CALIFORNIA LOWBALL

This variant is also called Ace-to-Five Single Draw Poker. It is a type of Five Card Draw Lowball where the lowest hand is determined using ace-to-five hand rankings. In this variant, aces are considered low and straights and flushes are not counted. The highest card in the hand is used for comparison, so the lowest possible hand is A-2-3-4-5.

When it comes to the game known as California Lowball, there are a few key things to keep in mind. First off, you’ll typically find that this game is played with blinds, although it’s also possible to play with an ante. Let me explain how it works.

The dealer takes care of the small blind, while the two players sitting to the left of the dealer put out the big blinds. The big blind amount is equal to the minimum bet required to play. This is important to know before you get started.

Once the blinds are in place, each player receives five cards. After that, a round of betting takes place. If you’re playing with an ante, the first person to bet is the player sitting to the left of the dealer. On the other hand, if blinds are being used, those count as the initial bets, so the player to the left of the one who put out the last big blind gets the betting started. After the first round of betting is complete, it’s time for players to decide if they want to discard any of their cards. They’re allowed to get rid of as many cards as they please, and the dealer will then provide them with replacement cards. Following this, a second round of betting takes place, with the first active player to the left of the dealer starting it off.

Kansas City Lowball is another version of lowball, and it’s also known by other names like Deuce to Seven Single Draw and Billy Baxter Lowball. I guess Billy Baxter was really good at this game and won it multiple times at the World Championships!

In Kansas City Lowball, aces are considered high, which means they have a high value. And here’s an interesting fact: In this game, both flushes and straights count as bad hands. I know, it sounds a bit strange, but that’s how lowball is played. Oh, and one more thing: Even though A-2-3-4-5 may look like a straight, it’s not! In Kansas City Lowball, aces are always high, so that hand doesn’t count as a straight.

The absolute best hand you can have in Kansas City Lowball is 2-3-4-5-7. So if you manage to get that hand, you’re in for a big win!

Have you heard of this cool variant called ACE-TO-SIX LOWBALL? It’s quite similar to California Lowball, with similar deal, draw, and betting rules. The only difference is that ACE-TO-SIX LOWBALL doesn’t use Jokers.

TRIPLE DRAW & DOUBLE DRAW

When I play Triple Draw, there are plenty of chances for me to make strategic decisions. After the first hand, there are a few more opportunities for me to discard, draw new cards, and place bets. All in all, there are four rounds of betting in this game.

But here’s an interesting twist: if the dealer runs out of cards, the discarded ones get shuffled and become the new deck. It’s like starting fresh!

Now, let’s talk about how we evaluate our hands at the end. There are two possible ways to do this: Deuce to Seven and Ace to Five. Each has its own set of rules and strategies to keep in mind.

• Deuce to Seven: In this method, the lowest hand wins. That means I want to aim for cards with low values, like a 2 or a 3. A hand that consists of a 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 would be a fantastic combination in this case!
• Ace to Five: In this approach, the highest hand wins. But here’s the twist: Aces are considered low in this game, not high! So, I want to aim for low cards like 2, 3, and 4, and the best possible hand would include the cards A, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
