Falling game rules – how to play falling

FALLING

Hey, did you know that Falling was released in 1998? It’s a super cool card game that happens in real time, meaning that all players make their moves simultaneously. The main goal is simple: try to be the last player to hit the ground by avoiding those tricky Ground cards. At first, the game might seem a bit confusing, but trust me, once you get the hang of it, it’s like riding a bike – impossible to forget!

SETUP

Okay, here’s how you set up the game. First, gather all the players and make a circle around the playing area. Since everyone will be playing at the same time without taking turns, it’s important that each player can see what everyone else is doing. Leave enough space between each player so they can place their cards comfortably, but still be able to reach out and interact with other players’ cards when needed.

When we play the game, one of us will become the dealer. The dealer’s job is to divide the deck of cards into two parts: the Ground cards go to the side, and the remaining cards are shuffled. After shuffling, the Ground cards are put back at the bottom of the deck. Then, starting with the player on the left, the dealer will give one card at a time to each player.

If a player already has stacks of cards, one card will be dealt to each stack. But if a player doesn’t have any stacks, they will start a new one. Along the way, there might be special Rider cards in the deck that can change the way we do the dealing. When we come across a Rider card, we will place it in a discard pile after finishing the deal.

Rider Cards

Hit – This card means that we need to give another card to each stack the player has.

Extra Hit – This card requires us to give two additional cards to each stack the player has.

Split – If a player gets this card, we need to deal one more card to them and start a new stack.

Extra Split:

Take two more cards from the deck and divide them into two new stacks, distributing one stack to each player.

Skip:

If you draw this card, you don’t receive any cards during that round.

Extra Skip:

If you draw this card, you not only don’t receive any cards, but you also lose your Extra card.

How to Play the Game

In this game, there are no turns. All players make their moves at the same time. The objective is to avoid drawing the Grounds card when it appears. To achieve this, you need to collect skips, stops, and extras throughout the game.

You can only pick up one card at a time, and you must play the card you pick up. You cannot put it back down. You can only pick up the top card from your stack. If a card is covered, you cannot play it. Once you have picked up a card, you must play it.

I’m going to tell you how to play a game called Ground. Just follow the instructions on the cards – they each do something different in the game. If you get a Ground card, you’re out of the game right away. When you’re first learning, take your time to pay attention to all the action, rider, and move cards. These cards determine if there are any changes to the game.

END OF GAME

The game ends when there’s only one player left who hasn’t hit the ground. All the other players are losers, and the last player standing is the winner.
