win!

Once you’ve used your special ability to defeat a Door Card, it’s time to celebrate! Sweep all the cards you played to defeat it, along with the defeated card itself, to one side of the table. And then, drum roll, please, flip over the next card in the Mission Deck. You’re making progress, my friend!

Crisis Cards

When it comes to crisis cards, they’re a bit different from door cards. Instead of defeating them, you have to act on the instructions right away when you turn them over. Once you follow the card’s instructions, get rid of it and flip over the next card in the mission deck.

Now, let’s talk about refilling your hand. If you end up with fewer cards than the minimum hand size, you need to draw new cards right away to bring your hand back up to the minimum.

You have a choice when drawing new cards – you can either take them from your resource deck or your hero deck. Your hero deck has your most powerful cards, but remember, you only have ten of them, so use them wisely!

If you have more cards than the minimum hand size, that’s perfectly fine. You don’t have to get rid of any extra cards. However, you also won’t draw any new cards until your hand size goes back below the minimum.

Now let’s discuss injured heroes. When someone gets injured, it’s important to take into account that they can’t use their special abilities anymore. However, they can still fight and draw from their decks.

When you play as a hero, you have a special Hero Mat that has an “INJURED” side. Sometimes, certain Crisis Cards will tell you to flip your mat over or turn it to the injured side.

If your hero gets injured, you won’t be able to use their Special Ability until something allows you to flip it back. Some heroes have their own Special Abilities or Hero Cards that can help you flip your mat back, or a Crisis Card might give you instructions to flip it over.

If you have no other options, you can choose to hurt yourself in order to defeat a Door Card. You’ll have to discard your entire hand and flip your mat to the injured side. It’s a tough choice but it can be useful.

Remember, this strategy only works for defeating Door Cards, not Crisis Cards or bosses. Although, you can still risk injuring yourself when facing a boss just to get a new hand of cards. But be careful, if you’re already injured or if you have no cards left to discard, you won’t be able to hurt yourself.

Game Over

So here’s the deal: after taking out all the cards in the Mission Deck, you still need to beat the boss by matching the symbols on the Boss Mat. If you manage to defeat the boss before time is up, you’ve completed the mission and can move on to the next boss.

Remember: There’s no magic card or special power that can instantly defeat a boss. The only way to win is by matching their symbols.

When Things Go Wrong

There are three ways your team can fail a mission:

  • If time runs out before you defeat the boss;
  • If every player runs out of cards; or
  • If you can’t beat a Door Card or the boss. If that happens, you have to start that Boss’ mission all over again.

Starting Fresh

So, here’s what you need to do to get ready for the next round. First, gather up all the cards and separate them into different piles – Hero Cards, Resource Cards, and Door/Crisis Cards. Make sure to shuffle the decks so that the cards you’ll get next round are completely random.

Now, something cool about this game is that you can switch heroes between missions if you want to. So, if you feel like trying out a different hero for the next mission, go ahead and make the switch. And hey, you can also invite new players or say goodbye to some if you want to mix things up. Just remember to adjust the number of Door and Crisis Cards accordingly so that the difficulty stays balanced!
