Welcome to Shady Pets!
Hey there! Shady Pets is an exciting game designed with the bold and daring in mind. In this strategic game, we all have a secret collection of Pets hidden in our hands. Right at the center of the playing area, there are four Mystery Pets waiting to be discovered. Each of these mysterious creatures holds valuable points. The challenge is to identify the obvious pets while keeping track of your score.
When you feel ready, take a leap and make your best guess about the Mystery Pets. Guess right, and you’ll earn some points. But be careful! If you’re wrong, those precious points will vanish into thin air! The first player to reach 50 points becomes the champion of the game. Could that be you?
Getting Set Up
Alright, let’s get this show on the road! To begin, gather the Pet Cards and the Action Cards. Don’t mix them up just yet! First, let’s organize the Pet Cards into four categories: dogs, cats, hamsters, and reptiles. Give each category a good shuffle.
Hey there! Let’s get started with the game. Grab a card from each group of Pet Cards and place them face down in your Mystery Card Holder. Make sure to keep them separate. These will be in the center of the playing area. The rest of the Pet Cards can be shuffled and dealt to each player.
If there are two players, you’ll each get 10 Pet Cards. For three players, you’ll each get 8 cards. Four players get 7 cards, and five players get 5 cards. The remaining Pet Cards will be placed face up on the table for everyone to see.
Now, let’s deal the Action Cards. Each player will get 5 cards face down. The rest will create the Draw Pile in the middle of the table. Don’t forget to mark the Pet Cards that have been dealt and the ones that are face up on your score sheet. All set! The game is ready to begin!
It’s Game Time!
Welcome to the game! I’ll explain how it works and what you need to do.
First, let’s decide who goes first. The youngest player gets to start, and then we’ll take turns clockwise around the group.
Now, during your turn, you can choose between two actions. You can play an Action Card by placing it in the Play Pile. This allows you to use its power. Or you can show one of your Pet Cards to the table and then draw an Action Card, which will end your turn.
Remember, if a new Pet Card is revealed, you can mark it on your score sheet. This will help you keep track of which pets are in the Mystery Card Holders.
Each Action Card tells you what action you need to do. Make sure to complete the action when you play the card.
When it’s my turn in the game, I can make a guess about the Mystery Cards. I have to let everyone know that I want to guess at the start of my turn. Then, the other players can look at their cards to see if they have the card I’m guessing.
If someone else has the card I’m guessing, they have to show it to everyone. But if I guess wrong and no one else has the card, I lose points and skip my next turn. Later, I can take out the card from the Mystery Card Holder and show it to everyone. If I guessed right, I earn points. But if I guessed wrong, I lose points.
The first Mystery Pet card is worth 5 points. The second one is worth 10 points. The third one is worth 15 points. And the fourth one is worth 20 points. So, depending on whether I’m right or wrong, I’ll either gain or lose the points that go with the card I guessed.
If you guess correctly, you can keep playing or end your turn.
Once all the Mystery Cards are revealed, the round is over. The player with the most points wins the round! You can decide to play only one round, and in that case, the player with the most points is the winner.
Alternatively, you can choose to play until someone reaches 50 points. The first player to reach 50 points wins the game!
