Let me tell you about the different parts that make up Core Worlds.
Sector Cards
We use the five Sector Cards to keep track of where each Galactic Deck is on the table (look to the right).
Each Galactic Deck represents a specific Galactic Sector. There are five Sectors in total. They go from the wild and untamed Barbaric Worlds on the galaxy’s edge (Sector 1) all the way to the powerful Core Worlds at the center of the galaxy (Sector 5).
Round Marker
I have this fascinating piece of information for you about a marker that is often seen in the shape of a circle. Yes, you heard me right, a round marker! It’s quite interesting, isn’t it?
Now, let’s dive into the details of this unique marker. This type of marker is widely recognized, and it’s known as a round marker because of its circular shape. But what’s the big deal about it? Why is it important? Let me tell you.
When you think about markers, what comes to your mind? Most likely, you think about a tool used for highlighting or drawing on paper. Well, that’s true, but round markers have a different purpose. They are used for marking specific spots or locations, both indoors and outdoors. Isn’t that cool?
Round markers can be found in various places. You might come across them on the floor of a building, on a street or sidewalk, or even in a parking lot. They serve as a way to identify certain places or give directions. Imagine walking down a corridor, and suddenly, you see a round marker on the floor. You know you’re on the right path!
But how do you interpret these round markers? Here’s where it gets interesting. Round markers come in different colors, symbols, or even numbers. They are like secret codes that you need to decipher. Each color, symbol, or number represents something specific. It could be a symbol for a restroom, an arrow indicating the exit, or a number denoting a parking spot. It’s like a puzzle waiting to be solved!
Now, let’s take a moment to think about the significance of these round markers. They play a crucial role in our daily lives, guiding and directing us. Imagine if we didn’t have them! We would be lost, wandering aimlessly without any clue about where to go.
When you’re exploring a new building or a large outdoor area, these round markers become your best friends. They provide you with a sense of security and confidence. You no longer have to rely solely on your intuition; you have tangible markers helping you find your way.
So, the next time you encounter a round marker, take a moment to appreciate its importance. It’s not just a simple circle on the ground; it’s a powerful tool guiding you through the world. Let it be a reminder that sometimes, even the smallest things can have a significant impact on our lives.
As the game goes on, I’m making my way through the galaxy by moving the Round Marker along the Sector Cards. This keeps me engaged and invested in what’s happening.
There are two Rounds in each Sector. When the Round Marker enters a new Sector, it’s time to draft cards and conquer Worlds from the Galactic Deck. The Sector Cards also show me how many Actions I can take in each Round.
The Destiny Marker
When the game begins, the player who has the Home World with the lowest number is given the Destiny Marker. Having the Destiny Marker means that player gets to make the first move in the game.
After each round ends, the Destiny Marker is passed to the player on the left. This gives every player a turn to act first in a future round.
Player Boards
Hey there! Let’s talk about something pretty cool – Player Boards in board games. You know, Player Boards are super important because they help us keep track of our Actions and Energy. It’s like having our own personal dashboard!
On our Player Board, we also have some really handy reference materials. We’ve got a Phase Summary, which reminds us of all the different phases in the game. It’s like having a cheat sheet right in front of us!
But that’s not all! We also have a list of Turn Options that we can choose from during the Action Phase. It’s great because it gives us ideas and strategies to consider. And, of course, we can’t forget about the information on each of the Core Worlds. It’s like having our own encyclopedia of knowledge!
So, as you can see, Player Boards are a crucial tool in board games. They help us keep track of everything we need to know and make smart decisions. It’s like having a superpower while playing!
Action Markers
Hey, did you know that each Empire is only allowed a certain number of Actions every Round? It’s true! And to keep track of those Actions, players use these nifty things called Action Markers.
But wait, there’s more!
We’ve also got Energy Markers. These bad boys are essential for powering up your gameplay. Think of them as little bundles of energy that you can strategically use to elevate your game. Pretty neat, huh?
In Core Worlds, energy is everything. You and I keep track of our energy by moving our energy markers on our player boards. Every round, our worlds generate energy for us to use.
We can spend this energy to recruit new units and tactics into our empires, as well as to deploy units onto our warzones.
Tokens for Extra Energy
We also have energy tokens that give us bonus energy when we draft certain cards from the central zone. Some units, like the Genetic Super Soldier, even use energy tokens to activate their special abilities.
To balance the starting positions, there are three energy surge tokens that we can use in the game.
World Cards
Hello there! Have you ever heard of World Cards? They’re like these magical little treasures that come in the form of collectible cards. World Cards possess incredible powers, you see, and they can transport you to different parts of the world with just a touch. Imagine that!
Now, I have to admit, the concept of World Cards is quite fascinating. These small cards hold within them a whole universe of possibilities. Each card represents a specific location, be it a bustling city, a serene beach, or a majestic mountain. And when you hold a World Card in your hand, you can feel the energy pulsating through your fingertips.
It’s not just the physical aspect that makes World Cards so incredible. No, these cards have a way of stirring up emotions within you. When you hold a card, you can feel the excitement of diving into a new adventure, the tranquility of immersing yourself in nature, or the awe of witnessing a historic landmark. World Cards have this magical ability to transport you, not just geographically, but emotionally as well.
And the best part? Collecting World Cards is an adventure in itself. It’s like embarking on a treasure hunt, searching for these hidden gems that carry the essence of different parts of the world. It’s a journey of curiosity and discovery, where you never know what wonders you might find next.
But choosing the right World Card can sometimes be a challenge. You have to tap into your intuition and ask yourself, “Where do I want to go today?” Do you feel the pull of the ocean? Or is it the allure of a bustling city that beckons you? Each World Card holds its own allure, its own story, and it’s up to you to decide which one resonates with you the most.
Once you’ve chosen a World Card, hold it close and let it whisk you away to a new destination. Close your eyes and imagine yourself standing amidst sandy beaches, vibrant streets, or serene forests. Let yourself be enveloped by the sights, sounds, and smells of that place, even if just for a moment. Let the World Card be your guide as you embark on a journey of exploration and wonder.
So, my friend, if you’re ready for an adventure like no other, don’t hesitate to give World Cards a try. They’re a portal to a world of magic and adventure, waiting to be discovered. With each card you collect, you’ll unlock new experiences and create memories that will last a lifetime. So go ahead, choose a World Card, and let your imagination take flight. The world is yours to explore!
Let me tell you about World cards. They stand out with their green background. At the start of the game, each player has one Home World in their Warzone. As the game progresses, new Worlds will pop up in the Central Zone. These Worlds can be invaded by using the Units on the table in front of you.
It’s important to note that each Empire’s Worlds will always be displayed in their Warzone. They will never be added to your hand, deck, or discard pile.
Now, let’s talk about what you’ll find on a World card. The “Energy” on the card represents how much Energy that World generates every Round. The Fleet and Ground Strengths on the card represent its defense against an Invasion.
That’s a brief overview of World cards. To learn more, let’s dive into Unit Cards.
When it comes to playing the game, there are different types of cards you need to understand. One of these is the Unit Cards, which are easy to recognize because they have a yellow background. These cards represent the various types of military forces you can use, such as Heroes, Infantry, Robots, Vehicles, Starfighters, Star Cruisers, and Capital Ships. These units are essential for invading different Worlds within the game.
To add new Units to your Empire, you must pay the Draft Cost indicated on the cards. Once you draft a Unit, it goes into your discard pile. However, the card won’t come into play immediately. You’ll need to shuffle your discard pile to create a new draw deck and then draw the card into your hand before you can use it.
The Deploy Cost on the cards shows how much Energy you need to spend to deploy the Unit from your hand to your Warzone. Keep in mind that the special abilities or effects mentioned on the card will only take effect once the Unit is in play.
Tactic Cards
Hey there! Let’s dive into tactic cards, which are pretty cool and can have a big impact on the game. You’ll notice that tactic cards have a blue background, so they’re easy to spot.
When you use a tactic card, it immediately affects the game, and then it’s gone. You won’t be able to use it again. To get new tactic cards, you can pay the draft cost. It’s like adding new moves to your empire.
Once you’ve drafted a tactic card, it goes into your discard pile. You can’t play tactic cards on the game board. Instead, you’ll play them directly from your hand. They won’t be part of your warzone.
Some tactic cards make your actions even better. Let’s say you have a tactic card that enhances an invasion. When you play that card during an invasion, it’ll give you an extra boost. Others can be played as an action, but they’ll use up one of your action points for that round. Each tactic card has specific instructions on when and how to use it.
Now, let’s talk about prestige cards
Imagine this: you’re playing a game called Galactic Sector, and you’ve reached the final level, known as the Core Worlds. There’s something special about this part of the game – these grand, impressive cards with their regal red background. They’re called Prestige cards, and they serve one purpose: to add more points to your Empire.
Now, here’s the thing about Prestige cards: they’re not like the other cards in the game. Units and Tactics cards get discarded as you play, but Prestige cards, they’re unique. When you get your hands on one, it doesn’t go to the discard pile. Oh no, it goes straight to your Warzone, right in the middle of your fabulous empire.

Special Icons
You’ll notice that many Units and Tactics come with a Special Icon on the left side of their Card Types.
Right now, these Special Icons don’t have any effect on gameplay. However, they will be important in a future expansion of Core Worlds.
Game Terms
When I look at Units and Tactics, I often see this little symbol next to their Card Types. It’s called a Special Icon, and it’s meant to catch your attention. While they don’t really do anything in the game right now, I’ve heard that they have big plans for them in the future.
So, what exactly are these Special Icons? Well, they’re unique symbols that help us identify certain Units and Tactics. They’re like little markers that distinguish these cards from the rest of the bunch.
But why are they even there if they don’t have any gameplay purpose? That’s a good question. The truth is, the folks behind Core Worlds are planning something special for us. They’ve got an expansion in the works, and these Special Icons will play a crucial role in it.
I can’t tell you exactly what they have in store for us, but I can assure you that it’s going to be exciting. These Special Icons are like a sneak peek into the future of Core Worlds. They’re a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come.
So, the next time you see one of these Special Icons, don’t shrug it off. Pay attention to it. It might not do anything now, but soon enough, it will be a key part of the game. It’ll be like unlocking a whole new level of excitement and strategy.
I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us. These Special Icons are like a mystery waiting to be solved. They’re the promise of something bigger and better. And I, for one, am ready to dive in and see what lies ahead. So, join me on this thrilling journey and let’s discover the hidden secrets of Core Worlds together.
Central Zone: When you play the game, I draw new cards from the Galactic Decks and show them in the Central Zone. This is the area where we all play the game together. These cards can be Units and Tactics that you can add to your Empire, or Worlds that you can go conquer.
Empire: You are in charge of an Empire. It all starts with a Home World and a Starting Deck. Your Empire includes all the cards in your hand, the ones you draw from your deck, the ones you discard, and the ones you have in your Warzone.
Fleet Strength: Each World has something called Fleet Strength. It shows how strong the starships protecting that World are. To successfully invade a World, you need to match or surpass its Fleet Strength. Some Units have a Fleet Strength too, which you can use to invade a World.
Ground Strength: Every World has its own Ground Strength, which represents the ground forces and infantry that defend it against surface attacks. To successfully Invade a World, you must have at least an equal Ground Strength. When invading a World, you can use the Ground Strength of your Units to match or exceed the Ground Strength of that World.
Invasion: To expand your Empire and claim new Worlds, you must launch Invasions. An Invasion involves discarding cards from your Warzone to match both the Fleet Strength and Ground Strength of the World you wish to invade. By doing so, you can conquer a new World and add it to your Empire.
Warzone: Each player has a Warzone as part of their Empire. It is an area where conquered Worlds are displayed. You can also deploy Units from your hand, placing them face up in your Warzone. These Units can then be used to launch Invasions and conquer new Worlds.
