Meet Mrs. Claus – The Festive Twist on Old Maid

Hey there! Let me introduce you to a fun and exciting card game called Mrs. Claus. It’s a festive spin on the classic game Old Maid. In this game, we’re going to draw cards from each other and try to collect sets of matching cards. But here’s the twist – unlike Old Maid, the player who ends up with Mrs. Claus at the end wins the game! Sounds exciting, right? Let’s dive in!

The Cards and How We Deal Them

Today, I’m going to tell you how to play a fun game called Mrs. Claus. It’s quite simple, and I think you’ll enjoy it!

First, you need to gather your game materials. You’ll need 6 bulbs of each color – let’s say red, green, and blue. You also need 6 bubble bulb cards, 8 plug cards, and 1 special Mrs. Claus card. Make sure to shuffle all of these cards together to mix them up!

Once all the cards are shuffled, it’s time to deal them out. Each player should receive one card at a time until there are no more cards left. It’s possible that some players might end up with more cards than others, but don’t worry, it’s all part of the game!

Now that everyone has their cards, it’s time to start playing. The goal of the game is to collect sets of bulbs. A set consists of 3 bulbs of the same color. So, for example, if you have 3 red bulbs, that’s a set.

On your turn, you can either draw a card from the deck or take a card from another player. If you decide to draw a card, choose one from the top of the deck and add it to your hand. But if you want to take a card from another player, you have to ask them nicely by saying, “Can I please have a card?” The player then has to give you one card of their choice.

As you collect sets of bulbs, place them face up in front of you. It’s important to keep your sets separate so that everyone can see how many you have.

But be careful! Some cards can shake things up. The bubble bulb cards, for example, allow you to steal a bulb from another player’s set. And the plug cards can be used to block someone from stealing your bulbs.

Keep playing until all the cards have been drawn and no more sets can be made. Then, it’s time to count up your sets. Each set of bulbs is worth 1 point, so the more sets you have, the better!

That’s all there is to it! I hope you have a great time playing Mrs. Claus. It’s a fun game that the whole family can enjoy. Good luck!

The Game

Once the cards are dealt, we all lay down any pairs we have. Remember, a pair can only have two cards in it.

Now, it’s time to decide who goes first. Whoever is the youngest gets that honor. They take a card from the person on their right, choosing randomly. If they find any new pairs in their hand, they show them to everyone. Then, it’s the next player’s turn, and so on, moving to the left.

This keeps going until all the cards have been played and all the pairs have been made. Eventually, only one player will be left with the Mrs. Claus card.

The Winner

The player who ends up with the Mrs. Claus card at the end of the game is the winner!
