Getting Started with Lost Ruins of Arnak

Hey there, let’s dive into the setup for Lost Ruins of Arnak, a pretty complex game. First things first, turn the board around so we can see the Bird Temple. Cool, right? Now, we gotta deal with all these parts.

Alright, next step is to separate and shuffle all the different card types. Then, place them in their designated spots on the board. Easy peasy. Oh, and don’t forget to scatter those Idol tiles randomly across the board!

Now, let’s tackle the temple. Stack up those temple tiles, making sure each stack has the same number of tiles as the number of players. Awesome. And don’t forget to deal those research bonus tiles to the lost temple.

Take a breather, we’re almost there. Now, shuffle up and place the resources, level site tiles, guardian tiles, assistant tiles, and research tokens onto their assigned spaces on the board. Phew, we did it!

Now that we’ve covered the rules, it’s time for setup. But don’t worry, it’s easier than it seems. Let’s walk through it together!

First, each player needs to choose a color that will represent them in the game. Once you’ve picked your color, gather your game board, research tokens, four basic cards, and two archaeologist pieces that match your chosen color. Place all of your materials on your assigned space on the player board.

When we start a round, there are five important things that happen. First, I draw five cards from my deck. Then, it’s my turn to take an action. I can choose from a list of actions like digging at a site, doing research, playing a card, buying a card, defeating a guardian, or discovering a new site. I can also take as many free actions as I want. If I don’t want to do anything during this round, I can pass my turn to the next player.

After finishing a round and everyone has taken their actions or passed, we get ready for the next round. First, each player removes the cards from their play area and shuffles them into their player deck. Then, we set up the board for the next round. We move the player marker to the left of the starting player and shift the moon staff as a sign that time has passed and we are moving forward.

We continue the game like this for five rounds.

The End of the Game

Once we complete five rounds, the game comes to an end. Now, it’s time to tally up our points. To determine how many points you have, add up the points from the cards in your deck.
