Welcome to Mexican Stud!
Mexican Stud is a fun poker card game that you can play with 2 or more players. The goal of the game is to build the best poker hand for each round.
Before starting the game, you and your friends should decide on the maximum and minimum bids, as well as the ante, which is the amount of money that players need to contribute to the pot before the game begins.
Let’s Get Started: Setup
To determine the first dealer, you can choose someone randomly, and then the dealer position will pass to the left for each new round.
Once the dealer is selected, each player needs to pay the ante, which goes into the pot. Then, the dealer will deal two face-down cards to each player.
Understanding Card and Hand Rankings
In Mexican Stud, the ranking of cards and hands follows the standard poker rules. The highest-ranking card is the Ace, followed by King, Queen, Jack, and so on, down to 2. For a complete list of hand rankings, you can refer to the official poker rules.
It’s Time to Play: Gameplay
Alright, let’s get into this game! First things first, everyone picks one card from their hand and shows it. Once that’s done, we move on to the bidding round. Follow the regular poker rules for placing bets.
Now that the first round of bidding is over, each player gets dealt another card face-down. You’ll have two cards again, but this time you pick one to reveal. And of course, there’s another round of bidding.
We keep repeating this pattern until all players have a total of five cards, with four cards revealed. Then comes the final round of bidding.
Showdown Time!
Once the last round of bidding is finished, it’s time for the showdown. This is where the excitement happens! Everyone reveals their final card, and the player with the best five-card hand wins the pot. Simple as that!
