Storehouse – learn to play with

STOREHOUSE

Storehouse is a solitaire game known by several names, including Thirteen Up and The Reserve. Unlike Klondike, which has seven columns, Storehouse only has four columns in its tableau. It also features a special pile called the storehouse, as well as a draw pile and a waste pile. The player’s ability to move entire columns gives them a lot of freedom in manipulating the cards. However, the chances of winning are only about thirty percent.

THE CARDS & THE DEAL

To set up the deck, you need to remove all the 2’s. Place them in a row to start the foundations. To the left of the foundations, create the storehouse by dealing thirteen cards and flipping the top one face up. On the right side of the storehouse, deal a row of four cards to form the tableau. The remaining cards make up the draw pile, which you can keep in your hand. The waste pile can be built to the right of the tableau.

THE PLAY

When playing this card game, you have the option to add cards from the storehouse, draw pile, and waste pile to the tableau. Take one card at a time from the draw pile and place any unwanted cards on the waste pile. Remember, the table columns should be arranged in descending order based on their suit. If you want, you can pick up a whole column and move it to the top of another column. Whenever there are empty spaces in the tableau, fill them right away with the top card from the storehouse. After using up all the cards in the storehouse, you can continue using the waste pile or draw pile if you need more cards. It’s not necessary to fill an empty space in the tableau once you’ve finished with the storehouse.

So here’s the deal. I’m trying to build each foundation, right? And get this: I have to do it in order, from lowest to highest card in each suit, and end with the Ace. Once I place a card on a foundation, it’s stuck there. No take-backsies.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting. I can move the top cards from the storehouse, draw pile, waste pile, and tableau columns to the foundation. Gotta keep an eye out for those eligible cards!

Once I’ve gone through the entire draw pile, guess what? I shuffle the waste pile and start all over again. And get this – I can do it twice! Talk about a second chance.

WINNING

Now, here’s the ultimate goal: I need to complete all the foundations before I go through the draw pile three times. That’s the ticket to victory, my friend.
