Welcome to Mendikot!
Mendikot is a fun card game that you can play with your friends. It’s a game for 4 players, who will split into teams of 2. The main goal of the game is to win more rounds than the other teams.
Now, let me explain how you can win a round in this game. The trick is to collect more cards with a value of ten than the other players.
Getting Started
First things first, we need to set up the game. We randomly select the first dealer, and after each round, the dealer will be someone from the team that lost the previous round.
The dealer shuffles the deck of cards and then asks an opponent to cut the deck. This helps ensure fairness. Once that’s done, the dealer deals each player 13 cards.
Now that everyone has their hands, we need to determine the trump suit. This is an important part of the game, so make sure to decide on a method for choosing the trump suit before you begin. There are three options you can explore.
Alright, let me break it down for you. When it’s time to start a card game, you’ve got a few options for choosing the trump suit. Here’s how it goes:
Option number one is to have the dealer flip over the top card of the deck before dealing the hands. Whatever suit that card is, well, that’s gonna be the trump suit. Of course, the dealer’s gonna shuffle the deck again before dealing, just to keep things fair.
Now, option number two puts the power in the hands of the player to the dealer’s right. They get to pick the trump suit. How? Simple. They just gotta choose a card from their own hand and lay it face down on the table. That card’s suit, my friend, becomes the mighty trump. And don’t worry, they won’t reveal it until later in the game. Adds a bit of mystery, you know?
Last but not least, there’s option number three. This one gives you the chance to choose the trump suit a little later in the game. How does it work? Well, once a player can’t follow suit, meaning they don’t have a card of the same suit as the one played, that’s when the trump suit is determined. The player will simply play any card they have left in their hand, and the suit of that card becomes the mighty trump for the rest of the game. Exciting stuff, right?
Now, let’s talk about card ranking. Here’s how it goes:
The highest-ranking card is the Ace, followed by the King, Queen, Jack, and so on. The lowliest card is the 2. Keep that order in mind, and you’ll be on your way to card game glory.
So, now that you know the rules of the game, it’s time to dive in and have some fun!
When playing the game, I start on the right side of the dealer. I can choose any card to begin with. Then, all the other players have to play a card of the same suit if they have one. If they don’t, they can play any card they want.
To win a trick, I need to play the highest trump card, if there is one. If there are no trumps played, I need to play the highest card of the suit that was led. Once I win the trick, I add it to my score pile and lead the next trick.
If we decide to use option two for trump declaration, there are two versions of the game. We have to agree on which version to play before starting the game.
When I can’t play a card of the same suit, the facedown card that I draw is revealed. It’s interesting because in this version, we don’t declare the trump suit. Instead, I get to keep the card and can choose any card from my hand to play next.
Now, let me tell you about the second version. In this one, if I can’t follow suit, I have the option to ask for the trump suit before playing my card. If I do ask, the facedown card is revealed, just like in the first version. However, there’s a twist to it. If I ask for the trump suit, I have to play a trump card, if I have one, to the trick. Also, any trump cards played before the facedown card are not counted as trumps, only the ones played after.
SCORING
When all the tricks have been played and scored, you and your fellow players will go through your score piles. If your team has three or more 10s, you win the round. But if both teams only have two 10s, the team that won more tricks during the round is the winner. If you want to keep track of scores for an ultimate winner, you can assign points to the wins.
END OF THE GAME
You get to decide when the game ends. There isn’t a specific scoring system in place to declare a winner. You simply play to win rounds and don’t usually keep track of scores.
