GETTING STARTED – EMPEROR

Mix the two decks of cards together. Deal yourself 10 rows of four cards each. Take it one row at a time, placing the first three rows face-down and the fourth row face-up. The rest of the cards will make up your stockpile, so keep them aside in a single pile.

LET’S PLAY

When playing Solitaire, I flip over cards from the stock pile one at a time and place them on the piles or foundations. If a card doesn’t fit with any of the cards on the table, I put it in a discard pile below the rows. I can use the top card of this pile, but I can’t overlap cards in the discard pile. Once a card in the discard pile is covered by another card, I can’t use it anymore.

When I come across an Ace, I put it in the foundation row right above the 10 piles on the table. I can either release Aces from the 10 piles or uncover them from the stock.

When you play this game, I want you to remember that the top cards of each pile are the only ones you can move. When you move a top card, you can release the card beneath it. It’s important to place cards on top of cards that have a different color and are directly below them in rank. For example, if you have a red three, you can only put it on a black two.

The sequence in this game goes from Kings down to Aces, but you can’t place a King directly on an Ace.

Once you’ve emptied all the 10 piles, you can start putting other cards in their place.

When you finish all 8 foundation piles, which alternate between the letters A and K, and have cards of different colors, then you’ll know you’ve completed the game!
