Flinch game rules – how to play flinch

By: Dennis B. B. Taylor

Welcome to Flinch!

Get ready to feel the tension rise as you make your moves in Flinch. The aim of this thrilling game is to clear your Stockpile of cards before anyone else. But beware, other players can challenge your moves and make your Stockpile grow!

Make strategic decisions, play your cards in order, and slim down your pile as fast as you can!

Getting Started

Let’s set the stage for the game. There are different piles where the cards will be placed during setup. Each player starts with a Stockpile of ten cards, placed in front of them. Take the top card from your Stockpile and turn it face up.

The Hands are the next five cards that are dealt to each player. Keep them hidden from prying eyes!

So, once I finish Stockpiles and Hands, I move on to creating the Stack. The Stack is made up of all the remaining cards. I separate them into groups of five and stack them in a crisscross pattern.

Now it’s time to start playing! I need to create Reserve piles. Each player places one card in front of their Stockpile to start. As the game progresses, I can create more Reserve piles. But keep in mind, I can only have up to five Reserve piles.

Alright, now I need to choose someone to be the dealer. They shuffle the cards and then deal them out, following the instructions I mentioned earlier to form the necessary piles.

Let’s Get Playing!

Alright, let’s get this game started! The first move goes to the player on the dealer’s left. If they happen to have a card with a “1” on their Stockpile, they can play it right in the middle of the table. Boom! That becomes the first Play pile. Now, let’s flip the next card from the Stockpile. Oh, look at that! It’s another “1” card. So, we’ll play that too. Nice!

Now, here’s the trick. We keep flipping cards from the Stockpile until we no longer get a “1”. That’s when we start looking into our hands. If we find a “1” card there, we can play it. Simple, right?

Now, let’s talk about the “2” cards. If you have one, and you see a “1” card on the Play pile, guess what? You can play that “2” card right on top of it. But remember, the numbers have to be in order!

What happens if you run out of cards in your hand? Well, don’t worry. Just draw five more cards to refresh your hand. It’s like hitting the reset button!

If, at any point, you don’t have a playable card in numerical order, it’s time to think strategically. You can play a card into your Reserve pile, saving it for later in the game. It’s like storing up some power and keeping your options open. Smart move, isn’t it?

Hey there! Let’s talk about playing cards. You know, those little rectangular pieces of paper that you use to play games? Well, there’s this cool game called Flinch that I want to tell you about.

In Flinch, players have their own Reserve piles. They can only play cards from the top of their pile, so they can’t just go through and pick any old card they want. The cards in the Reserve piles are numbered from 1 to 15. Once a player reaches 15, those cards are removed from the table. But don’t worry, you can shuffle and deal them again to keep the game going!

Now, here’s the catch – when a card is exposed, you have to play it. No going back! So, be careful and try not to make too many mistakes. We all slip up sometimes, though!

The game keeps going until one player runs out of cards in their Stockpile. And guess what? That player is the winner! Pretty exciting, right?

So, that’s the game of Flinch. Simple but fun. Are you ready to give it a try?

Flinch

When you play Flinch, it’s important to always start by playing cards from your Stockpile, if you can. If you forget to do this, someone might call “Flinch” on you. If that happens, you have to take the top card from the person who called you out and put it at the bottom of your Stockpile. This makes it harder for you to catch up in the game! You can also challenge someone if you think they’re hiding a 1 card that should have been played by now.

The End of the Game

Once a player has played all the cards in their hand, the game is over! That player is the winner!

Once a player has played all the cards in their hand, the game is over! That player is the winner!
