Hey there! I want to tell you a fascinating story about an incredible place called Xalapa. It’s a magical land where shamans from different tribes gather together for a special event. They come together to celebrate and have a great time. But something unexpected happens during their joyful reunion – a vision appears to them, predicting a terrible drought that will devastate their land. How can they prevent this disaster? Well, that’s where you come in!

In Xalapa, you have the chance to prove yourself as the strongest shaman and save the land from the looming drought. You’ll compete with other players to complete challenges given to you by the Oracle. These challenges will test your skills and abilities to determine who is truly the most powerful shaman.

Getting ready for the adventure

Now, let’s prepare ourselves for this exciting journey! To start, place the game board right in the middle of the playing area so that it’s easily accessible to everyone. Next, put the day tile on the circle in the box on the left side of the game board. This tile will help us keep track of time during the game.

Each player will receive eight special oracle stones, a shaman stone in their own color, and five tiles of disfavor, also in their color. These items will be essential in your quest to become the strongest shaman in Xalapa. Are you ready for the challenge?

Here’s how to set up and play the oracle card game:

Start by sorting the cards based on their backs. Remove any beginner cards with one or two oracles and place them in the third and fourth fields at the top of the game board. Then, shuffle the remaining cards separately and create two piles next to the game board. Now, we’re ready to start!

Let’s Play!

Xalapa is a game that lasts for seven rounds. In each round, we do a few things: we put the oracle cards down, we place the oracle stones, we move the shaman stones forward, and we end the round. After the first round, we move the day tile. Then we draw a card and put it on the left side of the board with the oracle stones facing up. This is the first challenge we have to complete. It’s important to complete this challenge because it lets us move forward in the game. Finally, we put the four novice cards on the bottom row of the board from left to right.

So, here’s the deal. Once we’ve decided on the challenges, one of us will start the game by saying “let’s go!” Then it’s time for each of us to tackle the challenges we’ve been given. We each have our own game board, and the goal is to complete the challenges using as few stones as possible.

Here’s the catch – once someone finishes a challenge, they have to shout “done!” and flip the hourglass. When that happens, we all have to put our hands in the air and try to finish our own challenges before the sand runs out. It’s a race against the clock, and we’ve got to move fast!
