EMINENT DOMAIN
Hey there! Let me tell you about this awesome game called Eminent Domain. In this game, we get to explore the galaxy, expand our civilizations, and conquer planets. How cool is that? We’ll also need to gather resources to upgrade our technology. The goal is to have the best civilization and win the game. The more we do and explore, the better we become. It’s so exciting!
SETUP
Alright, let’s get this game started! Each player will receive a Politic card that’s dealt from the shuffled deck. Any extra Politic cards are set aside. Now, we divide the Role cards by type and place them into five piles on their assigned spots of the display. These piles create the role stacks. Each player will then get one Politics card, one Warfare card, 2 Colonize cards, 2 Research cards, 2 Survey cards, and 2 Trade cards. We shuffle all of these cards together to create our starting deck.
Alright, here’s the deal. First off, all of us players get dealt a start planet, and we keep it secret in our own empires. The planet cards go in a deck next to the card display, facing down. Oh, and each player gets a player aid randomly, with the one who earns the start player aid going first. We also set aside the different influence tokens.
Now, when it comes to the technology cards, we divide them into three piles by type, and we make sure they’re facing up and easy to reach for everyone. Each player draws five cards from their deck, and then we’re all set to kick things off.
Cue the Gameplay
This game has three phases, and we take turns clockwise around the group. In the first phase, also known as the action phase, we can choose to play a card from our hand and deal with its consequences. And once we’ve dealt with a card, we toss it away.
Now, let’s talk about phase two. This is a very important part of the game, where everyone has to get involved. We all have to choose a role and put it in our play area. Once we’ve done that, we have the power to boost and resolve that role. But here’s the thing: our opponents can either disagree or follow along with our role. It’s like a dance of decisions and strategies.
Next up is the cleanup phase, and guess what? We all have to participate in this too. During this phase, all the cards that we played in the previous round are tossed aside. They’re done, no longer in play. And guess what else? We have the freedom to discard as many cards as we want. It’s like cleaning house, getting rid of the stuff we don’t need. And after we’ve cleared out some cards, we can draw new ones until we reach our hand limit. But here’s the catch: we can only do all this during our own turn. We can’t mess with our hand during someone else’s turn. Presentation is key, you know?
The End of the Game
Hello there, I’m Ellie! I live in Northeast Tennessee. I’m a huge animal lover, and I enjoy reading fantasy novels and spending time outdoors. I’m lucky to have a fantastic husband who adores me, just like our two furry companions. Being a part of this amazing community brings me so much joy.
Now, let’s talk about the game. It’s an exciting one that has a definitive end. The game concludes either when the influence supply runs out or a specific number of stacks are emptied. In a game with two or three players, the game ends when one stack is depleted. However, in a four-player game, it’s two stacks that need to be emptied for the game to end. Once this happens, each player gets one final turn before the final scores are calculated.
When the game reaches its conclusion, it’s time to tally up the scores! You’ll need to add up your Influence tokens, Technology cards, and face-up Planets. These scores will determine the winner of the game. The player who has the highest total score at the end emerges as the victor!
