Welcome to Glasgow!
In the bustling city of Glasgow, merchants like you are always striving to be the best. It’s a game of wits and strategy as we compete to amass the most wealth and dominate the streets. Are you ready to prove yourself as the greatest merchant Glasgow has ever seen?
Let’s Get Started!
Setting up the game is simple. First, arrange the tiles in a circle to represent the majestic river Clyde. Make sure to leave enough space in the center for a grid of tiles. The tile in the center of the circle is the Architect tile, representing the heart of the city. Next, place four Contract tiles face-up in a clockwise direction around the Architect tile. Repeat this process twice more to complete the setup.
First, I shuffle the Building tiles and create the draw pile by placing them face down beside the circle. Then, I sit across from my opponent with a player board directly in front of me. We make sure to have all the goods tokens within reach, and each of us takes one stone and one steal. The goods are placed in our storehouses on our individual boards.
Next, we place the figures for the merchants on the starting tile. The player who has most recently done something considered “Scottish” starts the game by placing their merchant on the left space. The other player places their merchant on the right space. And just like that, the game is ready to begin.
GAMEPLAY
When it’s my turn, I get to move my merchant around the River in a circle. I can choose to do the action on the tile I land on. I always have to go clockwise around the River, and I can’t stand on the same tile as someone else. If there’s an empty tile, I go there.
After I move my merchant, I can do the action on the tile if I want to. If I land on a Contract tile, I can take the goods or use the special ability. If I land on an Architect tile, I can build a building there.
Hey there! I want to talk to you about how turns work in a game. It’s not always fair and equal between players. Instead, the player who is the farthest behind gets to take their turn first. Interesting, right?
END OF GAME
Now, let’s talk about how the game ends. When twenty buildings have been built, the game is over. But that’s not it! The players have to count up all the victory points they earned from their buildings. And the player with the most victory points wins! So, who’s ready to play?
