MONTE CARLO

Hey there! Have you ever played Monte Carlo? It’s a really cool solitaire game that I think you’ll enjoy. The goal of the game is to remove all of the cards from the tableau by matching them up in pairs. But here’s the catch: whenever you remove cards, the remaining ones shift around. So you have to be careful with your choices!

THE CARDS & THE LAYOUT

In Monte Carlo, you’ll need a standard 52-card French deck. Give it a good shuffle, and then deal out the cards in a 5×5 grid. Make sure all of the cards are face up and not overlapping. The rest of the cards will be your draw pile, so keep them aside.

Let’s Play!

When I look at the tableau, I search for cards that match and are right next to each other. These pairs can be taken off the grid and put in the discard pile. Pairs can be made if the cards are next to each other side by side, up and down, or even diagonal.

Once all the pairs have been removed, it’s time to rearrange the remaining cards. First, I’ll focus on the top row. I’ll shift the cards to the left to fill in any empty spaces that were created when we removed the pairs. Next, I’ll move to the row below and shift those cards to the left and up, filling in any gaps from the row above. I’ll keep doing this until there are no more cards that can be shifted. Finally, I’ll fill any remaining empty spaces in the bottom row with cards from the draw pile.

Achieving Victory

I want to share with you a tried and true method of winning a game. To secure the title of victor, you need to complete a series of actions that will ultimately lead you to success. The objective is to remove all the cards from the tableau by matching them in pairs and depositing them in the discard pile. Once this task is accomplished, you can proudly declare yourself the winner!
